Our Land Of White Noise

Rain. Rain rain rain. It has rained all day long.

And it struck me that I will never get to lie in my bed and listen to the rain hitting the roof again. I will be living in an appartment block. At the bottom. The rain will hit the roof far above me. That’s a bit of a sad thought.

But it’s not the end of the world. I will still be able to hear the rain falling outside. Just not on the roof. Unless I climb up on the roof. I wonder if that is possible. Probably not.

Got another letter from my ISP. My connection should be up and running on August 2nd. The day after I move in. So that would be awesome. Let’s hope nothing goes wrong there.

Filled out some forms today. Reporting the address change to the relevant authorities. My house number is still 50, that is funny. From Ryhaven 50 to Xvej 50. Ground floor, center appartment. Or should that be first floor? I forget how it is in America and England. The bottom floor. Isn’t 1st floor actually the second in America? Then what is the bottom floor called? Hmm.

Okay, according to wiki: But in North American usage (except in Qubec), the floor at the ground level is usually, but not always, the first floor and the floor above is the second floor

So that means that by American definition I do live on the first floor.

Right?

That makes a lot more sense to me than the way we do it with “first floor” actually being the second.

Terribly interesting all, isn’t it?

I haven’t done much today. Been feeling a bit sickly. Slept a lot. Too much probably. I wouldn’t be surprised if I can’t sleep tonight. But oh well. It was nice to lie in bed and listen to the rain and doze off. Wake up and listen to the rain and doze off again. And I did manage to see the goats, before I started feeling off. They were inside, of course. You wouldn’t catch them outside in weather like this! I probably interrupted them in making plans to emigrate to Hawaii or something. I don’t think Danish summer was made for goats.

For Plumes it is just fine, though.

Just fine.

In one and a half hour I enter the last week of living at home. I am counting the seconds.

One more week before you move out. How exciting! Man, things are going to change. That big weight on your shoulders will be gone, and you get to be more yourself…the true, happy self.

In France, the first floor is actually our second floor here in the USA. I’ve always gotten that confused.

I don’t think the goats would like the weather here in San Deigo. It’s terribly muggy and there are thunderstorms a lot in the mountains east of the city. You could hear them.

Have you heard of ComicCon?? It’s held every year at the San Diego Convention center. It’s the biggest one in the world–or so they say. I’ll be going this Saturday with my best friend.

There are literally hundreds of thousands going. We have to get there early to park in the underground parking lot.

It’s lots of fun and you get to pick up a lot of free stuff. I’ll get some for you and mail it as a belated birthday gift.

Just let me know what you’re partial to and I’ll keep an eye out for them.

Luis Lemmings – Exciting is right! I can hardly imagine how it will be, so completely new and different.
I have heard of ComicCon yes. I hope you’ll have a good time! I’d kinda like to go to a convention some time. Just two problems with that.. A) I don’t think there even are any in Denmark. And B) Thousands of people might be a bit much for me! But maybe some day.
Freebies would be cool! I’m generally more partial to DC than Marvel. And TV stuff like the simpsons and Futurama. Star Trek and Star Wars. I don’t even know what there will be at ComicCon. Is it only comics? If there’s any Lost stuff then I’d dig that. But anything would be nice, thank you! You’re a hero!
