Aah, furniture! A welcome addition to any appartment, I’m sure you’ll agree. I certainly think so, as I’m sitting here typing this in my comfy chair.<\/p>\n

So now I have a shelf and a table and some chairs and lamps. Very nice indeed. In hindsight maybe I should have gotten another shelf and another table. Plus one of the lamps have had its wire cut, so I’ll have to see if I can get that fixed. I might end up buying more stuff later on. But for now I’m happy with this. Now I can start unpacking everything and getting it all sorted. Hopefully it won’t be too long before the drapes get here.<\/p>\n

Tomorrow I’m going to the bank to pay my intarwebz bill. I have to get a “budget” account set up and subscribe to the automatic payservice things so my bills get paid every month. Hopefully that will go well enough.<\/p>\n

Last night was rather noisy. People talking loudly and shouting. And some music being played every now and then. I did not sleep very well. But now I have dug out my earplugs, hopefully that’ll help. If it’s another noisy night. I like the neighbourhood at daytime. Kids playing and sunshine and trees outside my window. But at night it’s less charming. It’s a low-status appartment complex and hearing loud teenagers outside at 4 am can be a little unnerving. I’m sure they’re just as scared of me as I am of them though. Mountain lions and tigers and teenagers, oh my.<\/p>\n

I haven’t had much contact with my neighbours. On the right side (as you enter the building) there is this kindergarten or daycare. I’m not sure exactly what it is. It’s called Safiren. “The Sapphire”. Oh wait, one google later: Safiren<\/a>. It’s in Danish, though. It’s a “Multi-cultural institution”. Children 0-6 years old. I haven’t actually seen their door open or heard any sound from in there at all. But I see them outside, in the green area between the blocks. Outside my window. There are some swings and benches and a sandbox and stuff. I haven’t had a closer look at it, but I see the kids out there playing and some adults supervising. I like it, kids playing and having fun. Much nicer than rowdy teenagers. So I’d count that as a good neighbour, even though they aren’t “real” neighbours. As in, they’re not a family living next door. I wonder if the place is empty at night. I guess so. I can see on the site that they close around 5 pm. So that’s actually quite nice as well. One of the things I dreaded about living in an appartment block was having people all around me, in their appartments on all sides. But since I’m on the ground floor there is no one beneath me. And since the kids spend most of their time outside it’s almost like there is no one on my right side. And when it comes to noise, I can’t actually hear anything from above or the left. The noise I hear is from the outside. So that part of my fear has been debunked I guess. I thought I would go around and be paranoid about the others hearing me and such. But I hardly ever think about that. It’s my little world here.<\/p>\n

The neighbours on my left seem to be an immigrant family. I have only briefly said hi to one woman, the mother I assume. Apart from that I haven’t seen them. But I did actually walk into their appartment on the first day! Whoops. Good thing they didn’t see me. What a first impression to make, breaking and entering. Except their door wasn’t locked so it was only entering. It was when we were moving stuff. I hadn’t gotten my bearings yet and I thought I was opening the door downstairs, the one that leads into the hall and outside the building. I didn’t realize that I hadn’t actually walked down the stairs so I wasn’t in the basement part of the building, I was still on the ground\/first floor. So the door I opened was the door to my neighbours’ appartment. Of course I immediately knew something was wrong and I sort of mumbled “sorry” and closed the door. And no one saw me. So no disaster. I’m not sure exactly how much people socialize here, so I don’t know how neighbourly we’ll get. But I’ll see. At least they don’t seem dangerous. That’s a good thing.<\/p>\n

That’s all for today. It’s nice to be able to use the computer properly again. And what a lovely comfy chair this is.<\/p>\n
