Collar
Hello hello.
I’m feeling fairly okay today. Mostly just tired. I probably could have made it out today, but I’m going to take another day or two. Make sure I’m back to good.
I saw ‘Denmark’ trending in the United States on twitter and had to look what was going on. Turns out it’s just about McDonalds and McDonaldMcDumb. I was going to write a whole big thing about it, but what’s the point. What an embarrassment. Skippit.

I felt pretty good when I got up today. Almost normal. Decided to take one more day to get fit. Maybe taht was a good idea, because later in the day I sort of crashed. Not really a ‘feeling sick’ crash. More like a “i’m so depressed I can’t get out of my chair, I’m going to nap here for two hours and order pizza”.
But on the bright side, now I have pizza.
And on the sickness side I think i’m pretty much good to go. Onwards and upwards, eventually.

Good goat times today. Finally back where I belong. After almost a week away. It’s not often I’m away from the goats for that long. I really needed some goat time. So good to see Jeanette too of course, been a week and a half at least because she’s been off on vacation. Now the gang’s back together, ready to party goatstyle!
A beautiful sunny day. Cold. Down below 10C/50F in the morning, but a bit higher after the sun had time to do its thing.
I was only there for about an hour and a half. Still tired. Not feeling sick anymore, but I can feel that I’ve been sitting still for a week almost. My body needs to get into the swing of things again. Build up my energy reserves again. You know, get some fumes back in the tank so I can run on fumes again.
I know, it’s a hard life, but at least I carry it with dignity.
But just good to sit with the furs and the feathers again. Everyone doing fine. A mother with a couple of kids came and got to feed the goats.
Pretty drained no, must fill up on soup.

Something bad did happen while I was away from the goats. This tree here in the middle broke. It was long dead, it didn’t survive when goats moved in and started eating it. But it was nice having it there still. It had a little cut off brance sticking out, and Jeanette used to use that to hang up the bouquets of branches she would bring for the goats.
I’m not sure what happened to it. It was dead and pretty thin, I’m not sure if a hard wind could bring it down. The goats would sometimes lean or rub on it. But it seems mot likely, and that’s what Jeaenette figured too, that someone came by and broke it off. Not sure wny anyone would do that, and I sure hope no one is bothering the goats.
But I don’t know. It’s a bummer, but what can you do.
You can see it to the left of Bella in this one https://www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=10160805114213657&set=a.10160215975013657

Good goat times today. Getting back into the hang of things. Still feeling more tired than usual, but other than that pretty good. Gotta get back on the exercise bike again soon too. But baby steps. Baby goat steps.
Another cold day, this time almost no sun to warm us up.
But lots of visitors. The neighbour school crew came by, lots of regulars. Jeanette was cooking up some stuff on the campfire, not sure what. She found some eggs that the feathers had laid, but they were too old so she didn’t want to make an omelette out of them. Apparently Henrietta lays green eggs, which is funny.
The visually impaired girl Beren came too, always a highlight. She came over to the fence on her own, and Jeanette was off elsewhere. So I let her in through the gate so she could spend some time with the goats. She loves the goats. She was kneeling down and talking to Luna, and Luna started nibbling at her sleeve and Beren laughed and laughed about it. Her Danish isn’t perfect but she asks lots of questions and I try to answer her. She remembers the goat names, but has to ask which one is which. All the goats got some cuddles from her.
It’s just lovely when there are kids who so calm and sweet and interested in the goats and appreciative of it. I prefer that to the kids who are loud and running around. A lot of them have some developmental challenges I think, so it’s not like they’re bad kids. But some of them can be a handful for sure. As long as they are nice to the animals then we are good.
Well there’s more to talk about, but I am tired and I need soup. All work and no soup makes Lasse a dull mud golem.

Jeanette brought a bouqet of branches for the goats again today, it may be the last of the season. Not many fresh leaves. With the old tree where she used to hang the bouquets broken, we needed a new place. There was a good branch that worked on the big tree here. Not as good as the old way, it’s harder having three goats around this one. I took a couple of the branches and put them on the fence, so Sky could snack on them there.

