Memory Carte Blanche
Had a nice time feeding the animals today. As expected.
Mads made a break for it again. His door is quite wobbly, hard to close properly. And he was banging his head against it, trying to get out. So I figured that was a risk. And then when I was getting hay I suddenly heard Vanilje and Magnethe baahing wildly. So then I knew. It’s funny, you’d think that the goat who escapes would be the one baahing, to celebrate his freedom. Not the goats left behind. I wonder if they’re saying “come back Mads, don’t leave us” or “let us out, we want to go too!”. I imagine the latter.
Anyway, I let Mads walk around with me for a bit. It’s nice having him out actually. Letting him stretch his legs instead of being cooked up in that private booth of his. As long as I make sure all the doors are properly closed once I leave the place then there’s no worries.
And then Bodil came along. It was a nice day, so she was on her way to the park with Lulu. Lulu who came running up to meet me. I’m smitten with that silly little dog. Bodil will always go “where’s Plume? Where’s Plume?” and then Lulu will bounce around and look up at me. “it’s funny how she knows you, and your name” Bodil says. And I agree. Sweet. Nice to see them, and talk a little again. We talked about how I’m going to have new pictures up for show. And she said how nice it was for visitors and the kids to have them to look at, because they never used to have so many pictures up. Just one or two. It’s lovely that I’m able to give some positivity back to the playground.
Some pictures from today, with too much flash:
Mads, before his escape. I put food in his bucket and then I went in to give food to the other three. And Mads didn’t even notice that I had given him food already, he was more preoccupied with the food that the others were getting. I had to go back in to his booth and pick up the bucket and shake it around and put right in front of him. “You HAVE food, you crazy goat”. If there is one thing that a goat wants more than food then it is food that other goats are having. Even with three buckets of food for three goats you still have them chasing each other around because they’re never happy with the bucket they’re at. You never know, there might be something MORE Tasty in that bucket that the other goat is eating from…
Vanilje, looking like she’s smiling with her eyes closed.
And Nina, inside. She didn’t feel much like going out when I had to leave. She was meowing at the door to come back in. But she would set off the alarm, so no can do.
That’s all for today. Tomorrow it’s soup day, baby. Oh yeah. That’s how I roll.
My christmas wishlist: 10 seconds of joy.

So if you put Nina outside and her food is inside, what does she do when she’s hungry?
I had the exact same problem with our three boys tonight. Everyone has the same grain in three different bowls, but they were all switching bowls and butting heads and running into me.
Then they even go back to their original bowl and they know what’s in it! Goofy goats!
It’s cold outside and we’re supposed to get a “wintry mix” tonight. We have 2-3 inches of snow on the ground right now.
PS: I’m mad at you, Plume! You never told me Viggo Mortessen was part Danish. (Lord of the Rings, Aragorn/Viggo). His mother is American and his father is Danish. Viggo has dual citizenship with both countries.
I love Viggo Mortessen!

Debster – She has her own little place in the chicken coup. There’s a hole in the roof where she goes in and then she has a box and blankets and food and water there. But I do think she prefers being inside at the playground main building. Or maybe that’s just cause she likes the company.
I wish we had snow here. Although the goats are probably happy we don’t!
I could have sworn I told you about Viggo! We’re all very proud of him. He speaks Danish as well and we (I speak for EVERYBODY in the country of course) adore him to bits. He once did a booksigning in my hometown, but I missed it. Ooh, it’s on youtube! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YZaKXYSLleU
How about that.
It’s Mortensen, though!
