Good goat times today. Cold cold cold. Down around 2C\/35F but with a cold wind that made it feel even colder. Brrr. I am thankful for the neckroll that Carine sent me, it’s so warm and comfy. Way better than the little fallingapart half-scarf I used to use. The neckroller is perfect. A couple of times I was pulling it all the way up to under my nose to get warm. I don’t think it’s meant to be worn like that!
\nAnd I know it’s not called a neckroller. Jeanette called it a “halsedisse”. Funny in all my years on this planet, I have never heard that word before. I went to the google translate to see what the English word for it would be. Google said the English translation was … “neck dissection”. Ehm. Ok. Apparently it’s called a neck gaiter. I don’t think I’ve ever heard that before. I don’t think I’ve seen one before either. But i’m glad I have one now.
\nA couple of the other presents got some use too, but I’ll show that later.
\nThe goats were separated again when I got there, with the goat closed. And the chickens in their caged pen. I wish it didn’t have to be like that.
\nBut it was a good day with the goaties, despite the cold. I think Luna may have been a little in heat again. Not quite as hilariously snorting as last time, but some snorts and grunts. And at one point she peed in the grass and then turned around to sniff at it. If you know goats you know what’s coming next. That upturned lip curl, the flehmen face. Looks so ridiculous.

\nI brought it today and asked Jeanette if it would be okay if I put it up. I had brought some wire stuff that I thought i’d use to hang it up. Jeanette went , no no I’ll get a hammer. And she immediately went and nailed it to the fence.
\nSo now there should be no more problems of the goats talking their way out of the pen!

\nGave the new cap a spin too. I must admit I feel a bit self conscious wearing my name on my hat like that, but Luna didn’t seem to mind.

\nIt’s starting to get real muddy. Jeanette suggested maybe we should get one of the pavement tiles and put it out in front of the hatch to help the goats avoid the mud. But then we realised that we kind of need the pavement tiles inside, because they’re on top of pallets, and we wouldn’t want the pallets with their gaps exposed. So that idea was nixed. But then i remembered the plywood board. I had moved it up closer to the goat house a while back, and there it’s been sitting since. it’s kind of broken into two parts. So I took the smallest part and moved it over to the hatch. It’s not perfect, it’s a little slipperier than the pavement tiles, and doesn’t have the hoof grinding qualities that the pavement has. But. It’s better than the mud, I think. And the goats seemed happy enough to have it there to help them get out without stepping in mud. Here’s Luna checking it out.

\nUnfortunately I didn’t get a good picture of Luna’s flehmenface. This was the closest I got. From some angles she looks pretty funny with her little body, almost looks like I photoshopped the head of a bigger goat on a small goat’s body. Or maybe that’s just the blindness talking.
