Good goat times today. A sunny, frosty morning. The goats were already out when I got there. So I got to be greeted by the loudbleater. Mia sure knows how to make a guy feel welcome. I brought the pack of spaghetti again, and this time I even remembered to give it to the goats. Big success. What a pasta party. I figured they’d like it. I remember once at the old playground someone had dumped a bunch of uncooked spaghetti on the grass we were grazing on. So I knew they’d like it. And the crunching was great. I’m looking forward to hearing how it sounds on video. And I’ll be posting it on Mia’s page when the editing is done eventually, of course. Other than that it was a pretty quiet day. There were some visitors, a little kid came up to the fence. But hardly had time to say hello before her caretaker came and took her away because they had to go. Rookie mistake. You always make time for goats.
Yeah, being there makes me feel so much better. It’s the only place that’s free from worry and sadness and negativity. Well, that and dreamland and the hot shower.

I love my dreams. I flew last night. Well, not flew. But you know the moon gravity kind of dream? Where you jump really high and far and glide through the air. Lots of beautiful sights. I wouldn’t mind staying in the dreamscape forever. I wonder if people in comas dream constantly? Or at all? Or in cycles. Of course I’d miss the goats and you guys and my family. Guess what I got?! I got M&Ms! Sweetness. Thank you so much, Lisa Krolasik! I don’t even remember how we started talking about it, but it came up that apparently we don’t have a lot of different flavours of M&M in Denmark. While in America you have… all the flavour. What does that say about our respective countries, haha? But Lisa was kind enough to send me some samples of different kinds. I think my favourite are the caramel M&Ms. But they were all good, and it was fun to try some flavours I’d never seen before. Do you guys have the Rødgrød Med Fløde flavoured M&Ms in America?!
Lisa also sent me a Star Wars can cooler. I don’t know what wizardy keeps a can cold by putting a wooly thing around it. Must be the force!

In order to keep things light, would you like to know my opinion on The Orville and Star Trek Discovery? You WOULD?! How fortunate! And you’d also like to buy me pizza? I knew you were a good person!
So, I think The Orville is better Star Trek than Discovery is, even though it’s not Star Trek. But it really has the spirit of old Trek. It’s almost nearly like getting more episodes of TNG. I wouldn’t mind if they toned down the humour a little bit. If they made it less of a comedy then it would actually be so close to the classic Trek shows. It makes me kinda happy, because I’ve missed old Trek. I watched the first reboot movie, was it in 2009? And it was ok. But I didn’t love it. And I haven’t even bothered watching the rest of the new movies yet. I’m sure I will at some point. But I’m just not very excited about them. I miss old Trek.
And I feel somewhat the same about Discovery. It’s not old Trek. It’s not my Trek. I mean, a morally ambigous Starfleet captain?! That’s not how we do captains in Star Trek! Well, it’s not a horrible show. Plot and character wise it’s obviously a more mature show than Orville. And it has qualities. Good performances. Depth. At least it tries. But it has two big problems for me. Number one (insert The Orville joke) is the Klingons. They are so boring. And yes isn’t it impressive how they speak real Klingon. I just.. don’t care. I don’t speak Klingon. And the subtitles are often white on white which makes it impossible for me to read. But worse, I don’t even feel like I’m missing anything when I don’t read them. The Klingons suck. And they’re part of problem number 2. The producers have decided to say that the show is set in the original timeline, original Trek canon. But then they have proceeded to completely ignore that canon. There’s nothing on this show that fits into the original timeline. The tech, the situation, the klingons. Nothing. The only way it could work would be if they ended the show with some kind of magic deus ex machine timeline reset. But that would be even worse. It just annoys me. And I know that’s stupid TV viewing. You should watch and enjoy the stories, the characters. Not care too much about canon and inconsistencies. But I’m just the kind of fan that gets annoyed with little inconsistencies. And Discovery is one big consistency. Spore drive? Huh? Looks, feels and facts all wrong. That’s the funny bit. Orville cout fit into the original timeline much better. Change a few names and a few looks (but not even drastically much) and it could be part of that canon. They’ve hit the spot so well. Not all of it works great, but it’s just more enjoyable to watch than Discovery. I’m going to keep watching Discovery, but sometimes it feels like homework I have to do because I’m a Star Trek fan.
So, if you can stand Seth MacFarlane’s humour and you miss old ST:TNG then I’d recommend giving The Orville a chance. It took a few episodes to grow on me, but I enjoy it now.

