Bad news I am afraid. My right eye has been giving me trouble again. Pain. And more unscheduled hospital visits.<\/p>\n
It started Friday I guess. I had an appointment with my eye doctor. I had been taking anti-pressure medication since the last surgery. The eye doc switched me from pills (diamox) to eyedrops. And then the pains started coming. I guess the eyedrops just aren’t so effective for me. We ended up having to go to the hospital Sunday night. The pressure in my right eye was way too high again. So I got another IV injection of diamox. That got the pressure down enough so I could go home. Then we went back today. Now I’m getting pills again. Along with 3 different eyedrops. <\/p>\n
The pain hasn’t been as bad as before the surgery. It comes and goes. It’s gone most of the time now. Medication must be working. <\/p>\n
But they found blood in the eye. So there has been new bleeding. That is not good. Hopefully it will go away on it’s own in a week or two. But it could be a big problem. If you have an eye that you can’t really see with and it keeps bleeding and hurting then you have to start thinking about having it removed. The doctor said. That is not a nice thought. Needless to say. Even though I’m pretty much blind on it now, it’s still a big step to actually physically lose it. There would be no hope of miracles left then, that’s for sure. But I don’t want to think too much about it yet. I can’t do anything about it anyway. Just hope for the best. I’m sure removing an eye is not a decision they take lightly. Hopefully the medication will keep the pressure down and there won’t be more bleedings. We’re going back next Monday. See how things are going.<\/p>\n
If I could trade one eye for the other I would. I mean, if losing the right eye meant I could see clearly again with the left. I would make that trade. But it doesn’t work that way of course. I just have to hope there will be some usage left in the left one. The central vision is still a little better than it was a couple of weeks ago. As the eye doc said on Friday, it could get better or it could end badly. No way to know yet.<\/p>\n
Now I’m just tired. We were home from the hospital around 1am last night and had to get up at 7 to go back in the morning. With uneasy sleep because of the pains coming and going. Plus all that diamox makes me dizzy. <\/p>\n
