ChecksUp

Yesterday I had a checkup at the eye doctor. It’s been six months since my last appointment, and not a lot has happened during that period of time. Which was also pretty much the conclusion of the checkup. My eye looks well, all things considered. Everything seems stable for now, so I’ll come back in another six months for my next checkup, end of story.

I was in and out fairly quickly. The usual little tests and photography. It’s nice that they’re keeping a check on things. So I don’t have to feel like I’m left all alone with it all. And I can always call them if something happens or I feel insecure about something. So that’s good. I’m just glad that I don’t have to run back and forth to the hospital anymore. And no pain. No surgery. I got through the roughest part, now there’s just everything ahead of me.

I talked to the doctor a little about how I’m dealing with things too. He said that it was important to be able to accept things and move on to be able to have a good life. And that it seemed like I was doing well with that. Which I agreed with. It can be distressing at times, but I think I have done well to look forward instead of backwards. There is no point in thinking about the things I have lost. I try to be greatful for the things I still have. It’s the only way to stay sane.

That and goats. Here is a goat video from last week: .youtube.com/watch?v=eyihxQS-E1A. Nothing amazing. Just nice goats.

That’s about that.

Well no more surgeries/hospitals is good news for you. And that is good that you can look forward now and make the best of things.

We’ve been busy at work trying to get all the outside painting done for our customers before my husband left for his annual hunting trip. He left on Thursday, so I’m the sole receiver of all goatzie and donkey affection, not to mention kitty cat, dog, and bird affection, too.

It’s getting cold tonight. The weatherman is calling for frost tonight, so I moved a plant inside and covered one other blooming one. Then it is supposed to get much, much warmer for a few days. Typical October weather, I guess. Still no rain so all the farmers have been getting in the corn and soybeans this fall right on schedule.

It’s unusual for me, but I’m going to watch the second game in the World’s Series tonight. It’s the St. Louis Cardinals vs the Texas Rangers. We’re on the Cardinals side. They won the first game 3-2 last night. I don’t really watch too much baseball or any other sports except maybe the Super Bowl.

I will try to start writing a little more often now that our summer work is done. But then there is always all the inside painting to be done. We already have a few jobs booked for November. Everyone wants their house to look nice before Thanksgiving and their guests arrive to stay in the guest bedroom.

I’m just glad we’ve still got work coming in as lots of other contractors aren’t seeing lots of work. Not too many new houses going up at all in our area. We’re ready for some improvement in our economy nationwide.

Debster – Yup, I’m glad I’m able to look forwards instead of backwards. Otherwise things would be a lot harder.
Good thing you can still find work. I hope it never gets to the point where everything in the world is all painted and there’s nothing left to do. I guess we could always start over then and paint everything in a different colour.
Brr it’s getting too cold for me.

Anntkrst – Thanks a bunch. How’s Nepal? It must be something to see the world like that!