Great news! My dad’s results are in. And the tumor is benign. Oh my. You have no idea how relieved I am. That’s the best seasonal holiday present I could get. That we all could get. I must admit, I thought it would be cancer. Because cancer is everywhere. Fork cancer. With a fork. So I just didn’t want to think about it. But of course, you can’t help it. But doesn’t matter. This is great news. So now they’ll be working towards my dad giving my brother a kidney next year. My brother is out of the hospital too. He’s still got some stuff to work on before a transplant can happen. But there’s something to work towards now. And my mother’s recovery is going well too. So things are looking up. I mean, life is fragile. You never know what will happen. Cherish every day etc. Still things to do, things to happen, we all have our health issues. But for today, the news are good.

Good goat times today. It was a little bit warmer, but that was negated by a harsh, cold wind. And a little rain here and there. Still too cold for me. But good goating. Treats and cuddles. A little exploring. We found grass that was green enough to graze on. Or maybe the ladies were just hungry enough to settle. Mia managed to knock a bowl of.. something, down. I’m not sure what it was, but whatever it was she was very fond of it. She kept jumping up with the front legs to reach the bowl. And eventually she knocked it down and they both ate most of the spoils on the gound. When Anne got there she asked “did they goats do that?”. The answer to that question is usually “Yes”.
On my way home I had to stop at my parents’ house to fix a computer thing. Mother is recovering according to plan. And I am of course still very relieved about my dad. Like a stone lifted from my shoulders. Or a Mio stepped off my toes.

My crackpot plan to fix this timeline involves an exciting caper where Nicholas Cage and I, through a series of unlikely events, locate and kidnap Bill Watterson and coerce him into bringing back Calvin & Hobbes. The first step, though, is to locate Nicholas Cage who hasn’t been seen or heard in nigh on 10 years. Rumour has it that he has retired to an island deep in the Carribbean. To get there we’ll need to find a helicopter pilot crazy enough to make that journey in these unstable times. I’m thinking…. Nick Nolte. Now, hear me out! I know what you’re thinking. Why not Gary Busey? That’s when it hit me. WHY NOT BOTH? He can be the Chewie to Nolte’s Solo. We will also need an attractive lady that inevitably gets in trouble and has to be rescued by the men. In order to avoid any problematic harrassment incidents, I have decided to fill that role myself. I’ll need to get used to wearing a dress again, but I hear it’s like riding a bicycle. In a dress.

ood goat times today. Lovely sunny morning. Later on the clouds came flowing in, and I ended up walking home in very cold rain. But before that I had the goat times with the goats. We got out to a little nook that we hadn’t visited before. Still on the playground grounds. A little bit of vegetation for the ladies to gnaw on. There is not much left. Only 3 months till spring….
I wanted to do a little photoshoot with just Mia, so I put Mio into their stall with a bucket of food to keep her happy. Proceeded to take the pictures. Until Mio I heard Mio trying to knock the door down. That’s how you can tell when the bucket is empty. The goat tries to knock the door down. When the rain started falling we sat out in shelter in the goat pen for a while. Like the other day, it wasn’t hard rain. But very cold. Just 3 months…

