Goats In Space!

April 6th, 2014

Rather uneventful week. My ribs are doing better, though. So that’s good. The internet told me it would be 3-6 weeks for a broken or bruised rib to heal. And it’s been 3 weeks. So that’s about right. It feels really good to be able to turn around in bed without pain. There’s still a little bit of soreness at times, but other than that I seem to be good to go.

Nothing new really from the goat pen either. Herman is coming along nicely. Every day he seems to be getting more comfortable with me. Still not a fan of being touched, but he doesn’t run away as much. And he actively comes up to me when he senses there’s a chance for treats. Raisins do wonders. I wonder how long he’ll be staying. I think Nina said a month. But that’s probably not definite. It’s been 3 weeks. I hope he can stay a little longer. Fun little fella. It’s been interesting to witness his arrival and the changing dynamics.

Mio, of course, is not a fan. But by Thursday most of the chasing seemed to have died down. She still bleated little disgruntled noises when he came near. But maybe her resolve is lessening. We shall see in five months, I guess!

Today is my father’s birthday. Happy birthday, dad. He came over to drop some stuff off, but I was busy exercising. Had my earphones on. Apparently he had to knock on the door for 10 minutes and then let himself in with his key. Good earphones I have.

But that’s about it. Let’s get to the goat media. Bunch of bunch of pictures.

Herman at the hayholder.

Herman and Palle on the bench. They get along surprisingly well. I thought maybe they’d be butting heads, but Palle is just so good-natured. And Herman has had his hands full with getting to know the new place and dealing with the divas. They’re about the same age too, so it’s like a couple of rowdy brothers. Very sweet.

Goofy Kamel.

I accidentally set my camera to a weird aspect ratio, but it’s still a sweet moment with Kamel.

Mia on the bench. I couldn’t help imagining the bench taking off like a spacecraft. Vroom vroom. Goats in space!

Mia two.

Mia three.

Mia and Palle and me makes three.

Foggy morning Mio.

That Palle.

Sif the ewok dog. She’s had some stomach problems again, but finally doing better.

Big dawg Herman.

He has sweet eyes. I liked when I first met him and he looked up at me curiously, blinking his eyes.

Herman on top of the house, keeping an eye on Mio.

Nice shot of Mia getting hay.

Even more Mia.

Sitting on the bench with Mia and Palle.

Handsome Palle.

More Palle.

More more Palle.

Even more Palle.

And a goatlog. With all the fun goat stuff.

And that’s all for these folks, see you in the next round.

The Turning Of The Tables

March 30th, 2014

Not much going on this week. The brokenbruised rib is still hurting. I stopped taking painkillers, though. I don’t know if there was any connection, but I started feeling really bad on Monday. I was getting dizzy and my fingers were tingling and my head hurting. I thought I’d be heading off to the doctor. But it got better. I still get a little dizzy at times, but not so bad. And the pain isn’t too bad either. I have to remind myself to breathe normally because it hurts a little if I take too deep breaths. I think that’s probably where the dizziness came from. Not enough bloodflow. I don’t know. Anyway, I’m doing pretty good. Two weeks in. so there should be 1-4 weeks until it’s healed. We’ll see.

At the playground things are progressing nicely. For Herman. Last week he was running away as soon as Mio even looked in his direction. This week? Completely opposite. Herman is chasing Mio around. With the look of love in his eyes. More or less. Sputtering like a buck at least. Mio is not amused. I think she is somewhat freaked out that she finally found someone she can’t boss around. I don’t want to make light of her grievous suffering, but it does amuse me a little the way she complains and rockets away. Who’s the bully now? Love is a complicated game.

But I’m tired and it’s late, so let’s get to the pictures.

Now Mio is the one hiding among the branches.

Kamel through a smudged lens.

Mia keeping an eye on the humans.

Sweet Mia.

Mio and Kamel plotting world domination. Or at least what to do about that pesky Herman character.

Still love that Palle face.

Bodil took Sif for a trip into the goat pen. I think that’s the first time. At least while I was there and that I can remember. Sif loves the goats, but she prefers the baby ones. I think she knows she can’t play with the big ones or she’ll get a clobbering.

Young Herman.

Herman eyeing Mia. I haven’t seen him try anything with her, but since they’re alone together all night I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s already tried his luck.

I love when they have hay stuck to their faces after digging into the feed.

Crowding at the hay holder.

Palle looks like he was caught with his hoof in the hay jar.

And a goatlog with much chasing and romancing and running around. Plus Bodil and Sif visiting the goats. All this and more.

And that’s all the fish for this week, folks. See you in the next cod.
