The Fellowship of the Goat
Felt almost empty at the playground today. Feeding the animals. No pig. No sheep or lambs.
You’d think that would make my job easier, but the horses decided to keep me busy. They didn’t want to go out on the muddy field, instead they ran off to the lawn in front of the playground. With all the juicy grass. I could have probably left them there while I did the rest of the work. But there’s no fence around that lawn. And there’s a road right next to it. And it has happened before that the horses have strayed out on the road. Probably to go to the park on the other side of the road. So I didn’t think it was a good idea to leave them unattended there. Do you have any idea how hard it is to get a horse to leave a field of juicy grass to go to a big mud field? Good thing I had some carrots to help me coax them. Well, Musse wasn’t a problem. She’s always quiet and easy. But Sille is huge and strong. She had me worried for a second when I was running to catch up with Musse, then Sille started running too and I was worried that I would totally lose control over the situation. But I did manage to get it all sorted out.
Meanwhile I could hear the goats baahing inside. They could hear me and as always they wanted to be fed. They get impatient when they can hear you. And I was greeted by this sight:
“What’s going on on this side?”
There is something funny about a goat head poking over a door like that. It’s always Mads who pokes his head up to see what’s going on. While Magnethe stays in the back.
And of course there was Nina.
I was looking forward to seeing her again. Missed holding her. Missed feeling her sharp claws dig into my arm. She is always kneading her paws against me, and even though it sometimes hurts I still like it.
I let her inside so she could eat while I did the other work. And when I came back she was lying on the couch, stretching out and almost just begging for me to come and cuddle her. I need a cat.
No snow yet, as you can see. There has been a-storming. But no snowstorming. What a gyp!
Received compliments I did. Bodil complimented all my photos that are now hanging on the wall at the playground. Meanwhile I played a little with her dog Lulu. Lulu likes me a lot. That is very sweet. According to Bodil, Lulu doesn’t just take to everyone instantly. But I have been approved as Okay Human. She’s a fun little dog.
And Shermin said that the christmas card I made was nice. Shermin is the girl who helped me with Vanilje and the christmas hat. She’s a real nice girl. She’s been at the playground since before I started going there regularly. Funny that there are kids there who I have known for years now. Kids who think I am an Okay Human as well. I never dreamed it would go like this that first time I bought some bread in Favorit and timidly stuck it out for Mads to bite at years ago. I just wanted to try to take a few pictures of the animals with my camera. And now one million pictures later I am as big a part of the place as most of the kids or the animals are. I belong there. As feelings go, that one is golden.

Does sleet count? We’ve had sleet on Friday and Saturday. There’s so much of it, it looks like snow on the ground. Little bit slick in spots, too.
Horses around here will follow anyone with a big bucket. Preferably with something good in it, but an empty one will do to get them to follow you. Better have a treat though to give out afterward!
How long have you been going to the playground now? It’s nice you feel you are a part of the place. That’s your “herd” like in “Ice Age I & II” with Manny, Sid, and Diego. Have you seen those movies yet? I love talking animals. I know I’ve said it before, but I LUV talking animals!

Deb – I wouldn’t mind some sleet. Sleet’s better than nothing. Hmm, a bucket. Good idea. I shall have to remember that if they decide to run off another time.
Read today’s entry for a detailed history of my.. history with the playground! I haven’t seen the Ice Age movies no. Maybe I should pick them up sometime?
And maybe I should make a video of Mads and do a voiceover, so you could have a talking goat video!

Really! You could do a talking goat video? That would be great and funny I bet. We’d hear if Mads really does have an accent.
Ice Age movies are funny. Sid the sloth is so goofy. I like the first one the best, but the second movie has its funny moments, too.
Now we are supposed to have rain, freezing rain, and then 1-4 inches of snow. I will send the snow your way, if it comes here, okay.
Luis, did you get any of your much needed rain yet? Ours is freezing rain here. You can have some of it.
I like the color of the background behind Nina. It looks good against her different fur colors. She really stands out in that picture.

Deb – Come to think of it, I don’t have a microphone. Maybe I can set up something with earphones.. hmm.. I shall see. There is also the problem of my voice being too ugly to play such a beautiful creature! But oh well. Sloth, is he the one with the nut? I remember something about a litlte critter always out to get a nut. I think the first movie is quite cheaply available now, I’ll looksee for it.
I am happy with those Nina pictures yes, they show her off much better than the ones where she is inside in bad lighting.

That’s Scrat, the squirrel with a nut. Sid is the sloth, Manny is the mammoth and Diego is the saber-toothed lion.
Mmmm . . . don’t think I know what an “ugly” voice sounds like. You would have to let me hear it first before I could make a decision.
Nina should always be photographed with that background – that’s her new color for spring! That will probably be in her contract from now on.
