The Pod People

I took a nap today. And woke up bathed in sunlight. It was like summer, real summer. Warm and cozy. I felt like a cat, stretching my paws across the universe.

Today is a holiday in Denmark. Big praying day. I did not pray, but I did go to the playground. Surprisingly. I got there just as Jannie was finishing off the feeding. Had a good time with the goats, naturally. Also several families dropped by and I got to help the kids with the kids. Humans with the goats, and vice versa.

One mother brought a bag full of old apples and bread and other edibles. The goats sure loved her! And I even found a snack that Lakrids liked. So far the kids haven’t been too interested when I offer them treats. Raisins or peanuts or bread. Doesn’t do the trick. But part of the mother’s bag of edibles were some.. pea pods. I think. Yes must be. Something like that. With the peas not really developed. But anyway, I broke off a little piece and offered it to Lakrids and she took it and chewed it down. That made me happy. I kept offering her new bites and she kept taking them. Little brownie didn’t care for them, though. I’ll have to see if I can find something she likes. Oh, Lakrids likes my nose too. She’s been biting at it a lot lately. Normally they’ll jump up and chew on my cap a little, but Lakrids has been aiming lower and chewing on my nose. It makes me laugh. It’s just too cute. She chews on fingers too, I guess she has a taste for human flesh. Let’s hope she comes off that. Can you imagine a grown goat with a taste for human flesh? It has the makings of a classic horror movie I say.

Anyway, why not with the pictures yes?

Mmm pea pod! I like that picture. Lakrid’s tongue.

And there she is again, going for the pea pod piece. That’s a position the goat kids get in a lot, when I sit on the stool. They’ll jump up, but they can’t get all the way up to stand on me. So often they’ll end up with their hind legs on the ground and their front legs across me like that. I love their determination. When they try to jump up on you they seem so focused on it. So determined. Like the only thing that matters in the world is to get up on top of you. And if they don’t make it they’ll just try again. With little grunts and focused eyes.

A bigger pea pod attracts the attention of mama Magnethe. She quite liked them too.

Hmm, I feel like fresh peas now. I usually only get the frozen kind. I wonder if I can get fresh ones in the supermarket. Fresh peas remind me of childhood visits to my grandparents and their vegetable yard. Like peas in a pod.

Another one of Lakrids and mama.

Not forgetting brownie. It has been suggested that she might be named Chokolade, which means Chocolate as you might have guessed. I like Brownie, but we really have to pick a Danish name for the kids. Hopefully we can settle for one soon, I think it’s about time!

Taking the long way around. She doesn’t want raisins or peanuts or bread of pea pods, but a little hay she will take.

And that’s all for today. Tomorrow it’s my turn to feed the animals, so I’m sure that will be very nice. And I hope ya’ll will have a nice weekend as well. Watch out for the quakes!

Those remind me of the Chinese pea pods in Chinese food. You eat the pod and all (aka: sugar pea pods). They are usually nice and sweet and a little crunchy, like most stir-fried vegetables.

Lakrids’ tongue is cute. Mmmm sweet pea pods for a sweet goatzie girl. Sure can see they are growing leaps and bounds.

A big praying day? Like for world peace or something?

Debster – I got Italian peas today. How multi-cultural!
Yes, I like the tongue picture. Licking her lips in anticipation.
I don’t think we’re told what to pray for, it’s just a day off to pray I guess. I’m not very religious, but a day off is a day off. Oh wait, I’m retired. I guess I can pray every day.
