Good goat times today. I managed to drag myself out of the trash compactor and get going.
A hot one. Upwards of 24C/75F. But with a harsh humid air that made it feel much hotter. Lots of panting today. The goats too. Phew. Every time they ran around for a bit they’d stop and pant. Probably the last hot day, though. Colder weather coming in. I just want a fresh 22/71 with a light breeze, is that too much to ask for?
Well, it was good to be with the goats again. And I also got to see Ophelia. For the first time in a long time, which she also remarked upon. And we had a good, long chat. Much longer than I usually have with humanpeoples. Even if it was all simple goat stuff we talked about. Like about when Mia was sick. Apparently it was a weekend volunteer who found her and called the vet. She couldn’t get through to their regular vet and another one didn’t handle goats and told her to google ith? Wtf. She ended up getting a hold of one that had to come in from quite a ways away. Apparently it ended up being pretty expensive. But I’m really glad she did it. I’m thanful she’s better now.
We also talked about Milo’s bandit reputation haha. And she went and got hay for the goats, and made sure to put some out in the shelter too so Sky could get some without having to fight for it at the hayholders. I’m glad Ophelia looks out for Sky too.
So that was nice. And then home for a cold shower and I may partake in some iced creamery soon.

And I met this sweet lady too. Nala the barn kitty. The humid heat seemed to be getting to her too, she was more interested in lounging around than hunting rats. At least for the moment.

Despite the brutal humid hotness, I did do some exterior decorating. I found this wooden board in the goat pen. It reminded me of back at the old playground. At one point we got some boards like that. And the goats, especially Palle, enjoyed jumped around on them and jumping off them. I thought maybe this would work for that too, so I put it up on the rocks as seen here. It didn’t really work as I hoped, though. Maybe these goaties just aren’t as jump-happy. It was also too slippery because it had rained overnight. But even when it dried out in the sun, it still seemed too slippery. At least I got some cute bambi scenes of Milo and Sky sliding on it.

Well as I mentioned in the last post, keeping the board up against the rocks as a jumping pad didn’t really work. So after some experimentation this is how I ended up using it. I put it on one of the pallets on the pallet mountain. It sits well there, it’s a lot more stable and safe than the pallets. And I’m not sure how well you can see it, but I actually got a second board. This one was next to the goat pen but I managed to drag it over the fence and then I put that on another of the pallets. So now they are two nice, stable platforms on top of the pallets. I quite like it. Good for the goats to sit and stand on. Of course, i have no idea if the playground staff had any plans for those boards, so I may end up finding them gone at some point. But I hope they can stay.

Good goat times today. Considerably colder all of a sudden. Around 15C/60F and a rainy morning. Looks like summer is over for a while.
Some amusing stuff today. I discovered a new thing that Milo is scared of. My jacket. I wore it for the first time in months probably. But since the rain had stopped when I got to the goats, I took it off. And when I did I sort of waved it a little at Milo. And he bleated and ran away like I’d shown him a brush. Oh dear. Haha. I got him back with a treat, but I wanted to check if he really was scared of my jacket or if it had been something else. So I picked up my jacket again. And yeah, he bleated at it and rain out of the house and stood on the platform and pooped. I scared the poop out of him again. Silly boy!
And then later, Lily treated me to a doulbe toot salute. She sneezed and farted at the same time. Haha. That does not happen often, at least not in a clearly audible way. Maybe the third or fourth time I’ve ever seen a goat do it. Pretty hilarious. And half a minute later she was pooping. Thankfully she’d gotten off the bench before she started that.
So an amusing day. Got to talk a little with Ophelia again too, so that was nice as well. And when the sun was out it was quite lovely.

Slept for a long long time. Had a bunch of wacky dreams. Lot of them were quite dark and disturbing, but I don’t mind that. My favourite though, was the dream where Esther the wonder pig moved into my house! And she had piglets. Suddenly I had a house full of little piglets, and it was as wonderful as it sounds.
Just hope the goats don’t find out I dream-cheated on them.

Good goat times today. Another hot day, but temperatures down just a little, upwards of 23C/73F. Comfortably warm with a nice breeze. Still, good weather to sit around and do nothing. Unfortunately some kids came by and wanted to talk to the goats. “Hi Mia! Hiii Mia! Miiiia!”. Mia was sitting in the shelter, with Milo and Sky, me and Nuller just outside the barrier. Snoozing in the heat. The kids’ grownups came and herded the, away. to play on the playground stuff. But a couple of minutes the kids were back! Sheesh. Alright, I guess I have earn my paycheck (ie Mia kisses) so I got up and got the goats to get up and follow me over to the fence. And the kids got to pet them and feed them some grass. I’m glad the kids got to have a good experience with the goats. Maybe I should put out a tip jar. Bring a slice of pizza for the human, he doesn’t eat grass.

