The Cola Restriction Embargo Embarking

November 25th, 2012

Hello again. Here we are now. Let’s see, what has happened since we last transpired? I sorted my computer problems, I think. I’m actually a little proud of myself. Without going into specific details I managed to do some good work that involved opening computers, connecting cables, moving hard drives and so on and so forth. Pretty good work for a blind guy who is afraid of computer innards. Fingers crossed that things will keep working.

And I’m not just improving my computer. Also myself. At least I’m trying. I have quit cola. As of yesterday. So we’ll see how long that lasts…. I have lived off cola most of my life, apart from a short break around the diabetes diagnosis. I have had irritated bowels though, I feel like, and I read that caffeine and cold carbonated drinks could be a factor in that. So now there’s no more sugarfree Pepsi for me. Wish me luck. I also ordered some new fish oil tablets. There was a programme on Danish TV about fish oil tablets. Turns out most of the ones on the Danish market are useless. So I’ve been wasting money on that all along. But after some research I found some that should be better. So hopefully that’ll help with the health too.

I got a great package in the mail the other day. From my friend Traci in Texas. It was a christmas package that she had sent early to make sure it got to me in time. And boy did it. It was full of nice Texan stuff, I really enjoyed it. Remember my cola glass that I got when I moved into this apartment? My dad’s friend who helped us move gave it to me. And it broke. Remember that? I practically didn’t, but Traci did. And sent me a new cola glass. Awesome. Although I won’t be using it for cola no more. But that’s okay. There were also some fridge magnets. I can’t remember if I’ve blogged about it, but when I won that Lost charity auction I got a signed fridge magnet. And I’ve gotten one from Lynne in Scotland too. So I got the idea to start collecting fridge magnets from friends around the world. So when I look at my fridge instead of thinking of all the food that’s bad for me I’ll think of friends around the world. You know? So if there’s anyone out there (cough*Debster*cough) who wants to get me a fridge magnet from your local place of residence for christmas then that’d be supercool, kawaii!

Frost is coming next week. Winter will be kicking off. My new winter clothes have been really helpful during the mild coldness lately. Now I will get to put them to the test in below-zero situations. I guess I will have to dig out my thermal underwear again too. Brrr.

Let’s get to the good goat stuff now.

Bob on the table. I will tell you about the table in the video section.

Kamel in focus.

Mia on the table.

Look at Mio, she’s so white and goaty.

Bob enjoying his scratchies.

New angle Kamel.

Mia standing on my leg.

And our three wild horses. Sille, Fernando and Felix.

Now videos.

First off a really, really cute little one of Mia. She got all jazzed up and started jumping around and challenging Kamel. I don’t remember seeing a 3 month old kid actually trying to butt heads quite like that with an adult goat before. She’s so adorable the way she leaps and skips. And my manly giggles make me laugh as well.

Part 1 of Tuesday’s goatlog. Various goat funs. Mia kept jumping up on my back. And Bob and Kamel kept chasing her off. Preben was tied to the fence to keep him from chasing the other goats out of the fold. It was nice that he at least could still be in the fold, but I still felt a little bad for him. So I brought him some branches and stuck them in the fence so he could duel them and take some aggression out on them since he couldn’t chase the ladies around anymore.

Part 2 from Tuesday. Since they took my little agility setup down I’d been looking for something new for the goats to jump around on. There was a table lying around and I asked Per if I could put it in the goat fold. He told me that was okay, so I went to get it. I thought I’d be able to carry it but it turned out to be super-heavy. So I had to roll it around to get it in the fold. And as you can see in the video it was too unstable to stand upright. So after much, much effort I had to settle for it lying upside down. But the goats still enjoyed jumping on it, and I put up branches around it for them to nibble on. There are some cute bits with Mia jumping on the table and it toppling over too. There’s also a sped-up part of me trying to arrange the table. I originally uploaded that to Facebook with the Benny Hill theme playing in the background. But that got taken down after 5 minutes for copyright violation. Oh well. Just imagine the music.

And lastly but not least a goatlog from Thursday. I put a big branch in the hayholder so it was hanging out and the goats could go and nibble at it and nudge their heads at it. Sigrid came and threw hay to the goats. And there were also apples and carrots later on. We spoil those goats.

