Falling

October 8th, 2023

Good goat times today. A little rain in the morning, mostly grey day. But not too cold thankfully. It was a quiet day. Literally. The goats were pretty quiet. They bleated when they saw me coming, but other than that there wasn’t too much chatter. Even Luna who usually talks back to me a lot was pretty quiet. Must have been tired after partying hard all weekend.
I saw the new feathers properly for the first time. They actually came out and came into first the big pen and then into the smaller one. They just walked around the fence and went back out pretty much immediately, they didn’t come up to the goat house. But hey, they’re getting braver. Maybe we’ll see them all the way up at the goats at some point.
Some nice visitors as alawys. The boy Khalil was back. Last time he was running around like his pants were on fire and we had to tell him not to chase the chickens. Today he was mucht calmeri, still excited to see the chickens, but not bothering them. This is one of the reasons for public playgrounds with animals like these, to teach kids how to be with animals. He’s a handful, but nice to see him learn how to respect the animals.
The new playground leader started work today. Just when I was leaving, Jeanette was going in for a first meeting with her. I told her to say hi from me. I wonder if she’ll come out and say hi to me at some point. I just hope she will be prioritizing the animals. Hooves crossed.

The greeting squad in the morning. Since it was raining they didn’t come running right out. Which meant I could get the zoomed in sight of them standing there. Nice to see them standing together like that.

Here are the newfeathers taking their first steps into goat territory. Jeanette was surprised to see them out here too. Four different races. One of them is big and white, so I’m not sure how easy it will be for me to tell that one apart from Henrietta Solo. But for now it’s not a problem since Henrietta walks around with Red Sonja in their own little group. Did I mention that Henrietta and Sonja don’t want to lay eggs in the chicken coop because of the new residents? Jeanette set up a box of hay they can nest in, in the gaot house. She found four eggs just while I was there today.
But welcome to the newbies, nice to see them daring to come out now. We’ll see if they end up mixing with the goats in time.

Good goat times today. It was a rainy one. Boy howdy, was it ever. Jeanette said she couldn’t remember the last time she’d seen so much coming down. She’d bought a new raincoat but it wasn’t working well and she got soaked. Trying to dig trenches to lead the water away. Good thing we were up on a hill, apparently the bunny house got flooded.
Yeah, it was a day for staying inside. If it’s going to rain, I like it to be heavy rain. At least while I’m not out in it. So I can sit and listen to it fall. With good goat company.
I met the new playground leader today. Andrea. Jeanette was showing her around the animal grounds. In the pouring rain. They came up the hill to the goat house while the rain was at its worst, pounding down. But she seemed very nice. We shook hands and I welcomed her to the place. And as always Jeanette was very complimentary of me and what I do with the goats. It is always nice to hear, nice to be appreciated. So we talked a little and then they headed back out in to the rain. A good first impression, she seemed sweet and kind. Hopefully that will hold up and she’ll want to prioritize the animals a litlte higher than the previous regime.
Other than that, it was just hanging out with my 5 little ladies, three furs and two feathers, listening to the rain. Fall has fallen.

Breakfast is a good distraction from the rain and thunder storming outside.

.
Notice anything anything different?
If you needed more proof that Jeanette is a lovely and caring person, well she brought me a blanket! When her and the new lead were talking to me, Jeanette remarked that I was practically wearing nothing. I had hung my raincoat in the storage room to dry, and was just wearing a t-shirt. So a little later Jeanette comes through the rain and goes “here you go” and wraps a blanket around me. I have to admit, at first I thought it was a little silly. It wasn’t THAT Cold. But after sitting in the goat house for a couple of hours, storm raging outside, I was really glad to have it. Guess I gotta start wearing my jacket now.

.
Since this is turning into a fashion show channel, we might as well continue the trend. After the Indy hat and the Jeanette blanket, here is my raincoat fit. Don’t worry, I’m not bombing anything.
I wonder if people think I’m nuts for wearing sunglasses in the rain. But 1) they’re filter glasses and help me even when there’s no sun and 2) actually I don’t care what people think. I’m a mud hob.

Oh look, Luna is starting to grow a lil beard. It’s tiny, but because it’s all white it stands out when it’s against a dark background. Pretty cute. I think she’s ahead of Bella on this one.

.
Look at Henrietta Solo in the background, scooting under Sky! Haha. Not something I thought I’d see with dwarf goats.

