The Rat Race

June 23rd, 2008

Another busy day.

No, actually I’m just getting ready to go to bed early and regret it in the morning. Such is the folly of Plume.

I have done stuff though. Went to my parents’ place and helped my dad with computer stuff. And went to see the goats.

They are still enjoying trimmed branches.

magnethe

I like Magnethe’s tail in that one. Pointing straight like a fetch dog in a Donald Duck comic. Normally her tail is pointing to the sky, signalling that she is happy. But here she is a little worried. There was some kind of digging machine on the hill in the distance. I could tell she was very alert. Acting sort of like they act when they sense that there’s a dog nearby. Very aware and focused on the possible danger. She quickly calmed down though and her tail resumed the position, pointing up and away.

There is something else I should write about. But I prefer to ignore it. Hopefully it has gone away and we are none the wiser. How very cryptic. Sorry bout that. Now it’s bedtime, more or less.

Je Te Plumerai

June 20th, 2008

A better day today. Maybe because I slept better at night. Maybe because I went to see the goats. Maybe indeed.

Thor was the first one to greet me when I got there. Jumping up on me and burying his head under my arm. He was also the last one to see me off as I left later on, up on the fence and baahing after me. He’s a sweet boy.

And a couple of other sweeties.

Lakrids.

magnethe

And mama Magnethe. She is particularly lovely these days. For a long time she had a sort gap in the fur on her back. The size of a hand, or so. I don’t know how she got it, I figured maybe Mads had taken a bite out of her. Although it seemed a bit drastic for a bite, since the skin wasn’t pierced or anything. Just missing fur. It was there for a long time, I was starting to wonder if something serious was wrong. But it’s gone now, the fur grown back and she is beautiful and soft.

It was a warm day today. But we got a quick rainshower as well. As I was sitting on the bench. It was quite enjoyable and refreshing actually. Although the goats were less enthusiastic about it. They quickly ran inside for cover. Soon the rain stopped and the sun came back. And one by one they hopped out of the hatch to check and see if the world was still intact. And it was.

It was good to see them again. It always is. Even though it’s gotten harder for me, going to the playground. It is still not the same.

I have been offered a couple of appartments up in Bispehaven, the residential block next to the playground. I am still on waiting lists for that place. I have turned the offers down though. They weren’t right next to the playground. But still, something like 5-10 minutes walk away probably. But after what happened to Mads the idea of living there isn’t quite as exciting. And mostly I just couldn’t deal with moving right now. I just am not up to that. Maybe some time in the future. I’m high up on the waiting lists. I was number 3 for the last one. That pretty much means that if I say yes to an offer then I will be pretty sure to get it. So maybe when I start feeling better. If I get more offers.

I like living here, though. It’s a good little place and I feel at home. So I’m not sure I’d even want to move.

There are fireworks outside. Soccer celebrations. Denmark isn’t in the Euro 2008 competition, but Turkey is. And there are a lot of Turks living in this neighbourhood. Tonight they beat Croatia in the quarter finals. After penalties and big drama. So they’re in the semi finals now. Congratulations to them.

And now it’s bedtime for old Plumey.
