Tails Of Two Goats

March 15th, 2015

Today is my birthday! And as an early birthday present, this Tuesday I got… another goat baby!

I had actually planned to spend the day in bed, because I do that sometimes when I’m feeling a little down. I was woken by my phone. I didn’t answer it, but looked at the display. Saw that it had been a call from the playground. So I had to call back. I was worried something bad might have happened. But Mio had a baby. Herman snuck one last one in before he left. Certainly not a planned pregnancy. But we’ll take it as a blessing.

It’s another boy. He has quite a different temperament than Mia’s boy Peanut. Even though the new guy was born quite big he did not have the same energy as Peanut. I was worried the first few days because he wasn’t doing much. Barely anything at all, really. But I guess I was just unfairly comparing him to Peanut who was bouncing around like crazy on day two and is continuing to pick up new things very fast. But the new guy has started finding his hooves. Bouncing around. Exploring new things. I am sure it won’t be too long before he and Peanut will be getting into trouble together. So far they haven’t really had that much interaction because Mio is super protective. The two mothers share a room, but if Mia or Peanut get too close to the new baby then they get chased away with a fierce growl. Mio is taking very good care of him. And he is a little, sweet cutiepie. And Peanut is a bundle of joy and energy. Bruce and Clark have competition!

So that’s been my week! Fun with goats. And now I’m old. So very old.

Go go goat photos. First with a couple of humans, though.

Little goathelper Abdul and a friend. I often get that when kids see my camera. “TAKE OUR PICTURE!”.

We’re All A Little Nuts Here

March 8th, 2015

Another fun week with Mia’s baby. Who now has a name! And it’s Peanut. The little charming prince Peanut. I got a lot of nice suggestions from Mia’s Facebook page. Passed a list on to Nina so the staff could look at it. I had put Elvis at the top of the list because I liked that the most. And they actually picked Elvis. But during the decision process I grew more and more fond of Peanut. So I asked Nina if it would be possible to change it to that instead. Luckily she did not object. Haha. So Peanut it is. The goats sure love peanuts. And I sure love Peanut. He’s been meeting bunnies and chickens and human visitors. And taking it all in his stride. Jumping and running all over the place. It’s very lovely. And the temperatures are slowly rising. The days are getting lighter. But there’s not much more to tell. Nothing that you can’t see in the goatlogs below. Full of fun. But first, photos.

And goatlogs.

Monday, with a very energetic Peanut.

Tuesday. Meeting bunnies and chickens and human kids.

And Thursday and Saturday. With lots more fun.

And that’s all for this week, folks. See you in the next one.