Good goat times today. The rain is thankfully gone, leaving water and sludge in many places, including the street level of my apartment building. But at least we got some sun today. I miss the warmth already. Had to keep my jacket on. It was nice when we went out in the pen and sat in the sunshine, though.
Bella was up to trouble again today, now I remember why I called her the troublemaker. But I’ll show you with a photo later.
Sweet visitors in the pen today. One kid was poking around, I think it was Bella’s, backside. And her tail, Bella’s not the human’s, was wafting back and forth like ‘get away from here’. Humanswatter. The kids were sweet though, they came into the goat house since the goats weren’t too keen on going out into the muddy wastes.
Jesper handyman started laying out pavement tiles outside the goat house. Only got two done, as a test. It will be nice to have firm ground there, for the wet season. I am a little sad at the thought of them taking away the tiles from inside the house though, I like the way I lined them up in two stairways to the new platform. Jeanette said ‘maybe we’ll just have to buy some new ones’. I wish they would, but I’m not sure that’s in the budget. Still, it will help the goats to have the pavement outside to avoid the mud.
5/10 2023

.
Here’s Bella being troublemaker again. There have been these signs hanging on the walls for as long as we’ve been there, with details of how to care for the goats. I don’t know why, but today Bella decided that they were an eyesore and they all had to come donw. First she got one down, and I thought haha oh well. Then later she managed to reach another one and pull that down. And I thought, whoopsie. And then even later she got a hold of a third one and pulled that down. And she was trying for a fourth, but that remained out of reach. Haha. I don’t know why today was the day she decided to try to wreck all the signs.
I gathered the ones she pulled down and gave htem to Jeanette. She made new ones. They had to be updated.. because of the name of goats on them.. sigh. They’ve been up since Mia and Milo were there.
Well, she put the new one up and we’ll see if they last. Or if Bella’s vendetta against laminated paper continues.

Currently editing footage from the big rain day. Here’s the bit where Jeanette comes in and gives me the blanket. Funny thing, in the beginning where you see her coming up on the hill, I didn’t even realise she was there. I was just filming out the door to get some rain footage. Wasn’t until she was right up at the house I realised she was coming. But boy howdy that was a lot of rain in a short time.

Don’t fall down, Bella! From this angle it looks like quite the balancing act.

Someone left a comment on a video on the goat page saying I was a meanie for ignoring Luna. Snort. Okay, in that particular video I was focusing on Sky, and not paying that much attention to Luna. But that’s only because the kids demand so much attention, in that particular moment I was making sure Sky felt that she got plenty of love, and treats, too. I don’t think Luna feels ignored. It’s not like it’s possible to ignore a goat kid who constantly crawls all over you. And she definitely doesn’t miss a treat.

7/10 2023

.
Speaking of Luna being woefully ignored by the big beanie meanie, here she is leaning on me to reach some leaves. We were out in the sun for a change. And she took me by surprise and jumped right up on my shoulder and stood on my back, for like 5 seconds, before I made her jump off. It’s fun to have a goat on my back again though, even if it’s bad for my back.

Yes, it’s a week into October. Of course you should be firing off fireworks all night. Sigh.
I read a newspiece about the government tightening the fireworks laws so you’re only allowed to fire them off on two days around new ytear’s. iI was so excited. Then I read the article and it said that it was only a tightening of 4 days or something. So.. it’s already illegal to fire off fireworks other than just around new year’s? I don’t know. Maybe it’s big fireworks or maybe they’re just not actually doing anything to uphold the law, because yeah there’s barely a week without fireworks in my neighbourhood. And the last couple of days there has been plenty.
Oh well. It’ll get worse in December.
Speaking of that giant rain fall we had, there was a casualty. My dad’s phone. He goat soaked and when he came home he put his clothes in the washer and drier and well.. you can guess where this is going. So him and mom had to go downtown and get a new phone and sim card and there was a whole ordeal with that, but hopefully his phone is working now. Like me, he does not have a smart phone. So at least it wasn’t a monster expensive eyePhone.
In other news I tried a new pizza place today and it was great, so that’s nice. It’s good to have alternatives when one of them rudely decides to go on vacation or something like that. I’m the center of the universe, I should always have access to pizza.
Mentally I have not been doing great lately, but I’m trying to focus on the good. Goats, pizza and soup. And other things that I can’t mention here. It’s between me and Kristen Bell and I’ll thank you to not poke your nose into our business!
Please allow 4-6 weeks for delivery and read the fine print before placing your order, thank you for shopping Lassecorps. A new life awaits in the offworld colonies. This concludes todays sermon, make sure to tip your nun on the way out.
End communication.

It’s too bad my camera went blurry in the second shot, I don’t know if that was a yawn or what Red Sonja was doing, but it looked pretty funny.

