Of Plume And The Dark Threat

I did a little shopping today. Supplies for the weekend. And I went by the supersized santas. There was only one left. I think I said that they were almost big as I am? That was a lie. They are bigger. They are taller and wider. They are huge santas and I wish, oh I wish, I could justify spending that amount of money on something so pointless. Maybe next christmas, when I am rich and famous. If everything goes according to plan.

Other than that it’s been a quiet Saturday. Nowt much going on. The footie went well. My beloved Brøndby won 3-0. We now have an 8 game unbeated run. After a horribly poor start to the season things are looking up. That does wonders for my mood.

As do these munchkins:

mads

Mads likes to chew on my sleeve. I like to let him, even though I suppose I shouldn’t. I’ll put my hand up on top of his head so my arm runs along his face and he’ll twist his mouth around until he can start munching on the sleeve. It’s what we do.

magnethe

A poor picture of Magnethe, but I like the squinting eye. Scratching goats, it’s one of my favourite passtimes.

Finally a word to the people involved in the writer’s strike in America: If you cause Lost to stay off the telly until 2009 then I will personally make sure that you are all abducted by martians. Don’t take this threat lightly. It is within my power and I am mad enough to do it.

The end.

Forgot to tell you yesterday was “groundhog day”. Saw a nice sized groundhog along the road. We saw a huge flock of wild turkey on our way to work today. Must have been close to 30 of them, mainly hens and their young from this year.

Since we don’t have any outside cats this year, we put up a bird feeder to see who we could entice up closer to the house. Withing a few hours, two goldfinches (Iowa state bird) were up eating.

We put some sunflower seeds, cracked corn, and a suet cake out. My husband was surprised they had found it already. Will have to make sure the goats don’t figured out there’s cracked corn anywhere close by or they’ll be after it. Don’t think their feet will fit on a perch.

Have seen bald eagles down by the river as well. They winter near the lock and dam system as there is open water there in the winter time and they can fish. Of course, the Mississippi is nowhere near being cold enough to freeze yet. Plenty of barges heading down south full of grain this time of year.

Goatzies sure love their scratches, don’t they? Magnethe looks so funny in your photo. Silly goat! What would they do without us?

I wonder if the writers on strike know how much they have affected the world? Like I’ve said before, we watch mostly wrestling, hunting programs, or wrestling hunting dogs. There are no writers involved with these kinds of shows! ha, ha

The goldfinch is back on the feeder. He’s checking out the suet cake and the thistle feeder. He’s thinking to himself: “I know I’ve been here before and there’s never been anything good to eat.” Now there’s a birdy buffet.”

Debster – I am jealous of all the animals you see. I don’t think I have ever seen an eagle in real life. Bald or or with a giant afro, in either case. I wonder what Mads would look like with an afro. Hmm. my mind wanders. To funny places.
