For The Submarine
Well whattaya know. It snowed today. Here I thought the weather was getting warmer. But then I was sitting on the bench with both goat kids in my lap and suddenly snowflakes started falling. Which made the little blackheaded kid whir her head around and sneeze. Too cute.
Very little snow though. Nothing that lasts.
And did I sit with both goat kids in my lap? Yes I did, I did. It was a happy accident. I sat on the bench with the blackheaded one. And then the brownheaded one succeeded in jumping up on the bench on her own. I’d seen her try a couple of times without luck. But this time she managed. And then she came over and said hello. She’s very curious, she’s started to climb up on me and nibble on my coat and so on. I scooped her up and placed her next to her sister and so it became that I was holding them both and life was good.
It probably won’t be long before they’re too big to be held together like that.
A video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9KFe4C6TaEg. The kids on their first day outside. Jumping on the hay bale. Aren’t they just lovely?
Yes, they are. They are.

We saw baby goat goodness today. Our neighbor (where Frankie came from) had 2 baby goats born on Feb. 14th. We went to see them and they were hilarious to watch.
First the buck would chase mama, two babies, and a black goat (all pygmy). Then they would all chase the buck around to the other side of the pen. Then the babies would run as fast as possible back to the other side and throw in a little leap in the air over some imaginary obstacle.
Then they would jump up on the their mama. Of course, everyone was bleating and baaaing like crazy. They kept this up for a good 5 minutes.
My husband and I laughed so hard at them chasing each other. I also got to pet the little donkey. The other donkey is a little more shy, but the one who is friendly would stand there all day to be scratched. They were more dignified and didn’t do any leaping or jumping.

Debster – Hehe. It sounds like a good time. And for some reason I’m getting these mental pictures of the goats chasing each other around like in a Benny Hill chase scene, you know?
A dignified donkey? Well now I’ve heard it all. Perhaps it is a royal donkey?

Yes, I think Benny Hill would have fit right in with the goat chase. (Add funny music and speed up the chase.)
The little donkeys come and stand near the fence. I hear them saying: “Would you please like to pet me, if you’re not too busy?” “I’ll just stand here quietly while you decide”. *Sigh*
I would love to bring my brush and comb the donkeys. I’m sure the one would stand still forever for me.

Debster – When you said you’d love to bring your brush, I thought you were going to say that you wanted to paint them! Hehee!