The Fatman With The Hat

October 1st, 2023

Good goat times today. The mornings are getting darker. But lovely day with a good deal of sunshine. And the goats hit the jackpot. Jeanette brought a trailer-load of greens from home, trimmings of hedges and trees. So that was a lovely surprise for the furbies. It didn’t take long before Bella had jumped on top of the pile and was eating it from above. But that’ll give them something to munch on for quite a while.
We had sweet visitors too. A girl called Lily, she’s been there before. Once again she was very interested in me and my camera. Picked it up and tried to push some buttons on it too. Very sweet. Non verbal, but making sounds to communicate at times. And she got to pet the goats too. Very sweet.

Good goat times today. Lovely day with some nice sunshine, once through the colder darker morning. Pretty quiet day today, but we did have visitors. And the goats had treats and cuddles. I did try something funny today, but it’ll be a day or two before I show you probably. Nothing important, just a little gag. You know me, I’m a comedian. A sitdown comedian, because standing up is hard. As Slurm McKenzie said, imma go lie down.
26/9 2023

.
Hanging out with my best gal. I know the kids get a lot of attention, goat kids demand attenion. But rest assured Sky is still my number one girl. Every time I sit down, or am just standing around, she comes over to me and puts her horns against my leg or my hands if they’re within reach. She demands to be petted and scratched. If I don’t start scratching her between the horns then she’ll nudge me with them till I do it. And if I am occupied with something she’ll nudge me a few times and then go ‘alrite, he’s busy, i’ll try again later’. The kids are frantic and insisting, but much more focused on food and treats. And Luna just wants to climb all over me and smooch and nibble on hats and badges and everything. Sky is a lot calmer, although of course she also wants the treats. But I always love when she demands her scritches. Every morning when I’m stretching my legs after walking she’ll be there, horns against my leg.
She doesn’t like sitting on the bench though, she wants to sit on the tub. Sometimes it almost looks like she’s snubbing us, I’ll be sitting with the kids and she’ll be there facing the other direction haha. But I think it’s pretty random how she sits. Sometimes she’ll be facing me and then she starts doing the scoot down to sit and she’ll end up facing away. I always want her to be facing me so I can give her some scratches, but she’s fine just sitting there for ages turned the other way. Sometimes she’ll go sit on the platform too. She likes her alone time now and then.
But yes, just want to make it clear that she’s still getting a whole lotta love and attention. Jeanette always makes sure she at least gets a chance to get some carrot sticks when the visitors feed the goats too. The kids of course snarf them down immediately and continuously, but Sky is slower and sometimes she doesn’t want them and if she does want them she usually have to nibble at them for a bit before she gets them in her mouth. I have shown in videos on the page too that sometimes in the morning it’s like she can’t eat the peanuts, they drop out of her mouth. She can take the raisins okay, and once she’s had some of those she can usually take the peanuts, it’s like she needs to warm up her mouth first.
Anyway, enough rambling! I love my Sky girl. She’s all I have left of the old days and she means the world to me.

Another one in the *exasperated sigh* series. This one was my fault, though. Placing the camera on a non-level surface… whoops. Eat grass!

Looks like Luna has learned a trick from Bella, sitting on the platform with the legs hanging over the edge.

27/9 2023

Didn’t get that fun thing I promised done today. Had a hard time getting out of bed, slept in for hours. Felt depressed. Lots of depression lately, unfortunately. I am happy when I am with the goats, though. Glad I have that place. And these girls.

27/9 2023

.
Good goat times today. A lovely day, pretty warm and sunny. I know I’ve said it before, but this time it really probably is the last one. The forecast ahead is pretty downcast. But still, it’s almost October, so it’s pretty impressive having a day that reaches 20C/68F. Let’s thank all the farting cows for the global warming, let the next generations worry about it.
Aaanyhoo. Just good to be with the goats again, where I feel good. Just hanging around. We had several groups of visitors today. One group came while Jeanette wasn’t there, so I went to the fence and talked a little with them. Then Jeanette came out and the kids got to feed carrot sticks to the goats. And I came up in the conversation, what I do with the goats and my facebook page and everything. It’s always nice to get a little recognition. People are usually impressed when I say I have over 30,000 followers. Never mind there’s only a fraction of that who are really active and engaged users. It’s still cool. And i usually give them the fb name so hopefully they can look up the page and see more about the goats.
Luna is becoming a really good petting goat. Once the carrot sticks are consumed at least. The kids are frantic for the treats. But after they’re gone, Luna will stand still and let the humankids pet her, she’s reminding me a bit of grandma and Mia like that. I hope she’ll keep it up. She’s also very smoochy to me now, if i make kissy noises at her she’ll usually try to smooch me, sometimes even without it ending up with her trying to eat my nose. She’s a doll.

