Most of the time at least. When Windows isn’t being annoying. Like for example when I install the drivers for my graphics card and Windows tells me “your hardware has changed too much since you installed Windows, now you must reactivate”. And my activation code has been used too many times so I have to call up Microsoft to get a new one. The last time I bought a new computer I had a lot of hard drive trouble so I had to reinstall Windows several times and I had to call them up back then as well. I talked to some guy with a horrible accent that I could barely understand. At least this time I got through to an automated system so I didn’t have to actually talk to anyone. But I still had to give them my installation ID which is 9×6 numbers. And then they gave me a new activation code which is 5×5 numbers. That’s alotta numbers. Things like this makes me wonder why I don’t just get a pirated copy of Windows? I bet you I could find one in 5 minutes and then a couple of minutes to find a crack. It would be easy and free. Why bother paying for a legitimate copy when I get treated like crap? I guess I’m just too honest, eh? *polishes my halo*

Another problem was Internet Explorer. I decided the new computer would be a good excuse to try out IE7. I’m used to version 6. I didn’t like the layout of the new version. Tabbed browsing is cool, but I couldn’t customize the buttons as I wanted them. The real problem came when I tried youtube. It told me that I didn’t have the latest Flash player installed. So I went to get that and after much fiddling with security issues I managed to get it installed. But youtube still wouldn’t work. Something about my security settings again. I am somewhat paranoid, I run with very tight security. But even setting the security to the lowest possible I still couldn’t get youtube working. And then the visited links in Google Groups didn’t change colours. I don’t know if that was IE7’s fault, it worked on other sites. The links changing colour when you’ve clicked them. So maybe it was a problem on Google. But I do a lot of Groups reading and without the link colour change it would be hard to keep track of it all. So finally I decided to uninstall IE7 and put back IE6 and presto, everything worked like I wanted. The buttons were where I wanted them. Youtube worked after I gave it the proper security clearance. And the Google Groups messages changed colours when I’d read them. So I guess I’m stuck in the old ages. I’m still running XP too by the way. No fancy Vista for me.

Anyway, I know that was all terribly boring. Sorry. I am still transfering files and I have a few programs to install. But otherwise I’m fairly done and getting settled in on the new PC. It’s running smoothly and beautifully. I can’t wait to install some modern kickass games and enjoy the highpowered performance. Oh yeah.

I got my new speakers today. They were sent seperately. The mailman knocked on my door and said “another package for you”. We’re almost like old mates now. Two packages in two days. Maybe I should invite him in for a cuppa coffee. The next time I get a package I mean. Oh that reminds me, I ordered a couple of T-shirts. A Radiohead and a Smashing Pumpkins one. I wonder where they are, it’s more than a week ago. But that should be a package delivery as well. I guess I gotta go buy coffee then.

Anyhoo, I wanted to remark on the sweet sounds of the speakers. I wasn’t sure whether to buy new ones. I have a pair. But that pair is old and crappy and not originally meant for computer use. So I decided to get new ones, since they were quite cheap. But even though they are cheap they are still miles better than the old one. They even have a subwoofer! I haven’t got a clue what a subwoofer does, but I love the name! And the thumping bass seems to benifit from the.. woofing. So cool beans, says I.

Other than there is not much going on. I read I Am Legend. After watching the movie with Will Smith I felt I oughta read the book. Since everyone said the novel was much better. And I must agree. The novel is far better. Far, far better. The thing I loved about the movie was the scenery, the overgrown civilization. But storywise the book is just superior. And the title even makes sense. imagine that.

Tomorrow I must go see the goats. So that they don’t think I value cheap electronics more than them. Or expensive electronics, I guess. I must sacrifice many peanuts in their honour.

I’m having fun with my new computer. Most of the time at least.