It’s not even about the poltiics. I mean there’s lots to dig into there, but it’s about the kind of man he is. I know that with my political views pretty much any republican president would do things I’d find problematic. But I can’t imagine anyone as horrible as Trump. Even if he switched all his politics to things I agreed with. Or if it had been Obama who acted like this. I would still be offended and saddened and horrified. It’s the lack of class. Compassion. Kindness. Pet. Lowest standard of common decency. Humility. He is just such an embarrasment. I understand why Republicans may have to vote for him, or others in his party. But I will never understand how anyone could think he is a good person. Just go to his twitter account and read down the timeline. Go to youtube and watch random clips. Even pro-Trump channels. Just listen to him. Is that the kind of person you’d want your kids to be? I just can’t understand it at all. I remember when I thought Bush was an embarrasment. All his goofs seem so sweet and quaint now. I’m sure he did political things I would object to, but I could understand people liking him if they agreed with him. He seems so sympathetic by today’s standards. There are many things about Hillary I wouldn’t be fond of. I really really don’t like Mike Pence, I am quite sure he’d do things that would greatly offend me. But even from him I’d expect some kind of baseline of decency and intelligence. He’d at least act like a grownup. Even if every single bad thing said about him is Fake News (which he totally invented and which every single bad thing said about him obviously is, and Time’s person of they year is my girlfriend you don’t know her she goes to another school no I can’t remember her phone number, I probably should have written it down). Even if. Just listen to him and read his words. That is not a good person. That is not a well person. That is not normal. There’s no way you’d be accepting of that kind of behaviour from Obama. And neither would I. Because it’s not right. It pushes me down that path of feeling like I don’t want to be a part of this world, because if that’s the kind of person that’s running this world and that people support then this is not a world for me. Maybe that’s why I care too much about the Roy Moore thing. If/when he wins then it’ll be another sign that this world is something I’d rather leave behind. It would be like if Harvey Weinstein got promoted and Louis CK got a lifelong sitcom deal. “Yeah, we know he harrassed women, but we’d rather have his show on than more Kardashians”. Yes. We all want less Kardashians. But you don’t reward sexual predators. And liars. And bigots. And corrupt nepotistic narcissistic… I shouldn’t use big words when I’m too agitated to spellcheck.
Okay. I’ll give it a rest for today. I also wanted to thank you all. Despite this little setback, I have actually been feeling a little better the last 4-5 days. Maybe Thanksgiving helped. Being mindful of what I have to be thankful for. And feeling people actually somehow being thankful for me and the goats. The support for my dad too (no news, hospital trip went well but it’ll be a few more days before we get results). It has meant a lot to me. And little successes in technical challenges lately. It’s been a few days since I felt like I was standing on the edge of a cliff and there was a toddler with a pair of stilts trying to push me off it. So that’s good. I’ll try to keep it going. i think it’s cute that in America you can’t sign up for healthcare on the weekends. It’s like a third world country where they have to turn off their servers when it’s dark out because they need the electricity for streetlamps.
I mean it’s almost like they want Obamacare to fail haha I wonder why that would be. But don’t worry. With all the tax cuts for the rich, all the millionaires will surely have time to volunteer at their local hospitals and ERs. And once there’s peace in the Middle East and terrorism stops because of tougher immigration there will be lots of money that can be transferred from military and security budgets to the healthcare system. Today is the day of my mother’s hip replacement. She should be in recovery right now. Hopefully that will be going smoothly. My brother is actually also hospitalized. Ongoing infection problems with the dialysis stuff. So that’s not good. I hope he’ll be better soon. And we’re still waiting for the results of my dad’s biopsy. Meanwhile I am luckily only suffering the aftereffects of a class A social media meltdown. Positive thoughts for my family and all of yours.

On the bright side, I had series of wonderful dreams last night. Most of them are faded from memory now. One image remains. My brother had made spaghetti in our old house. And he’d made so much that the house was literally full of it. And I don’t mean full of pots and pans with spaghetti. I mean that the hallways were stuffed with spaghetti pretty much from floor to ceiling. It was like a pillow fort with spaghetti. Spaghetti everywhere. I wonder if that dream was inspired by the fact that I brought spaghetti to the goats yesterday? Someone.. Tanya? talked about giving them pasta. So I bought some to try. And the punchline is.. I forget to give it to them. Haha. Only remembered it when I was back home. Well, I’ll bring it another time. Luckily there are always plenty of treats in my bags and backpack.
Time to order junkfood and think positive thoughts. Thank you everyone so much for everything. Not the best of times, but we gotta keep trucking.

Nothing really new to report. My mother is doing fine, from what my dad says. Recovering nicely and may be able to come home tomorrow. My brother was not allowed to come home today as we’d hoped, but hopefully soon. Dad’s results should be in on the 6th.
Meanwhile, I should definitely get my hopes up about this Flynn thing, right? Check.
Also, to my Australian friends: It looks like Denmark and Australia will be facing off in the feetsball World Cup next summer. Let’s just collude to take the top spots and let France and Peru go home. Wait, I also have French friends. Hmm. This might be tricky.
Meanwhile here is me holding grownup Mia, 5 years and some months after the flashback picture from this morning where I was holding baby Mia. Time flies when your babies grow up.

Full disclosure: I have not fact checked this. It may be liberal snowflake lamestream fakenews. But I do believe that the Repurplicans are doing their best to get the tax plan through without anyone actually having time to look through it properly. So who knows what’s in there? Other than the parts about the rich getting richer etc, but that’s a given of course.
I just thought all my nature loving friends would like to add this to the list of coal in the rivers, shooting hibernating bears, being the only country not to sign the Paris thing etc and Donnie being the only recent president without a dog.