.
Sometimes when I get there in the morning the goats are up on the platform. The funny thing is that Luna is there on the ramp. I am not sure if Sky and Bella kept her frmo getting all the way up, but I don’t think so. It has happened sometimes when I’m there too, it almost seems like she likes standing there on the ramp. It’s the steepest one too. You wouldn’t think it was a very comfortable way to hang out, but I guess according to goat logic, if you’re on something then you’re good.

28/9 2023

.
goatlog. This is from a different day than the photo I posted yesterday, but you can see in the beginning of this Luna is also perched on the ramp instead of being up on the platform. Seems she just likes standing like that.

.
Snerpfrerpit. Spent hours trying to find a way to get videos to post on the goat page. Finally worked, but I am not even sure if it was something I did or if fb fixed something. I still can’t upload videos through the fb content system place, raw videos from my camera upload okay but the ones I have edited and compressed don’t work. I tried so many codecs and filters and ugh. This wasn’t how I wanted to spend my day. But as long as it works to a degree, now. Hopefully.
I’m gonna go hop into a pot of soup.
You know, a witch would have a really easy time with me. Wouldn’t have to trick me to get itno the oven or into the pot, I’d just go. CHARBROILED.
29/9 2023

.
Haha. After a couple of messages offering me 1800 bucks to post ads on the goat page, now I got one offering 7000 those. That’s per week though, not per ad. But still, I need to get that Moneypenny costume cos I’ma be swimming in dollar bills.
29/9 2023

.
Well, actually

29/9 2023

.
Aw, Luna. Haha. I put one of the branches Jeanette brought around her neck and it almost looks like a handkerchief or something, fancy goat dressup. And edible, which is always good.

29/9 2023

.
Goats! Why’d it have to be goats?! I love goats, now I’ll never be able to tear myself away and go fight nazis.
Haha. Well, this was the dumb gag I was promising. As you may be aware I have been rewatching the Indiana Jones movies. And that reminded me, once upon a blue moon I actually bought a hat. I don’t even remember what I was intending to do with it, if I was going to try to seriously use it as a style upgrade. Or if I was going to take dumb goat photos with it. Probably the latter. I may even have taken some pictures years ago, I don’t honestly remember. But then I stuffed it in a box and put it away. But I thought since I’m on an Indy trip it would be fun to dust it off and take it for a spin. When Jeanette saw me sitting on the bench wearing it she went “Is that a new hat? How cool!”. Haha. I suspect she was being polite. Or too far away to get a good look. It doesn’t fit too well and heck I don’t even know if I got it on right. The goats… didn’t really care. Didn’t even really want to try to eat it. Everyone’s a critic!

30/9 2023

.
It’s not the years, Honey. It’s the mileage.
Luna is kissing my booboos away.
I feel like I should point out that I am not intending to wear the hat in the future, I just brought it to take some photos and video because of my current Indy trip. Don’t expect to see it after that, and feel free to make fun of it. Haha. At least I am mudcovered like a real archaeologist who’s been on adventures in the jungle.

30/9 2023

.
Asked Sky if she thought I looked good in the hat, not sure how to interpret that reaction…

30/9 2023

.
The dork in the hat is back *indy fanfare*
My Indiana Jones rewatch just finished The Last Crusade. I love that movie. I know it’s not the highest regarded of them, but I always enjoyed it a lot. It’s another fun adventure. Definitely playing it safe, probably because they were coming off Temple Of Doom. I love parts of Temple, but the rampant racism and misoginy and the improbable story and darkness just makes it less enjoyable to me. Crusade is bright and fun. And Connery is a delight, to me at least. It’s a lot of what I want from an Indy movie.
Next up is Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull. Uh oh! Haha. It will be interesting to watch it again. I barely remember it. The other ones I have watched so many time, but Skull only once. And that wasn’t even a proper viewing. Because of my social phobia I do not go to the cinema. And there was a period in my life where I would ..ahem.. acquire.. movies from the internet. I would download cam copies. Remember the Seinfeld episode where Kramer films movie in the theatre? Well, that’s the kind of version I watched of some movies. Because I couldn’t wait for them to be released on dvd. So, that’s a bad way to watch a movie. I wonder if I will enjoy it more when I watch a proper quality version. We will see, I guess! I have seen some people, whomst have not enjoyed the new movie, saying that in hindsight Skull wasn’t actually as bad as its reputation.
That concludes my movie report for now. Tip o the hat to ya.
