It’s A Klugh! A Kluugh!
My stomach is doing better. That is the good news. The bad news is that I was still not able to sleep much last night. So it has been a tired day today.
Probably didn’t help that I had to get up early to watch Lost. And by “had to” I mean… had to. Cause I loves my Lost.
I managed to get to work anyway. No sign of photography week. I’m not sure if it was canceled or if I just didn’t look hard enough. I meant to ask about it, but then Mogens, the computer teacher, came and asked if I could help them with their website. I get the feeling that they think I am some kind of leet website builder. If you look at the non-blog parts of plume.dk then you will now the truth. I can only do very simple html stuff. But some of the information on their website is out of date, I should be able to help them get that updated at least. If they can find the password that is. I spent the better part of today trying to log in to their webspace. Mogens said “you have my permission to try to hack into our account”. I am no more a hacker than a website designer. Seems a former employee changed their password and no one bothered to write the new one down. But Mogens is going to contact the hosting company they use and hopefully he can get the password. And then we’ll see what I can do.
At the playground I had a nice talk with Kurt. One of their birds escaped. Mini birds. I forget what they’re called. But really tiny, tiny ones. And Kurt acted out the escape with big hand swings and sound effects. Fun. He also told me that he’s expecting to bring Vanilje back next week. Exciting! I bet she has grown a whole lot. It’s what, almost four months she’s been gone? Crazy. It’ll be great to see her again. I wonder if I will even be able to recognise her. And she will be pregnant, although that shouldn’t be showing yet. Furthermore Kurt is expecting the new piglets within the next two weeks. So there should be good times ahead.
He was playing around with Magnethe too. Him and Shermin here:
A video of it here: http://youtube.com/watch?v=vCJevifdRBY. I think it’s a lot of fun, so check it out if you have the time. If you pay attention you’ll get to hear my voice too. A boy asks if I love the animals. And Mads. Of course you won’t be able to understand a thing of it. Unless you’re Danish. In which case you will be able to understand it. Plume, master of stating the bleeding obvious.
When he wasn’t talking to me or playing with Magnethe, Kurt was busy trimming the trees. Lots of branches falling everywhere. Much to the sastisfaction of the goats.
There’s nothing better than sticks and branches to chew on and wrestle with. http://youtube.com/watch?v=JxxHsWqe0cE. Another funny video. Mads wrestling a branch. It sort of gets lodged between his horns.
And one last video. http://youtube.com/watch?v=fQsC-iE9Ovg. The lambs. My how they have grown. The video contains a little baahing, some running and some humping as well. Yes, they grow so fast.
Congratulations go out to Brøndby, who qualified for the Royal League final today. And on Sunday the Danish league starts. Soccer Sundays are always good.
That’s all for today. Me so tired, baby.

I love your videos… I’ve liked goats for ages, but I’m not confident around real ones (unless they’re the other side of a fence!) But watching your videos lets me know how they play, and how they react, and I can learn from watching Kurt, too.
Keep it up :)

Stu – I am glad I can spread the good word of goats! I remember how I wasn’t very confident around the goats at first either. But the more time you spend with them, the more you get to realize how great they are. There’s nothing to be worried about really.. Even if they do decide to butt you or bite at your fingers or something, they can’t actually hurt you unless you’re really unlucky. That’s one of the things Kurt says in the video actually, in Danish. That even if Magnethe hits him it doesn’t hurt. So get in there and have fun!

Yes, goats are lots of fun. Just remember these are pet goats and Mads is a wethered (neutered) goat. Both our pygmy goats are wethers. It makes them less aggressive and they don’t smell.
I don’t mind the “bucky” smell of intact male goats, but it’s definitely a smell to entice female goats. Intact male goats will break down fences/gates to get at female goats when they’re in season. They are also usually heavier and bigger than the wethered males.

Debster – Yes, my advice was for pet goats of course. If you see a wild mountain goat in the Alps, I don’t know if you should offer it peanuts!
I have only met one intact (adult) goat. He was quite friendly though. And quite smelly. Quite quite smelly.
