I am home from the hospital. For the weekend at least. I have to report back in Monday morning. But I hope very much that I won’t have to spend any more nights there. We’ll see how it goes. I have appointments with the eye department and the dietist and the foot therapist. Lots of work still ahead. But right now I’m just happy to be at home in my apartment. That I can get to sleep in my own bed again. And that there aren’t a thousand people running around, wanting to talk to me or draw blood from me.<\/p>\n
I just measured my blood sugar level and it was 8,0. That’s good. Why that’s almost normal. I’ve been told that if it is below 10 when I measure it before bedtime then I should grab something to eat. So 8 is good. I was a little worried that now that I have come home and eaten some of my own food and drank Coca Cola Zero then it would skyrocket and I’d be put right back in the hospital and never be able to make it work. So this was a good little positivity injection. Maybe I can do it, after all. I drank water with my dinner tonight. Water! Can you believe it? It’s perverse, it is. It goes against everything I stand for. <\/p>\n
I’m trying to keep a sense of humour about it all.<\/p>\n
Speaking of injections, I do have to inject myself with insulin. At least for the first couple of weeks. Then hopefully I can just do pills. Fingers crossed. I don’t mind the injections really, it’s easy and pain-free. But it’d be a lot nicer with just pills anyway.<\/p>\n
My family called from Greenland. They have arrived safely and will be enjoying their vacation I hope. My mother was talking about canceling the trip when she found out that I was in the hospital, but that would have been just silly. They’ll be back on Tuesday\/Wednesday. And I’ll be fine in the meantime.<\/p>\n