I wroe my Max Headroom shirt today. The problem with my Max Headroom shirt is that it says Max Headroom on the back. On the front it says the network he was on. But usually in all my pictures you can’t see that it’s a Max Headroom shirt unless you know he was on Network 23, so that’s why I had to take a really bad picture where you can see the back of the shirt and then mention Max Headroom a lot, because i’m wearing a Max Headroom shirt.

The crazy thing is, that oh about 50% of Americans will read that and think Biden did the right thing. And oh about 50% of Americans will think Trump did the right thing.
I honestly don’t know how America can function again normally in our lifetime or beyond when it’s totally split and the two halves live in entirely different universes. Whoever is sane, you know that 50% of America is nuts. People will believe what they want to believe. Like the christians who can convince themselves that Joel Osteen definitely SHOULD drive million dollar cars.
Anyway. I don’t post so much about politics anymore, which is a good thing I guess. Good goat times today. A cool and overcast morning with a little rain. The rain didn’t last long thankfully, but barely got any sun. Around 21/70. Comfortable, but i do prefer some sunshine.
I met barn kitty Nala on my way to the goats. I had my arms full of branches, I think she was a little suspicious of my intentions. But she did come over to me so I could give her some cuddles. And then I carried the greens over to the goats. Whomst were not suspicious of my intentions. They knew my intentions were to give them greens, and they were happy about that. Other than that, pretty quiet day. No complaints here.

I did a bit of pallet work today. The pallets were getting kinda wobbly and overgrown. So I decided to do something about it. I basically pulled all the pallets away and put them back in better positions. I did the best I could, but it’s hard to get them stable because the ‘pallet mountain’ is situated on the old pile branch, still old branches lying around at the bottom so it’s not a very even ground to build on. I kinda wish we could get the last old branches hauled away and then maybe some extra new pallets so we could build a nice pallet platform. Or even better get more tiles or other stuff to build real, good stuff with.
But eh, the goats aren’t demanding. They got stuff to jump around on, so they’re happy.

The new pallet arrangement is certified and Mia-approved for relaxation utilisation. One of the reasons that I wanted to fix up the pallets was that it’s been weeks since I’ve seen the goats sitting on them. Especially Mia used to like to sit on the pallets, out in the sunshine. I know it doesn’t look super organised or stable, but it’s considerably better now, and maybe that’s why Mia decided to sit on it.

Ever get the feeling you’re living in a sitcom?
I was expecting a package tomorrow. Today, after goating, I went and took a shower. After being out in the hot air and dirt and goat smelly, I usually take a shower. And I like to sit down in the shower and let the water soothe me, since I don’t have a tub to soak in. So i was sitting there, and then the doorbell rang. And I froze. Oh shirty, I thought. That’s gotta be the package. So my brain went a million miles an hour, for a second. TRying to decide what to do. Normally I’d just not open the door, and thne pick up the package the next day from the post office. The P.Off, as Fawlty would say. But i knew this package was coming from UPS, and unlike the postal service and some other carriers, UPS doesn’t have a pickup location near me. So I panicked and said to myself NO I GOTTA GET THIS. So. I got up. And went to the front door. I got my hamper of dirty clothes next to the front door. There was no time to dry off. I just got out a pair of boxers and a shirt from the hamper. And started frantically putting them on. Do you know how hard it is to put on clothes when you’re soaking wet and panicking? I was waiting for that second ring of the doorbell. The “Ok I rang the doorbell and no one answaered. I’ll ring once more to make sure, but then I’m leaving”. So that second ring came just as I had mostly gotten the clothes on and I pulled the door open. I’m sure I was quite a sight, there dripping wet. HAha. The guy said “I have a package for you, but … now that I look at it I can see I got the wrong one”. So, he had to go down and get the right one from his truck. Which gave me a minute to dry off the worst of the water. And turn off my shower, which.. I had left running as I panickly ran to the door. Haha. Oh boy. But i got the package. Which means I don’t have to ask my parents for help finding their pickup location. So that’s good.
And I managed to help my dad on the phone just now. He’s traveling to England in a few days and he had to get his corona test stuff printed. Boy, that printer is the worst offender in the tech help calls. I don’t have a printer at home, I’m not used to using a printer. So it’s hard for me to help with printing issues. And there’s a lot of printing issues. Like the time they’d set the printer to print landscape instead of portrait by accident. Or when dad had checked the black/white option and didn’t understand why it wasn’t printing colours. Well, 15 minutes ish on the phone i think we managed to get something printed that he can use. Hopefully he won’t be turned away at the airport.

And an apology to my father, I may have ruined his trip to the uk by bringing up travel restrictions that he had apparently not checked up on well enough. I feel really bad about that, but I don’t want him stranded in england or getting a massive fine either.
