Pose a Strike
When I got to the playground today it was closed. Even though it was an early day for me.
So that puzzled me. I saw there was a sign on the front door. I was expecting it to say “closed due to sickness” but it said “closed due to strike”. Yup. Everybody’s on strike in Denmark. Everyone who takes care of children in any case. And so the playground is on strike too. I’m not going to go into the details about it all, I’m sure you don’t want to hear about Danish politics. I just hope the strike won’t go on too long. The playground is a lot less fun when the animals are locked up and there are no kids.
Kurt was there though. Inside. He came out with a big smile on his face. Not because of the strike. No, he thanked me for the pictures. I had left them in their office on Saturday. He was really happy about them, said they were great. That made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Not like they were going to say that the photos sucked in any case. But it’s still nice to get some positive comments. And I am glad to give something positive back to them. So when the strike is over then they’ll have a look at what to do with the pictures. It’ll be nice to see them up on the walls. I hope the kids will like them.
After talking to Kurt I went in and spent some time with the goats and the lambs. I am lucky to have such excellent pick-me-ups when I am feeling tired.
Kulle was gnawing at my watch. I guess Mads is not the only one who likes it. It must be a very tasty watch.
And that’s it. All play and no sleep makes Plume a tired boy.

A strike? You need to mobilize the playground animals to carry around signs that say: “We want our humans back!” “Animals are people, too.” I wonder if you could get them to march in a circle with the signs? (Just kidding, don’t want to get involved in Denmark’s politics!)
I’m so glad you took in the pictures. They are all just so wonderful and really capture the essence of the animal (silly sheep and smart, wonderful goats). It will be great for everyone to see them when the strike is over. Thank you for sharing them with the playground crowd as well as your blog fans. It’s nice to get compliments, isn’t it?

I think it will be very exciting if they should put the photos up for everyone to see. And besides, if you didn’t show us your photos the emotional impact of your blog wouldn’t be the same. That’s why I check your blog almost everyday to see the photos and to read how you’re doing in your life.
Because in many ways, what is happening in your life mirrors what is happening or what has happened in our own lives. How one feels and how one deals with them doesn’t end at the Danish border.

Very well said, Luis. Plume captures moments in time that make me envious.
We’ve had our two goats for 1 1/2 years now, and we’ve never seen Billy sleep. We’ve caught John Boy several times asleep, but not Billy. We know he must sleep sometime. And here Lasse has pictures and pictures of sleeping goats and lambs.
Lasse, your patience and ability to see both sides of an issue would make you a great mediator. When countries don’t get along, we should send you, a camera, and the playground animals to solve the conflict. They would all be eating out of your hand in a few days.

Deb – Hehe. I like the mental image of the animals on strike. I have a feeling they wouldn’t last long in negotiations thouggh. A couple of apples and some nuts and they’d fold.
Getting compliments is great. It really made me so happy when Kurt came out and thanked me. I could tell he was genuinely thankful, and it’s just such a wonderful thing to be able to make them happy, they have done so much for me. Yup compliments are great. By the way, I must compliment you on your comments, they are great too!
Oh you oughta hire someone, some crazy Danish goat lover maybe, to keep a watch over Billy and make sure he sleeps. Maybe some crazy Danish goat lover who has a camera so he could document it. Yes yes.
Luis – I love sharing the pictures with you guys. I used to worry that I was posting too many, that people would get bored of them. But sharing them makes me happy, so I worry no more.
