The Devil Is In The Sugar
Yesterday was my eye examination. It went okay. They didn’t say a whole lot. The results will be sent to the regular hospital (eye examination was in a different hospital) in 3-4 weeks. They gave me a normal sight test as well. And because of the blurred vision I only have 20-25% sight left. That’s not a lot. “Nope it isn’t” the nurse said. I wouldn’t be surprised if it qualifies me as being legally blind.
It left me feeling rather sad and depressed yesterday. The little devil inside tapped me on the shoulder and whispered in my ear “why would you want to live in a blurry world like that? They took away your sugar and now they’re going to take away your TV and computer, you won’t be able to see any of it. Why go through that when I can offer you eternal darkness and not a worry in the world?”. Damn you, devil. Damn you.
I’m feeling a bit better today, though. I had my appointment at the regular hospital. It went fine. I mentioned the blurry eyesight and the doctor didn’t seem too alarmed. It can happen. Hopefully it’ll get better. Hopefully. I hope. Also I’m going off the insulin injections. We’re going to try out pills instead. Starting tomorrow morning. So we’ll see how my blood sugar feels about that. I have my next appointment at the hospital next Wednesday. And they’re going to call me and ask how I’m doing on Friday. To see if I need to up the dosage of the pills or if I’m doing okay with just the one that I start off with.
They also had the results back from some of the tests they ran when I was admitted. And they all came back clean. I forget what it was all for, but that doesn’t matte ranymore. I “only” have diabetes. Oh and a little low on vitamin D. Apparently that’s a common thing in Denmark. We don’t get enough sun here. But the doc recommended some vitamins for me.
So that’s all swell and good. After the hospital I stopped at the playground. And finally got to see the goats again. So good.
Look at those sweet girls. How I miissed them. But wait! Do you see that tuft of white in the right hand corner? What? Who? How? When? Allow me to introduce…
A new buck! I can’t properly introduce you since he doesn’t have a name yet. I thought about suggesting Rudolph, but I’m not sure his nose is red enough. He seemed very sweet and calm.
And sure liked to be scratched. All over. I’m sure we’ll be best of friends. And maybe Magnethe will be playing nice too, now.
Peekaboo! Why the long face, Magnethe?
Vanilje wants to lick the side of the blog.
And I managed to get all three goats in the same picture. That ain’t easy, let me tell you. A little bread helped, though. It was raining so we staid inside. Goats wouldn’t make very good mailmen that’s for sure. Once it started raining no mail would get delivered at all. And snow? No way, no how.
That was just what the doctor ordered. A little goat-time for the soul.

That doesn’t sound a lot, BUT there’s a good chance it’ll improve by itself now that you are managing your diabetes. And if it doesn’t there are things that can be done. I completely understand why it freaked you out for a while, though. I told you, though – just send ‘im over – I’ll knuckle ‘im!
I absolute LOVE that new goat of yours. He’s a stunner! I think Thor would be a good name. ‘Cos he had goats and all. Yeah, I think he looks like a Thor.

Wow. That is some new goat. He’s a handsome devil. I hope the girls like him.

Desiree – I sure hope it’ll improve some. It’s no fun not being able to see. Thank god for Firefox’s zoom feature.
Thor would be a great name, but we already had a Thor not so long ago, remember? I don’t think they like reusing names. I remember suggesting a name (I forget what it was now) for one of Magnethe’s kids, but they had had another one by that name previously so I was voted down.
Hanne – That’d be great yes. Can’t hurt anyway.
Debster – I was wondering where you were. I knew you’d like the new guy. Handsome indeed. I think the girls like him… in that “aiiii don’t steal my food” kinda way.

Oh yes – there was a Thor. Hm. Well, whatabout Zeus, then?

Debster – There’s nothing like a little goat romance!
Desiree – Appropriately majestic I think.