That’s it for today. If I don’t see you through the week I’ll see ya through the window, as Keith Lemon says.

The Soup & Goats

November 18th, 2012

I have had a couple of days with computer trouble and migraine, so I’m a little late with the goat deliveries. I’m going to have to just skip the chit chat and go straight to the embedded media. And by that I mean it’s time for the goat pictures and videos of the week awards!

I’m not sure, but I think I may have dropped some raisins under the bench…

Kamel looking sweet. I think she’s starting to get a little woollier too.

Mio under the apple trees. With the playground main house in the background.

Bobby the goatsheep. I guess he looks so lamby because of his black fur. The whiter wool really sticks out like a sore thumb. It’s harder to see when Mio for example gets woolly because she’s already completely white.

Kamel in mid head roll.

And Kamel in mid… something? Duuude, the sky is totally touching the ground. All over. Dude.

A single black hair on Mia’s back. Well, maybe it’s two or three. But it’s still pretty cute!

And a little zoomed out view of it.

For the videos we start with a closeup look at Mio. She is a big girl now. Or at least bigger than she was before. So it goes.

Goatlog part 1 from Monday. When I got to the playground I was a little late. But that turned out to be good, since the place was closed. I said hello to the goats through the windows. And half an hour later the place opened up. I think Preben had been separated from the ladies all weekend because he was very excited when they were all let out into the fold. Even more chasing around than usual. And then Sigrid brought in some hay and they were all excited about that too.

Goatlog part 2 from Monday. At the beginning you can see Mio has just escaped through the fence to get away from Preben. And Mia follows her out. And then Sigrid comes and takes them away. No point putting them back in the fold if they can just get out again. So she took them to the apple trees and tied Mio down there. Bob was not happy about that. Being alone with Preben, and Kamel. He was very upset and ran around and baahed a lot. He doesn’t usually talk that much but he would not shut up about this. He even managed to jump through the fence too, but he ended up in the mud with the horses and no Sigrid to help him so he had to jump back into the fold. I hoped he’d calm down, but eventually I went and asked Alice if it was okay that I set him free because he was so unhappy. And I got the all clear so I took him out of the fold. You can see him running up to join Mio and Mia. Yummy fallen apples under the apple trees. Then Mia got very excited and started running around and jumping all over the place. It was kinda hard to follow her with the camera, but I love when goats just start running back and forth for no apparent reason.

There definitely are two cliques at the playground. Kamel and Preben stick together, mostly because Kamel needs Preben’s protection against Mio. And Bob sticks with Mio and Mia, mostly because even though he doesn’t always get along perfectly with Mio it’s still a lot better than being with Preben. So that’s kind of like two groups. But then when Preben is not in the fold Kamel and Bob often stick together because they get along reasonably well and Mio is quite dominating when Preben isn’t there. It’s fun to follow the office politics!

Speaking of office politics, Mia of course is the baby so she sticks with mama Mio and gets chased around by the others from time to time. But she’s getting bigger. And she is an only child so she has had a lot of attention and adoration. Not least from uncle Plume. So she’s pretty confident. In the goatlog from Thursday you can see her standing her ground against Bob and briefly almost butting heads with Kamel. For a second I thought she was going to start doing the jumping headbutts against her. But of course she doesn’t have very big horns yet, so that wouldn’t be a good idea. But she’s a self-assured little lady.
You can also see a bit of me gathering branches and arranging them for the goats. They have taken my agility setup away, but I can still arrange the branches so they stick upright and the goats can nibble at the bark and play around with them a little.
PS. Look out for the helicopter! And the bunny! And the horse! And the dog!

After spending time with the goats on Thursday I went to my parents’ place. For soup. Mmm soup. Mother’s soup is still the best in the world. IAnd there is still a little left in my fridge now. There’s nothing like tasty, warm soup on cold days. Have I mentioned that my parents will be moving in January? So this was one of the last soup suppers in my childhood home. Sentimentality. But I’ll probably write more about that another time. Now it’s time to go.

Go go go!
