Cheeky Monkeys
Had my doctor’s appointment today. Went okay. Some bloodtests and stuff. I didn’t get around to bringing up the sleeping pill question. Due to bus trouble I was late so it was all a bit rushed. I guess I’ll just have to.. not sleep, for a while. I’ll be going to regular diabetes checkups though, so maybe I’ll bring it up next time. We’ll see.
More importantly, how are the goat kids doing? They are doing just fine. Today they were outside for the first time. When I got there one of them was outside with Vanilje and the other one was inside. Squealing for mommy. They do that quite a lot. Very vocal. And cute. So I brought the last one out and we all had a nice time in the sunshine. Except there’s no sunshine of course. Grey and wet. But nicer than being inside in the dark at least. And lots of space for the babies to run around and explore.
They’re now brave enough to really come up and examine you. Crawl up on you and even nibble at you a bit. They are so lovely, I mean it. Small and innocent and defenseless. You just want to hold them and make sure they are okay and love them. Love them forever.
But I am still tired, so let’s do pictures and part ways. First three from inside yesterday.
Mama Vanilje. She does well. I am relieved. After what happened last year, when she had her first baby. I was worried if these would be okay. And worried if she would know how to be a proper mother. But things seem to be going very well. They are lively, eating and squealing and running around. And Vanilje is taking very good care of them. Just how it should be.
She looks so much like Vanilje did when she was a kid. Slightly darker around the head, but very alike.
There you go. Goat kids never disappoint.

How do you get them to smile? I think on the 4th picture from the last, that baby goat is smiling at us in the photo.
They look so sturdy and stocky. I know you were worried after Vanilje’s first baby, but these two look great. Sometimes that’s just the way things work in nature with animals.
Aren’t baby goat voices just the sweetest? The ones I’ve heard a so high pitched, like a toy tin horn sound.
It is cold here and snowed some overnight. No walkies tonight! Everyone wanted to stay in the barn and eat hay. Okay with me. I was bundled up so much I was like Ralphie’s little brother Randy in the Christmas Story.
“I can’t put my arms down!” (Little Randy in his snowsuit couldn’t move hardly, let alone walk.)

The baby goats look very healthy to me. But we should keep our fingers crossed nonetheless. I shall keep my eyes crossed as well but I shan’t do any driving. Mustn’t run into a lamp post like last time.
Rest well, Plume. Sometimes going to the doctor’s office does make one tired. I know it always did for me.
It’s been chilly here, too, but mostly at night. Not like Randy in the Christmas Story. It doesn’t get that cold here in San Diego.
It’s more cold in the midwest; I’ve seen the pictures on the TV. Wow! Incredible snow storms with wind and everything.
I just hope all the animals are safe and warm and the people, too.

Debster – I just say “say (goat) cheese”! Never fails.
I think they are doing very well. And they are a joy to be with. You can hear them in the video I posted today. “mommy mommy mommy mommy mommy mommy!”.
Luis – We’ll keep fingers crossed and eyes on them and you guys posted. No doubt.
