Planet of the Goats

Do you know what I like? When Magnethe stands in a bucket.

The movie.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=vW2uZV-2wtg. I happened to have my camera on her when she decided to step into the bucket. Sweet. In the second part of the movie she starts moving her head around a lot, that’s because I was fishing through my pocket for some treats. Yeah, the goats know what is up when I start fishing through my pocket. So I hand her a piece of carrot, and then you’ll see Mads wanting it all for himself.

Also, I have uploaded my desktop. I have shown you the picture before, but that’s how it looks on my desktop. Fascinating.

I have not been feeling too well today. I think I am coming down with a little flu. Just a little one. A baby flu.

I did manage to start my major spring cleaning. Or, well winter cleaning. I figure now that I have some time on my hands I better use on for something constructive. I have two major messes building up. One in my room. And one in the computer area. Got started on the computer area today. Out with the old junk and properly sorted the junk that I wanted to keep. So that’s good. There’s still work for a couple of days, though.

Also, in other news, I got a letter from TMU. Tilværelse Med Udsigt. Starting date: January 31st. I get a little scared when I think of it. But that’s okay, new things always scare me. And they almost always turn out to be good anyway. So I am not overly concerned.

Meanwhile I shall worry about nothing and just enjoy myself. For example enjoy the fact that I found The Dangerous Brothers on DVD. Weet. I love Rik Mayall and Ade Edmondson. Found some of Mayall’s old Kevin Turvey stuff too. Never seen that before. Shall be interesting. Whatever did we do before DVDs were invented?

Oh yeah, that’s right. We watched videos. Silly me.

Magnethe is trying to tell you she wants some food in the bucket. Silly danish goat boy, bring me some food – in the bucket!

I have always been partial to the gray/white/black pygmy goats. Mads is the best coloring I’ve seen. He is beautiful. Don’t tell him or he’ll get a big head!

Hope you are not getting sick. We’ve just have colds here. We both got our flu shots last year in November. Hope they work.

Luis, I take it you’re better from being sick around Christmas time? I sure hope so.

I am better, thank you Deb. But most of my friends are sick unfortunately. The weather here in San Diego as been crazy. Normally, weather in January is our rainy season. But we haven’t had any heavy rains in months. We get a sprinkle here and there. But mostly we’ve been having cold, dry weather which we’re not used to. Thus, lots of colds and flu.

I think you guys were smarter than me. I should have gotten one last year. Well, there is a storm that’s supposed to come tomorrow night. And I do hope there will be lots of rain.

Plume, I’ve never seen snow before. So I get a big kick seeing it when you have your photos. I know you and Deb have been in snow.

Luis, last BIG snow I remember was about 9 or 10 years ago. We had around 13 inches. My car, which was white, was parked on the side of a street. After the snow, it was just a big white lump as the snow plow had pushed more snow up against the side of it.

I had a shovel and a broom to use to clean it off. I stuck the end of the broom handle in the big white lumpy area until I hit something (my car). That was a mess. Usually here in Iowa we may get 3 or 4 inches of snow and then the temp raises and it melts. So it doesn’t stay around long.

But 13 inches of snow is just too much all at one time. Where do you put it when you shovel it off?? In 1979 we had so much snow, that when we shoveled it out of the driveway, we piled it up by the willow tree and a lilac bush.

Silly us. That spring, we wondered why the lilac bush didn’t bloom on that side. The rabbits (looking for food) ate the buds and bark off the top of the bush. They just climbed the snow pile up to the top. They also ate the willow branches up so high as the snow was piled. Our willow tree branches were long on one side and really short on the other. We didn’t begrudge the rabbits that year as it was a very hard winter.

Plume, you probably have pictures of snow when it drifts and it looks like waves on the ocean or sand dunes drifting. The funniest thing to see is when birds take “snow baths” and there are little wing marks in the snow. Looks like someone has taken a whisk broom and lightly marked the snow.

Deb – Now why didn’t I think of that! It makes perfect sense… “Food goes in here..”*stamp*. Yes.
I don’t think I need to tell Mads how lovely he is. He seems to be quite aware of it already. Whenever I take my camera out he is immediately posing, making sure I get his best angles. Hehe.
I think I am getting a little sick. A little at least. My mother stayed home from work today, sick. It’s probably going rounds.

You’re making me miss snow. I want 6000 inches!

Luis – I hope you’ll get some rain. Maybe I’ll be do a rain dance. And a snow dance, for myself. I wonder if I can control the weather, through dancing.