Well, I had progress on the glasses situation today, believe it or not.
It’s been three and a half weeks since I had the meeting with the optician. And to recap, the optician sent an application for it being financed by the health care system, the health care system told me the optician hadn’t given all the info they needed, I called them, they said they needed info from my eye doc, I called my eye doc who said they couldn’t just send that, the health care system had to request it through their systems, then last week the healthcare place didn’t answer their phone, probably because of vacation. And they only have open phones for two hours twice a week.
So, that’s previously on Glasses For Lasses. When I got home from the goats today I called back to the healthcare place. Didn’t start out great, i waited on hold for 20 minutes and then gave up. Oh boy. I had some other stuff to do, so I did that. And then tried again. And this time I got through immediately. Talked to a very nice guy who told me that, actually the info they needed isn’t really the kind of stuff that would be in my medical journal from my eye doc anyway, so I should just answer some questions from him instead.
What the what. Why did the lady I talked to the first time I called them say that they needed info from my eye doc then? And why did she say I had to get in touch with my eye doc and tell them to send it when that’s not how it works, they’re supposed to request it electronically.
I don’t know, man. Turns out the info they needed were basically 3-4 informal questions like “why do you need them, what effect does the sunshine have on your vision”. Sheesh. I guess it’s partly my own fault for not being more pro-active and chasing it down more, my avoidance and then being sick and then vacation delayed it all so much. But it’s kind of silly when all they needed were basic answers to a couple of questions.
They guy today was super nice and friendly and helpful though, after a few questions he laughed and said “well I can’t really think of anything else to ask”. And that was it. Now he’s going to talk it over with his colleagues and then I should get a reply to my application soon. So. Hooves crossed they accept it and I can get my glasses made soon. I’m not really hopeful that it will mke a huge difference, but any difference would be a help so let’s hope. ANd let’s hope it all gets done soon.

Holding out an apple to see if I can get Sky to come over and join in, but look who comes a flapping. Red Sonja is just too much fun. Now that Sky won’t always come all the way to the fence in the morning when i get there in the morning, I sometimes have to throw a peanut in for Sky while Bella and Luna are hogging theirs at the fence. Well if Sonja i nearby she’ll sprint over and grab the peanut from the ground and run away with it before Sky even has a chance to get it. You have to be fast! Good thing I have plenty of peanuts. Although i’m trying to cut down on the treatsgiving. The little girls are getting fat too. Oh oh.

Well, I was supposed to exercise today. Instead I did not exercise and ordered pizza.
Whoops.
Well, I’m not sick anymore, but hey I worked hard for a long time. I deserve a little break. Next week, back to exercising. I guarontee.
Need to get a little healthier again too, I’ve been eating too unhealthily while I was sick and resting too.
There’s always something to work on!
Tomorrow is daylight saving change in Denmark.
And the longterm forecast has freezing night temperatures coming up. Urghk.
My facebook feed is full of sponsored posts and it’s making me not really want to look at my facebook feed, sorry if I’m missing stuff.

Just watched the new Epic Rap Battles Of History release. Donald vs Kamala.
Oy. Too real.
I’m disappointed they didn’t have Donnie just standing there silently swaying back and forth for 45 minutes, but I guess that wouldn’t have been a great rap battle.
I prefer fictional villains like Darth Vader and Hitler, wait I didn’t mean that like denying the holo.. gram Tupac.

Well, well, well. What do we have here.
Goats in collars.
There’s actually only one collar, Bella and Luna are just taking turns modelling it.
I was thinking about how to make it easier to tell the girls apart. Before Jeanette went on vacation I asked her if I went and bought a collar for one of them, would they object? The playground I mean, not the goats. Jeanette said they wouldn’t object to that, but if I waited till she came back from vacation she’d buy one. So this week she went and got a collar.
My first thought the first day was that Bella was going to be the one wearing it. She’s a little feistier, maybe wearing a collar would help control her.
Well, she had other plans. She did not want to have that thing put on her. She’s a smart girl. She knows when something is up. Feisty and independent. She reminds me a little of Mia in that way, she knows when our intentions aren’t ‘noble’. She a bit less.. trusting I guess. Than Luna. It’s like if i want to put both arms around her in a hug then she’ll pull away like “no you’re no trapping me”. But then if i get my arms around her and scratch her she’s totally happy with it. She’s cuddly and loving, just with a little hint of initial standoffishness.
After several attempts to get the collar on her, we finally did it. Only because she was backed into a corner in the storage room when Jeanette was getting hay.
So that’s the top picture. Bella wearing the collar. Now the collar is a breakway type, if you grab a hold of it then it’ll just snap free. I didn’t realise that beforehand, kind of negates the idea of using it to control her a bit. Hah. Of course the big question was whether that collar would stay on. She didn’t see to mind having it on at all, once it was on her. But it would be easy to get off.
And no, it didn’t. Next day Bella was collarfree. Jeanette found it out in the goat pen. Hopefully no one was trying to grab it and hold her, she probably managed to pull it off herself or get it caught in a headbutting with Luna or something.
I gave it a go of putting it back on her, but then realised it would probably be much easier to put it on Luna. And it was. Luna has a much chiller and more immediately trusting and cuddly demeanor. She literally just stood there as I put it on her, no problem. I took it on and off like 3 or 4 times to adjust it, she didn’t bat an eyelid. She’s such a little sweetheart. Total cuddlebug and lapgoat.
So that’s the second picture, Luna wearing the collar. That’s how we left it Thursday. Now we’ll see if Luna decides to keep it on or not! If she also manages to tear it off then maybe we’ll just have to give up the idea of a collar. It would make it easier to tell them apart, but it’s no disaster if it doesn’t work out. I’ll let you know if it turns out to be a short term experiment of if it’s going to last!
