The Brief Snow

November 29th, 2015

It’s been an up’n’down sort of week. The cough has been coming and going. And other minor ailments. Just haven’t been feeling in tip top condition. But it’s alright. I’ll soldier on. That’s what heroes do. Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to go shine my halo.

The biggest event was snow. We got a nice helping of the cold, white stuff. I had a nice snowday with the goats on Monday. The cold is hard for me, but I do enjoy seeing the goats in the snow. Always a treat. This was Peanut’s first real snow fun. I went back and looked at the old videos. He had ONE snow day when he was little. That was actually the first day he went outside. But the snow had all melted by the time he went out. He stood inside and watched it fall. And later in the day it melted and he went outside. Sweet to look back at those memories. And now he’s had his first real snow experiences. I don’t think they’re fans of the wetness and the cold, but once they get out in it they’re fine. I let them out of the pen and they roamed around freely, looking for food. Picking fallen leaves from the snow. The next time I went to see them the snow was all gone and they were able to get back on grass. Still edible, luckily!

Today I’ve had a major internet outage and Denmark is being hit by a big storm. Hope there will be no trees crashing into the goat pen this time!

And now on with pictures. First of some snow.

And videos.

And that’s all for this week, folks. See you in the next one.

A Fuse Too Far

November 22nd, 2015

I’m feeling better. Well, that’s a bit of a stretch. The Paris thing kinda knocked me out for a couple of days. I’m back on my feet from that. Because things have to go on. I do feel like I might be coming down with something now, though. A scratchy throat. Coughing. Hopefully it won’t get worse. I’m feeling alright for now.

The temperature has dropped. Winter is coming,. It’s gone from “getting cold after a couple of hours with the goats” level to “face hurts as soon as I leave the house” level. Brr. And now we have snow too. Or we did. I’m not sure there’s any left by now. My area didn’t get the worst of the snowfall today, so it might be gone tomorrow. I’m not sure. There was no snow on Saturday when I went to see the goats. And today was a laundry day, so I couldn’t get any ‘first snow’ reactions from the gang. I’m not even sure if Peanut has seen snow before. I’d have to go check the old videos. But then he would have seen it today, when the weekend feeders let them out. So it won’t be a complete surprise, even if there’s some left tomorrow.

But it’s going to be more difficult now. Being outside for longer periods. When it’s this cold. Let’s just hope spring comes soon. Only 3+ months. Sigh.

Last weekend I managed to blow the fuses in my apartment. I have been exercising with two space heaters going.- And I wanted to try with a third. It was glorious. Until the fuses blew and I was without power. D’oh. Guess I can’t do that. I didn’t have any spare fuses and I have never actually changed them on my own before. So I had to call dad and he went and bought some new ones and came and changed them. Good thing he’s always happy to help.

Now, here’s goat photos.

And videos.

And that’s all for this week, folks. See you in the next one.
