With a little bit of spring. The weather isn’t warm by any means. But we’ve had a good deal of sunshine. I have been able to pack away some of my winter clothes. It’s quite nice being able to walk out without thermal underwear and scarves and hand warmers and foot warmers and gloves and all that. Only one pair of ski socks instead of 2. Unfortunately it looks like we’ll be back down to 0 degrees next week. My dad even said it snowed a little today. Phoeey. I hope the spring will be back soon.

I just love when the sun is shining and the goats sit around lazily. Sitting next to Bob and scratching his back and just zoning out. It’s zen, man. Zen. Good times.

On Monday I went downtown with my dad and got myself a new pair of shoes. My old pair was very worn so my foot therapist had been telling me it was time to get some new ones. Got a nice pair that looks not unlike the old ones. I don’t really care much about the style and all that. They just have to be warm and functional. The ones I got were a little bit too big, but it wasn’t a problem. Until I took them out again on Thursday. I put extra soles in them and tied them really, really tightly. When I got back home I had blisters on my heels. Ouch. I have foot therapy on Tuesday so I’ll have them looked at then. I can’t remember if I mentioned it in the blog but recently I lost a bit of the nail on one of my big toes as well. Must have smashed it into something. Part of the nail was half torn off and it was bleeding. It was very sensitive where the nail was missing for a while, but it’s better now. We’ll see what the foot therapist says. And hopefully tying the shoelaces less tightly will work better. Maybe taking out one of the two extra soles too.

Onwards with goat pictures.

Bob rolling his head and casting a shadow.

Sitting with Bob in the sunshine.

Kamel sitting in the sunshine.

Kamel, Bob and Mio relaxing in the sun.

Mia sitting with a straw.

Almost looks like she’s biting my nails.

Pulling funny faces.

Mio sitting in the sunshine.

Bob eyeing the plastic bag with my seating pad. Now videos.

First off a goat yawn. I caught a yawn from Bob on camera. Y’all know I love goat yawns. I didn’t even notice it when it happened, but then I spotted it while going through the video footage. Lazy in the sunshine!

–

And a video showing that Mia is not too big to stand on my back. It starts off with her standing on Mio’s back too. Cute stuff.

–

And a little bit of documentation of the goats’ raisin tricks. What they do to get raisins. Mia’s trick is the good old “jump on Lasse’s back” as seen above too. Bob’s trick is to jump up with his front legs on me. And usually I’ll grab his hooves and propel him up. He’s been doing that for a long time. Kamel’s trick is new. One of the things I was doing to build her confidence is that I would get her to reach up on the bench to get a raisin. I’d hold up a raisin just out of her reach so she had to get up on the bench with her front legs. At first she didn’t want to do it, she’d rather stay safely on the ground. But eventually the lure of the raisin got her to do it. And then the next time I was there she started going up on the bench by herself. And looking at me like “okay, I did it. Now where’s my raisin?”. And I’d give her a raisin. And she’d keep doing it. And I’d keep giving her raisins. It was kind of like her leg scratchies. At first I had to grab her leg and do it. But then she learned that it was nice and she started putting her leg up by herself to get me to do it. Asking to be touched and get treats. Much more confident. Once she even jumped all the way up on the bench. I can’t recall her ever standing on the bench while a person was sitting on it before. So she’s coming along nicely.

–

And a couple of goatlogs. First from Monday. A nice springy day with sunshine and lazy goats. You can hear Mia’s baahing when I leave at the end. It’s always really hard to go when she starts screaming like that. I just want to stay there all the time.

–

And from Thursday. The day started off with a cold wind, but it died down somewhat and the sun came out again.I rearranged the christmas tree and table. I like to change things up every now and then. The goats are usually spooked when I move the table. It’s so big and heavy that I have to roll it around. You never know with those treacherous tables.

That’s all. Next week is foot therapy and birthday. And hopefully more good times with the goats, even though it will get wintery cold again.
