1st Prize… 1st Prize… 1st Prize…
The picture in the previous entry was for a couple of guys at the playground. They wanted me to take a picture of them while they were cuddling Black. Then they asked if they were going to be in the paper. Hehe. I told them that I wasn’t a journalist, I was just taking pictures for fun. But that they might end up on the internet. So I wrote down the address of my blog for them.
That explains that.
I had a sweet time today. The big animal show. Or animal fair? I’m not sure what it’s called. Dyrskue in Danish. It was great fun.
I went down to the Electric City store with my camera first. The clerk wanted to give me a replacement. But they didn’t have any left. Damn. So instead we had to send it off for repairs. I can expect it back in 10 business days.
I could have used it today. But my old camera had to suffice.
I got there early and sat down with the goats. Waiting for the show to start.
And would you look at Mads.
Ahahaha. All dressed up for the event.
I’m not sure he’s amused by it though. “Psssh, humans…”
Doesn’t he look like a French painter or something?
I think he found the whole thing rather silly.
And you know, the harder you try to drag him the harder he will resist. If you tie him down then he will insist that he has places to go, but if you want him to go somewhere then he will insist that he’s perfectly fine right where he is. That goat has got a mind of his own.
We did manage to get him to come with us to the little field. Mathilde and Magnethe came with no fuzz.
Mads: “We’re going where? I’m not going anywhere! You can’t make me! I want to stay here! Don’t you try to pull me anywhere! Let me go! Let me gooooo!”.
Magnethe + Mathilde: “We’re going where? Oh okay, let’s go then”.
Just an informal little thing. People could bring their own animals and show them off but I think there were only animals from the playground there.
Sheepies.
Horsies.
Roostafaris.
Bunnies. Magnethe was very interested in that bunny. I think she might have a crush on him. If it’s a him.
So basically all the animals were lined up around the center spot. They all had kids assigned to take care of them. I was assigned to Magnethe, of course. There was a professional judge who went around and looked at the animals and gave them grades.
And the bigger animals had to do a walk-about in the center.
A horse’s butt. You saw it here first. They put in a lot of effort to make them look good.
Eventually it got to be the sheeps’ turn. So the Mama sheep and her two lambs went into the circle to do the walkabout. Apparently the goats thought that looked like fun, so they followed right in after them!
Haha. So the sheep got out and now it was the goats’ turn. But the goats followed the sheep out of the ring and didn’t feel like going back in. Oh dear. Mads had to be dragged again. And I had to pick up Magnethe and carry her into the center. When I put her down in there she walked very nicely along with me though. And I guess it wasn’t a complete mess because she scored a 23.
The judge said that he was judging by the same principles as he would at a real fair. And that the top score was 24. No one got that. But then no one got under 20, so I think he might have been a little kind to the kids. Just a little.
But 23 from a possible 24, that’s not bad for my first animal show!
And we got a gold medal, Magnethe and I! She was very impressed with it. For 10 seconds, then she realized that she couldn’t eat it and she turned back to grassing.
I was proud though.
Giving out awards.
And I got a diploma too.
If you’re wondering why it looks a little ragged, well… Mads took a couple of bites of it. Hah. Crazy goat.
But that was a big success. Diplomas and gold medals.
Ditte, Kurt and Alice giving out the prizes. Everyone got prizes. Everyone got a diploma. Several got gold medals. But still… I rocked that kid’s animal show!
Kids borrowed my camera. It was a great time, hanging out with them all. Talking to them. Cuddling the animals. Is there anything cuter than kids with animals? It’s so sweet.
Afterwards it was time for cake and lemonade.
Good stuff. Ditte gave me a piece of cake. That was sweet of her. Maybe Skye is right, maybe Ditte is more my type than the bargirl. Hehe.
Surprisingly, Mads wanted cake too.
I’m really glad I did this. Another great experience, another victory against the social phobia. I thanked Kurt for letting me participate, and he thanked me for coming. I love that place, I love those people. And animals of course.
It’s getting late so I’ll close down with two shots of the star of the show.
Magnethe, a winner in every sense.

This is so wonderful, Plume! Congratulations on your award and diploma. Magnethe is a STAR! She’s a very beautiful goat.
You know, I bet you could publish some of these stories and pictures in your local paper. You should try submitting something.
“Surprisingly, Mads wanted cake too.” hee hee.
