A Letter To The Patron Saint Of Nurses

Not much going on at the moment.

I wanted to try a trip to the playground on my own yesterday. But the weather was not friendly. And my stomach is still not doing too well. So I had to postpone that. I am confident that I’ll be able to go on my own though. It should be possible.

I now have my very own cane. I had been using a loaner. But now I am the proud owner. Maybe I should get people to sign it, like a cast when you have a broken leg. Or hang christmas lights from it, indeed.

My right eye is doing a little better. I think the pressure is probably still a little bit too high. But there’s almost no pain anymore and it doesn’t water so often. I think it’s doing better. So maybe I won’t have to have another laser treatment after all. That’d be nice.

I’m not sure about my left eye. It feels like it might be a little better. Or at least not getting worse. But it’s just hard to tell. It’s not the best it has been but it’s not the worst either. Maybe it’s just the usual up’n’down, maybe it’s not a downwards spiral after all. Fingers crossed. I can still read at least. That’s one good thing about having been at an even worse point. I have had it so bad that I practically had to give up on reading the computer screen. But it got better. So now if I feel it getting a little worse then at least I don’t panic so much. I know that it’s not necessarily because I’m going completely blind right this second. It could be going up’n’down, it could get better again. That’s a good thought at least. That the blind spots on the left eye aren’t necessarily all permanent blind spots. It fluctuates. Which means there’s hope of it getting better.

There’s been an odd thing the last two days though. White seems to be going yellowy. Especially after sitting at the computer for a while. White text and borders are almost yellow. Odd. But it was like that last night and then it was gone this morning, so I guess that’s not permanent either. Just a little.. odd. Also there has been a reappearance of a little dark spot. A little line. Blood I assume. The odd thing about that is that it was there months ago. And then disappeared. Now it’s back. At first I thought there may have been a new bleeding in my left eye. But it’s the exact same size and shape and position as it used to be. So I don’t think it can be a new bleeding. It must be the same old bleeding. It’s just a tiny one, it’s not really annoying or anything. I just don’t understand why I haven’t seen it for so long and now I do… But who knows. My eyes are fucked up in many ways, I think it’s safe to say.

I talked about how I suspected the diamox was connected to the worsening of the left eye. I have come up with another theory. Perhaps it’s exercise. I stopped riding the exercise bike after the laser treatment. There were pains and I didn’t feel very good. So I took a break from the exercise. But now I have started again. And the worsening feels to have stopped. Maybe last time it started getting better after it was really bad, maybe that was around the time I started exercising a lot. Maybe the exercising gets more blood to the eye and makes it better. It’s a theory. I don’t really think exercising would have that direct and immediate effect on how well the eye is doing. Just as I don’t think the diamox would. But who knows. I’ll put some extra effort into the exercising and maybe it’ll make the eye better again. It’s worth trying anyways.

Sorry for the long boring rambles about the eyes. But it’s nice for me to get the throughts processed and put in words.

Meanwhile, I hope all the Americanos had a nice Thanksgiving. I am thankful for the support I get from my family. From the company I get from you online friends. For the remaining eyesight I have, as little as it is. For all the help I have gotten from the doctors and nurses and sight-related people. For my finances being so healthy that I don’t have to worry about money. And for the goats, of course.

Gracias.

We have a small let-up from work, so we did some things around the house inside and outside today. Cleaned out the barn area where the goatzies and donkey are most of the time. Whew! What a job that was and my husband did most of that work.

We went to the apple orchard today to buy some apples and to see their Boer goats. The goats are so friendly and will stand there forever at the fence for scratches. They are so different from our pygmy boys.

Their females have such pretty little faces and such long silky ears. They have some brown and white, black and white, and some mostly white goats. They also have chickens, rabbits, and some golden Chinese pheasants.

(That’s pheasants, not peasants!) hee, hee

There is a bridge walk-way for the goats to walk up a gang plank, walk across another flat straight plank, and then down a another plank. They can get from one of their pens over to another field area to graze.

Sometimes when we drive by there will be goats all up and down the planks sleeping in the sunshine. There are big rocks for them to walk and climb on at the base of the bridge. What a life they have!

I wish the media would leave Tiger Woods alone. If he’s having family problems, it’s his business. Not anyone elses!

Debster – That sounds like a wonderful place. They wouldn’t have room for a Danish boer goat who looks a lot like a human? I swear he’s a goat, and he’d fit right in..
I have not been following the meda in regards to Tiger Wood. I did see a headline about his Swedish girlfriend pulling him from a car, or something. I didn’t know he had a Swedish girlfriend. I don’t really follow golf much. Do you think they have goats to keep their greens trimmed? That’d be more climate friendly than machines, I think.
