Happy On The Outside

The easter holiday has begun. So today is the first day that I haven’t seen Magnethe’s kids since they were born. I miss them already.

I did go yesterday. Making it the third day in a row that I went to the playground. It’s been a long, long time since that happened last. It’s good to be back.

It turns out that Magnethe’s kids are both boys. So now I don’t have to be all chauvinistic and say that it is obvious that blackhead is the boy because he is a bit more curious and adventurous. Nope.

But he was clearly fascinated with my presence, trying to jump and climb on me all the time. Brownhead did too, but not as often. He was more interested in bouncing around in the hay and being close to mama, I think. Mama is more protective of him too. Mikkel said he was the smallest one, so maybe that’s why. It happened several times that I was sitting with brownhead in my lap and Magnethe came over and sniffed him and then started pushing him with her head, pushing him out of my lap and down to the eating position. She’s never done that even once when I’ve been holding blackhead.

Blackhead was also the one who orchestrated the big escape. Yes, they went outside. I hadn’t left the gate open this time. But I guess Alice hadn’t closed it properly. I heard a clanking noise that sounded like the gate being opened. But no one came in. So I thought nothing more of it. Until a little later when the little guy started making his way slowly outside. Then I realized the gate was open. Little blackhead made his way to the walkway outside the gate. I followed. And then Magnethe followed. Brownhead seemed to prefer the safety of the hay. He staid there and baaaahed for mama to come back. I think Magnethe was a bit torn. To follow blackhead or go back to brownhead? Eventually they both made it all the way outside. And brownhead was actually first to step on the ground outside. It was great to see them exploring the world. I am not sure if it was their first time ever outside. When Alice saw them she said that they were outside again. But then another girl said they’d never been outside before. But they probably did go outside briefly yesterday when I left the gate open. Still, it was obvious they hadn’t been out much. A brave new world. Not straying too far from mama. It was great to see her outside as well, walking around freely again. I miss the good old days with me and the goats walking around all over the place. I have to walk a lot more carefully these days. But it was still good. And lots of (human) kids enjoying the presence of the goats as well. Well, the presence of the goat kids. Not so much Magnethe. She strikes almost as much fear as Mads used to do! I don’t blame them, she is a big, big goat. And she can be cranky. Especially when guarding her little ones. But she behaved quite well most of the time.

One of the girls from the other day was there again. Sara. She asked me about my eyes again. And we talked a little. And I helped her with Magnethe. She was a bit scared of her, but when she had a “safe” position she did like to pet her and talk about her. She felt very strongly that Magnethe needed a bath. I don’t think Magnethe agreed. I wouldn’t want to be the one giving her a bath! That might be a bit of a struggle.

But it was good to have that sort of “goat mentor” role again. And being outside with goats. Definitely a good day. The little ones are really helping me keep sadder thoughts away. They still come, when thinking of Vanilje. But I try to distract myself. I need positive thoughts.

Good day yes. I’m sorry I didn’t make any videos but…

APRIL FOOLS! Hah. I doubt anyone bougth that one. Me not make videos of goat kids? That would be like Lady GaGa not wearing a crazy costume or Barack Obama not solving all the world’s problems with a smile. You know me, of course there are videos. Two of them.

youtube.com/watch?v=W6nRYR0llao. Inside. Really starting to bounce. And climb on me tentatively. I predict I will have goats on my back soon. I sure do hope so.

youtube.com/watch?v=PdrDOTWsQyk. And the great adventure outside.

They are just perfect.

Oh and a little warning: I am planning to do some experimentation on my website the next day or two. The blog may disappear or go wonky for brief periods of time. Shouldn’t be too bad. But if major disasters happen I will post a message on djaliplume.com. Fairly warned be thee says I.

Those aren’t baby goatzies. They are hopping baby “Easter bunnies”! I like when they are hopping sideways. Hopping must been fun to do.

By the way, “Happy Easter” to you and your family. We’re going over to my sister and her husband’s house on Sunday for a noon meal.

Debster – Hopping is sure fun to watch. They must have springs in their little feet.
Happy easter to you too. We don’t do anything special for it in my family. But my dad’s birthday is on Tuesday so we’ll be getting together then.
