Walking In A Window Wonderland

September 29th, 2008

You will never believe what happened today. My window got fixed. It’s all better now. Phew, what a relief. And just in the nick of time too. I was planning to call the housinge office about it today. The office closes at 2:30 pm. I was planning on calling at 2 o’clock. But then I decided to wait to tomorrow, because of my dad and the electrician and stuff. And at 2:08 my doorbell rings and it is the glassmasters. If I had gone through with my original plan then I would have called the office and complained and then I would’ve had to call back 5 minutes later to apologise. Oh boy. I’m glad I didn’t call. And I’m glad my window is fixed and things are back to normal.

Here is a picture of my window without any glass panes in it:

And here is a picture of my window all fixed:

Although you’ll have to take my word for it since you can’t really tell the difference.

So there you go. Now I just have to survive the electrician visit. Also I have gotten a notice from the housinge company that they are going to be checking our air vents. Or whatever it’s called. In the kitchen, that sucks in the smoke and smell. That thing. So that’ll be more strangers who have to come into my apartment. But at least I’ll get a letter three days before and I’ll know on what specific day they’ll come. So that’s less worrying waiting at least. It’s all good in the hood.

Peace out, Pacey.

This Is Not A Drill

September 28th, 2008

Yesterday I had both my parents over at the apartment. That is a rare thing indeed. My dad visits all the time. He brings me papers and stuff. Gets a cup of tea. But my mom visits less often. And both of them together that’s only happened a couple of times I think. So what was the occasion? A lamp. My mother likes to knit. Or crochet. Possibly both. And she wanted to make lampshades for me. And I happen to have no lamps out in my hallway. There’s no light out there. It hasn’t really been a problem. But my mother offered me a set of lamps with homemade lampshades and I accepted. And today my dad was going to drill holes in the wall so we could put them up.

It did not go so well. My dad had bought a drill but he didn’t think it was necessary to read the manual before using it. So basically he tried to drill in concrete with the drilling setting used for drilling in wood. You can imagine he didn’t get very far. Into the wall. I was smart enough to suggest looking in the manual. And once the drill was set to the correct setting the drilling went a little easier. But still not too well. Eventually my dad had to give up, it just wasn’t working out properly. So now I have some random holes in the wall and no lamps. But my dad said he’d get an electrician to do it. So we’ll see how that goes. It means more strangers in my apartment, more waiting. I’m not too thrilled about all that. But eventually there will be light I guess. And eventually my windows will be fixed probably. Everything works out, in the end. I hope.

Terribly fascinating all. Would you rather see some goats running around? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XiPe3JrFHpc. There you go. Magnethe and Vanilje. There is a little fighting. And scratching. And Magnethe running around randomly, which she almost never does. Fun. She gets some raisins for her trouble. And as a bonus there is a little footage of the new sheep. All in a day’s work.

I’m still not napping by the way. Good for me. Maybe I have kicked the habit then. On the other hand I have been going to bed early more often. And by early I mean too early. I hope things will even out a little. No napping and reasonable bedtime. And puppydogs and kittens and pearls for little girls and peace in the world. That is my hope.
