Lambattack

It’s raining. And it has been raining all day. Some of yesterday as well. Perfect Danish summer weather.

I have been feeling a little sick the last couple of days. Nothing horrible, though. Just some queasiness. I’ll be fine, fine.

Tonight my dad is coming home from Greenland. And this time it’s not just for the vacation. He is back for good. He is retiring from his profession as a schoolteacher. He’s not quite old enough for retirement, but he shall be going on “efterløn” which is some kind of early retirement thing I guess. So funnily enough we will both be retiring at the same time. Hah. Who would have ever guessed that.

In many ways it will be nice to have him home. I just hope there will be peace in the house, not too much arguing. And then hopefully I will be moving out soon anyway.

Speaking of which, I got mailbombed today. No less than 14 letters from Brabrand Boligforening. The housing organization thing. So I have been offered 14 places. That doesn’t mean I’ll get them though. The 25 highest placed on the waiting list get offered the place. Because usually a lot of people turn down the offers, for various reasons. I’m listed 6-7 on several of them. That should give me a really good chance. But I have to check them out first. Some of them seem a little too expensive and some of them too small. And I don’t know if they accept pets yet. And so on and so forth. I might end up turning them all down. But if some of them are acceptable then.. *crosses fingers*.

It’s not in the best neighbourhood though. It’s one of the “socially challenged” places with lots of immigrants and low-status families. I am low status myself of course, what with the disability retirement. My mother commented that they “turned night into day and day into night there”. Meaning that there’s a lot of noise at night I guess. And I think it’s up there that there has been some clashes between second-gen immigrants and police too. So I don’t know. Maybe I should hold out and wait for something better to come along. I am keen to move out soon though. We’ll see when I have researched the offers a little.

It was just kinda funny, my mother brought in the mail and she was sitting at the dinner table, counting out loud all the letters for me. I usually don’t get that much mail. (Hint: mail address on the right, postcards accepted).

I have a fun surprise coming up soon, hopefully. Might be a week or two. But I just wanted to tease you with it anyway. It’s something that I am willing to bet that none of you will see coming. Nothing nuclearly large, but fun I hope. Tickle tickle tease.

Oh the nerve of me.

PS. Mads on youtube: http://youtube.com/watch?v=y-9HWTYBaZU. Some fun scenes. Starting with a mighty chewing. There are these long stilky weeds growing close to where I live. I broke one off and brought it for the lambs and goats and they loved it. Juicy and crunchy, making for great chewing. And then some possessivenes as Mads chases the other goats away from me. And tries to intimidate the lambs. And then some baahing. He is quite a character.

PPS. Watch out for lambs. I know they’re around somewhere. Ready to strike.

What pets are you gonna get?
If you get a cat, get a nice one :3

  2. Plume Says:

    Clare – I’m gonna get a cat. A crappy one :-P

  3. Debster Says:

Soooo, I take it you will soon be doing a documentary on the seamy underworld of Denmark if you move into one of the “day into night and night into day” places? Better get a BIG MEAN PSYCHO crappy cat for protection!

Can I guess what the surpise is? It’s something to do with the lambs and lemonade and pie?

Clare: have you had a bad experience with an “un-nice cat”?

  4. Anonymous Says:

I’d get a kitty kat, too. They’re basically self-sufficient and don’t require lots of work like dogs, too. I’m here in Los Angeles house-sitting for a friend who’s vacationing in Alaska and she has two kats. They have taken a liking to me, and that’s good.

Unfortunately, I was meditating and feel asleep. One of the kats walked by me and passed gas. I woke up with a start and she meowed at me.

My friend she only does that to people she likes. So I guess that’s a good thing.

If a human did that, I don’t think I’d be too happy. So just settle for nice kat that doesn’t have gas issues.

The above was my entry, Plume. I’m using my friend’s computer.

Anonymous Luis Lemmings: How long have you been meditating? I count my breaths to calm myself down when I get anxious.

  7. Clare Says:

Debster: Yep. I hate cats that scratch D:
    Mine never does. EVER.

  8. Plume Says:

Debster – Maybe I will make a Mockumentary. Like The Office. How about.. The Playground. I should get started on a script.
I wonder if Garfield is available?
You can try to guess the surprise. But you’re nowhere near yet!

Anonymous Luis Lemmings – Yes, a kitty definitely makes sense. And I would love one. It always makes me happy when I feed the animals at the playground and I get to let Nina inside and hang out with her. She never passes gas. Well, at least not when I’m around. Sille the horse often passes gas. It’s so funny. When she starts running then often it’ll just come farting out. And I don’t know whether to laugh out loud or try to hold my breath. Also I think I once heard a news report about cows farting. Apparently they were polluting the atmosphere or something like that. I forget.

Clare – Can I have your cat? If she’s not gassy, that is.

  9. Debster Says:

By the way, goats pass gas. Yes, I’m speaking from experience!

Clare: I take it your kitty has no claws?

Surprise guess #2: Are there costumed goats in a video?

  10. Clare Says:

    Nope, she has them :)

  11. Luis Lemmings Says:

I’ve been meditating for years. It helps me cope with the crazy world we live in. Plus, it also helps to keep my boundaries intact so that I don’t revert back to being a codependent person.

I didn’t know goats pass gass. Do you think my lizard passes gass, too??

  12. Debster Says:

Luis Lemmings: I’m reading “The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying” by Sogyal Rinpoche right now. It’s very interesting. Some of it I think I can understand and there’s lots of it that I don’t.

Been there, done that with the codependent issues – not a good place to be.

I will have to look it up about lizard gas! Don’t know if that issue ever came up in any Godzilla movie. Wouldn’t that be awful if Godzilla had gas! He’d be flaming out both ends. hee, hee

  13. Luis Lemmings Says:

I’m very much in meditation, and I encourage everyone to try. I took a class a couple of years ago. It was great!

Thank you for the book recommendation. I’m always on the lookout for books that epouse finding your innerself in terms of happiness, calm, and stress-free living.

I miss my lizard and my turtles :(. The gardener, who also loves the turtles is taking care of them.

…and Tokyo will be in flames with all that gas!!

  14. Plume Says:

Sogyal Rinpoche is a darn sweet name. Maybe I should try out meditation? Sometimes being with the goats is like meditation. When I sit with Mads and he’s staring off into the distance and I’m just looking at him, I imagine that’s not completely unlike meditating. Of course it slightly disturbs my trance when he turns his head and tries to take a bite out of my jacket.

Uh oh, there goes Tokya. WE LOVE YOU GODZIRRA!

  15. Debster Says:

Mads is meditating! I wonder if he can teach me to meditate in the way of the goat? Plume, there you go with a new career. You can be “Mads, the Meditating Goat’s” handler.
