\nGood goat times today. A sunny, frosty morning. The goats were already out when I got there. So I got to be greeted by the loudbleater. Mia sure knows how to make a guy feel welcome. I brought the pack of spaghetti again, and this time I even remembered to give it to the goats. Big success. What a pasta party. I figured they’d like it. I remember once at the old playground someone had dumped a bunch of uncooked spaghetti on the grass we were grazing on. So I knew they’d like it. And the crunching was great. I’m looking forward to hearing how it sounds on video. And I’ll be posting it on Mia’s page when the editing is done eventually, of course. Other than that it was a pretty quiet day. There were some visitors, a little kid came up to the fence. But hardly had time to say hello before her caretaker came and took her away because they had to go. Rookie mistake. You always make time for goats.
\nYeah, being there makes me feel so much better. It’s the only place that’s free from worry and sadness and negativity. Well, that and dreamland and the hot shower.

\nI love my dreams. I flew last night. Well, not flew. But you know the moon gravity kind of dream? Where you jump really high and far and glide through the air. Lots of beautiful sights. I wouldn’t mind staying in the dreamscape forever. I wonder if people in comas dream constantly? Or at all? Or in cycles. Of course I’d miss the goats and you guys and my family. \nGuess what I got?! I got M&Ms! Sweetness. Thank you so much, Lisa Krolasik! I don’t even remember how we started talking about it, but it came up that apparently we don’t have a lot of different flavours of M&M in Denmark. While in America you have… all the flavour. What does that say about our respective countries, haha? But Lisa was kind enough to send me some samples of different kinds. I think my favourite are the caramel M&Ms. But they were all good, and it was fun to try some flavours I’d never seen before. Do you guys have the R\u00f8dgr\u00f8d Med Fl\u00f8de flavoured M&Ms in America?!
\nLisa also sent me a Star Wars can cooler. I don’t know what wizardy keeps a can cold by putting a wooly thing around it. Must be the force!

\nIn order to keep things light, would you like to know my opinion on The Orville and Star Trek Discovery? You WOULD?! How fortunate! And you’d also like to buy me pizza? I knew you were a good person!
\nSo, I think The Orville is better Star Trek than Discovery is, even though it’s not Star Trek. But it really has the spirit of old Trek. It’s almost nearly like getting more episodes of TNG. I wouldn’t mind if they toned down the humour a little bit. If they made it less of a comedy then it would actually be so close to the classic Trek shows. It makes me kinda happy, because I’ve missed old Trek. I watched the first reboot movie, was it in 2009? And it was ok. But I didn’t love it. And I haven’t even bothered watching the rest of the new movies yet. I’m sure I will at some point. But I’m just not very excited about them. I miss old Trek.
\nAnd I feel somewhat the same about Discovery. It’s not old Trek. It’s not my Trek. I mean, a morally ambigous Starfleet captain?! That’s not how we do captains in Star Trek! Well, it’s not a horrible show. Plot and character wise it’s obviously a more mature show than Orville. And it has qualities. Good performances. Depth. At least it tries. But it has two big problems for me. Number one (insert The Orville joke) is the Klingons. They are so boring. And yes isn’t it impressive how they speak real Klingon. I just.. don’t care. I don’t speak Klingon. And the subtitles are often white on white which makes it impossible for me to read. But worse, I don’t even feel like I’m missing anything when I don’t read them. The Klingons suck. And they’re part of problem number 2. The producers have decided to say that the show is set in the original timeline, original Trek canon. But then they have proceeded to completely ignore that canon. There’s nothing on this show that fits into the original timeline. The tech, the situation, the klingons. Nothing. The only way it could work would be if they ended the show with some kind of magic deus ex machine timeline reset. But that would be even worse. It just annoys me. And I know that’s stupid TV viewing. You should watch and enjoy the stories, the characters. Not care too much about canon and inconsistencies. But I’m just the kind of fan that gets annoyed with little inconsistencies. And Discovery is one big consistency. Spore drive? Huh? Looks, feels and facts all wrong. That’s the funny bit. Orville cout fit into the original timeline much better. Change a few names and a few looks (but not even drastically much) and it could be part of that canon. They’ve hit the spot so well. Not all of it works great, but it’s just more enjoyable to watch than Discovery. I’m going to keep watching Discovery, but sometimes it feels like homework I have to do because I’m a Star Trek fan.
\nSo, if you can stand Seth MacFarlane’s humour and you miss old ST:TNG then I’d recommend giving The Orville a chance. It took a few episodes to grow on me, but I enjoy it now.

\nGreat news! My dad’s results are in. And the tumor is benign. Oh my. You have no idea how relieved I am. That’s the best seasonal holiday present I could get. That we all could get. I must admit, I thought it would be cancer. Because cancer is everywhere. Fork cancer. With a fork. So I just didn’t want to think about it. But of course, you can’t help it. But doesn’t matter. This is great news. So now they’ll be working towards my dad giving my brother a kidney next year. My brother is out of the hospital too. He’s still got some stuff to work on before a transplant can happen. But there’s something to work towards now. And my mother’s recovery is going well too. So things are looking up. I mean, life is fragile. You never know what will happen. Cherish every day etc. Still things to do, things to happen, we all have our health issues. But for today, the news are good.

\nGood goat times today. It was a little bit warmer, but that was negated by a harsh, cold wind. And a little rain here and there. Still too cold for me. But good goating. Treats and cuddles. A little exploring. We found grass that was green enough to graze on. Or maybe the ladies were just hungry enough to settle. Mia managed to knock a bowl of.. something, down. I’m not sure what it was, but whatever it was she was very fond of it. She kept jumping up with the front legs to reach the bowl. And eventually she knocked it down and they both ate most of the spoils on the gound. When Anne got there she asked “did they goats do that?”. The answer to that question is usually “Yes”.
\nOn my way home I had to stop at my parents’ house to fix a computer thing. Mother is recovering according to plan. And I am of course still very relieved about my dad. Like a stone lifted from my shoulders. Or a Mio stepped off my toes.
