Fall’d
It’s that time again. Time to catch up on the week’s goat times via the media of pictures and videos.
A closeup of Preben taking shelter inside from the rain
And here a little zoomed out. In retrospect this was a little redundant. But hey, the more goat pics the merrier.
Kamel sniffing my hat. She still does that a lot, sniffs at me. My face especially. Always investigating.
She is going at the vegetation quite fiercely now.
With her ears sticking out like propellers.
A progress report on her horns. You no longer have to look for them, they are right there. Only a couple of weeks ago you could barely see them.
And there she is standing on my back. I do enjoy it so.
Look at the view from up here.
And caught in mid-jump off my back.
She can lick her own nose haha.
You may now resume the pedicure, human.
The leaves have fallen and the goats enjoy the spoils. Mio pulled her leash out of the ground and I picked it up and let her walk around the fold picking up all the fallen leaves that she could get at. Good times.
And now videos.
First from Tuesday. Raisins for the baby. She loves them. When the rain started the goats escaped from the fold and went for cover. Mio and Preben were both tied down, but there was no stopping them and soon they were back in the stable. I did manage to get them out under the canopy too, though.
And from Thursday:
Most of the video is Mia jumping around on my back. She got a new habit of trying to stand on my head too. It is somewhat uncomfortable. But the things we do for our goat kids, eh? Also at one point Mia was standing on my back and mama Mio was standing right next to us. So Mia tried to walk from my back to Mio’s back. She got her two front legs up on Mio’s back and had her two hind legs on my back. And then she was trying to figure out how to proceed from there. And after a little consideration she decided to just make a jump for it. And she landed on the ground on the other side of Mio. Pretty cute.
Other than that not much going on. The sun is long gone. Grey and rainy days. Too cold for my liking.
Oh well, only 6 months until it gets warm again.

That Preben is quite a handsome guy. Love his beard, too. Mia’s little horns are growing so fast. I wonder if they can feel them growing? Our goat Frankie likes to polish his horns on anything solid – the shed, my clothes line pole, or my leg!
Mio looks so funny with her front leg up for a manicure or would it be a pedicure? I tried to lick my nose and I couldn’t do it. Darn. Guess you have to be a goat to do that.
I took some crackers with me when we went to visit the donkey babies. There is a goat there too whose name is Blackberry. She used to have other goats with her, but not now. She is not very tame either. But patience and an almost unlimited supply of crackers is solving that problem.
Blackberry came up to my hand (through the fence) and ate the crackers and then licked the salt from my fingers. She’s very nice and dainty in her cracker eating. No trying to eat my whole hand (like our Frankie would try). She won’t let me pet her . . . yet. But then I do have more crackers, so we’ll have to see what happens.
When I call her name, she comes to the fence now and especially if she hears me rattling cracker wrappers. She’s starting to associate good treats when I show up to visit. (Wish someone would visit me and bring some brownies!)

It’s cold here! We had a frost warning last night. I had to cover up some of my flowers that are still blooming. I think it is supposed to be cold again tonight, but warm up some next week again.
Taming the shy goat: Blackberry comes to the fence now when she sees me and I call her name. I gave her some crackers and she ate them from my hand. I also brought her a piece of berry-flavored mineral lick.
She sure liked the mineral lick! Little pink tongue lick, lick, licking – then she wanted to lick my fingers. I was able to touch her face just above her nose, but she’s still wary and keeps an eye on me when I’m near the fence.
The baby donkeys are growing up so fast – they live next to Blackberry the goat. Some of them are starting to lose their brown fuzzy baby hair and they are quite dark little donkeys, like their father. They love to be scratched and two hands are not enough with four baby donkeys around.
We visit them as often as we can as they will probably go to the sale barn sometime this month. Oh well, we can’t keep every baby donkey we see. One female adult miniature donkey is more than enough for us to handle.

Debster. It’s getting cold here too. Although it’s still above 10C. It just feels cold to me. But Bob is starting to get a woolly neck so he must be feeling it too. He’ll be getting himself a posh winter coat with woolly neck for sure.
Blackberry sounds adorably sweet. I’m sure she’ll be liking you like mineral lick soon enough. Who could resist you? Or minerals? Sweet that she’s a dainty eater. I remember when I’d feed Magnethe and she’d practically gnaw my fingers to the bone. But I still couldn’t resist hiding treats in my hand and letting her dig her way in to them. A miracly I never lost a finger. Mio can be quite aggressive too when she tries to get the treats. While Kamel and Bob are more careful. Kamel is still a litlte shy. She doesn’t always like being touched around the face. But if I stroke her body then it’s ok. And if I have treats then anything goes!
