Walkabout

Sleeeeepy lamb…

Sleeping lamb.

Is there anything sweeter than watching a lamb fall asleep? First that gentle rocking/swaying that they do. Then their eyelids slowly dropping. Then their whole head dropping. And then they are off counting humans in their dreams.

I am sleepy like a sleepy lamb. I am tired of being sick. And sick of being tired. But other than that I’m okay. I am happy that I have managed to go to the therapist appointment, the doctor appointment and the work-deadline appointment. I am a trooper. My brother has gotten sick too. All in the family.

Other than that just enjoying the lambs. They feel safe enough with me now to come over and nibble at my clothes and bite at my fingers. I usually just sit down and wait for them to come to me. Sit with my legs crossed. With a Locke like smile on my face. You know, Locke from season 1 of Lost. Sitting on the beach. With that enigmatic smile. Feeling like you are in your right element. Like you have a connection to the place. Like fate has brought you there. I really do get that Locke feeling. Channeling his smile. And I even have my own hatch too, the hatch to the goats’ house. Art imitating life imitating tv imitating life. Or something like it.

There is a girl who calls me Mads. Hehe. Partly because her Danish isn’t too good. And partly because she’s silly, and I’m always sitting with Mads. She’s very energetic. She runs around. And she shouts more than she talks. And often she’ll jump up and down at the end of her sentences, as if to punctuate them. And she is always happy to see me.

“Oh it’s so good you’re here” *boing* *boing*
“I thought you wouldn’t come” *boing* *boing*

It still surprises me when kids come and sit down with me or talk to me about the animals and things like that. I still don’t see myself as someone who is easy to like, even if it’s “just” kids or animals. It seems more natural to me that I should repulse them. That they should run away screaming.

Hmm, that’s a bit silly isn’t it? What an odd thing for my brain to come up with. Stupid brain.

I will be working tomorrow. I get to feed the lambs, that will be nice.

There is one boy who always asks me if I’ll be working in the weekends. He’s actually happy if I’m there.

And there’s another boy who does tricks with his bike and then shouts to me “did you see me Lasse?”.

And there is the Crazy Chicken Guy, who is as crazy about chickens as I am about goats. And he always comes over and smiles and says hello.

Savour the good things.

Also, a quick shoutout to Noodella. She sent me a nice package of TimTams. I may just be imagining things but it seems to me that people from Australia rock. At least the ones I know. Oh and Kniefy Spooney, of course.

    Mmmm…Tim Tams. Enjoy!

Better look out, Plume. Sounds like you have made some “human” friends at the playground. Of course the kids like you, you speak nicely to them, you don’t yell at them, and you share a common interest of the animals. You have more than animals eating out of your hand. That’s progress in the friend-making department.

LAMBS RULE – next to goats, that is.

I love that first picture of Kridte she is so cute with her little eyes closed and her smile looks like it’s saying “Ahhhhhh – sunnnnn”. I hope you are feeling 100% better soon Plum.

  4. Plume Says:

Belinda – Oh I am enjoying, trust you me!

Deb – Definitely progress. Humans are okay. Most of them aren’t as cute as lambs though. Oh well, some of them are actually. hehe.

Debbie – She’s adorable isn’t she? I love when the goats or the sheep sort of doze off in the sunshine. That’s the life.

  5. Deb Says:

Hey now. Remember I look like that Luna girl in your Oblivion game. I’m human and cute as a lamb! Well sort of cute, or maybe just not ugly or not scary ugly. The lambs’ mama would like me anyway!

  6. Plume Says:

Deb – I think all the animals at the playground would like you!
