Trouble At The Mill

Phew. My blog was gone for a while. And my photo gallery too. My webhost is moving to a new datacenter, and I picked today to move my site. There was a problem with the MySql database. And the positron evaluator sproinged the dublon matrix from the shizzleborg. And so on. But I think it’s working now. So let’s all just calm down and get off the ledge.

PS. I forgot to mention that in the latest lamb video you should notice Magnethe and Vanilje baahing in the background. It’s the same thing every time there are lambs, the goats just cannot understand that old Plumey is spending time with other animals! Such odd behavior, surely only goats count! But don’t worry, I did give them some attention too. I’m good like that.

Well I’m glad you got that figured out. Wouldn’t have wanted to come looking for your blog and not be able to find it.

I think I will send you some of our snow for Christmas. We have plenty (with ice on top) right now and are expecting 3-5 inches tonight and then a possible 4-6 inches more on Wed! And high winds, of course so we have blowing and drifting snow (with ice underneath it).

Poor animals can’t figure out how we humans are able to walk and they can’t. It’s just too slick for their four little hooves to handle. John Boy did get out on the ice for a little while today, but then scurried back in.

Snickers got out, slid a little, then my husband had to help her back to the barn. She wants to go outside so badly and kick up her heels and run, but she’s stuck with a bunch of cud-chewing goats.

The goats are very laid back about the ice and look out and say to themselves: “I’m staying right here till I can see grass again.” And go back to cud chewing.

This is the longest stretch of time they haven’t been able to wander around in their pen, jump up on the spools, and then go for walkies with us in the evenings.

All our hard work at training Snickers on the halter won’t be reinforced till the weather melts some of this ice.

I wonder what they do all day anyway? In the spring and fall, at least they can lay out in the sun and we all know how nice that feels. They browse on the grass and chase each other and wait for us to come out to visit.

I guess I will have to look into some “Barn-bound hobbies for goats and donkeys”. For those days when you just can’t get outside and your barn-mates are driving you crazy!

Debster – Yes, just send the snow up here. I’d like to see the lambs frolicking in the snow I would.
You’re going to have to hire a dragon to thaw out the ground. Too bad goats can’t breathe fire. Well, maybe try feeding them chili, you never know!
I bet when there are no humans around the animals all sit in a circle and play poker. Then they hear you coming outside and they quickly hide the cards in the hay. And put on their innocent looks. Who’d ever suspect an illegal gambling syndicate in the barn!
