I was a little nervous before-hand. Just because of the socialness of the situation. But it went fine. No worries. The guy who gave me the sight test was the same guy who helped me a couple of years ago when I got my last glasses. So that was good, he seems nice.

And I was right that I needed new glasses. He said something about my sight being 20% worse. Over 2? years. So how long before we get to %100? Hmm. Anyway. He recommended that I’d have lenses with my current strength for reading and computer stuff and such. It would be good for my eyes. Because they have to work harder, I guess. And then have another pair with new and stronger lenses. For every day use. First we looked at the possibility of multiple-strength lenses. So I would only need one pair of glasses. But that was just way too expensive. So instead we made a deal. He gave me a cheap pair of frames for free. We’ll take the lenses I have in my current glasses and put in those frames. Those will be my reading glasses. And then I’ll get the new super-strength lenses and put them in my current frames and that’ll be my every day glasses.

No, really. I DO suck at explaining things. But the short of the long is that I’ll have two pairs of glasses. A “weak” pair for keeping my eyes fit and a “strong” pair for being able to see stuff. That’s it, more or less.

I decided not to get the super thin lenses. I asked how much it would be if I went “down a notch” on the thickness scale. And I could save 1000 kroners. Per lens. So I decided to go for those. They should still be fairly thin, just not super-extra-mega thin. I can live with that. I know it’s not a good thing to say, but I have sort of settled for the fact that I’ll never be super handsome and beautiful and attractive. I should care more about my appearance, I know. But I ain’t ever gonna be a model, baby. So if I can save 2000 kroners by getting slightly thicker lenses, then I’ll do it. We all know it’s what’s on the inside that counts anyway, right? Yup. Looks don’t matter in this world, luckily.

The optician said that I should make an appointment with an eye doctor. What’s that called, optometrist? Ostrich? Bazookheit? Something. Yes. Just to make sure that there are no underlying problems behind my poor eyesight. So I’ll try to get that done soon. He actually told me the same thing last time I got glasses. And I didn’t do it. Because sometimes I’m really stupid. Imagine that I’m going blind and it could have been stopped if I had seen the eye doc in time. Wouldn’t that be a kicker. But let’s not jump to horrible conclusions.

I’m really looking forward to being able to see again. That’ll be nice. A week or so, then my new lenses should be ready.

In the meantime, here is a video: http://youtube.com/watch?v=gSuvoOCBMXE. Sleepy Mads in the sunshine. Too bad my batteries ran out just as Magnethe was getting ready to lie down as well. But isn’t Mads beautiful at the end of the video? Pretty boy.

Hopefully there will be a new foal in the fold soon.

Hey did you know that in Swedish “glas” means ice cream? That always amused my brother and I when we went on vacation in Sweden. Because in Danish “glas” means “glass”, as you’d expect. “Let’s eat some glass” we’d say. They’re odd in Sweden, aren’t they?

So I went to the optician today. I was a little nervous before-hand.
