Hearing Kevin Smith talk about Ted Lasso makes me want to rewatch season 1 again. Seriously, if I could tell you to watch one new show from 2020 it would be Ted Lasso. Whenever I hear people talk about it, it’s always in glowing words. Even people like me who expected to not like it. Even people who hate soccer. It’s not a show about soccer. You know, sometimes people ask me why I care so much about what goes on in America.
Apart from the whole ‘having a heart and caring about about more than your immediate next-door neighbours*, there is also the fact that American politics and news influences Denmark. When America withdraws from climate agreements, you know Denmark is in the climate too. And people here read and watch American news. A prominent Danish politician recently used the ‘drain the swamp’ slogan. And all the rhetoric about not letting the government oppress you by making you wear masks and shutting down stores and social distancing and all that… that stuff reaches Denmark too. There’s a seizeable group of people who listen to that stuff. And believe it. And maybe that’s why things are getting worrisome in Denmark now. Our hospitals are under pressure. People are dying. We just escalated to level 5, the highest level of.. levelness. New restrictions. Although most of them are still ‘recommendations’, not legal obligations. But it might be watershed moment. We’ll start to see the nnumbers for the holiday infections soon. We have cases of the new UK variant that is more contagious. And still we have people demonstrating because they can’t get a haircut and they don’t want to wear masks.
Not that I’m blaming all that on America. But we got this social media bubble as well. People who think that everything they hear on mainstream media is a lie, and everything they read on the internet (a lot of which originates in the American ecosystem) is truth.
The time when it took stuff 6 months to a year to get from America to Denmark is long gone. The media, social and otherwise, is here instantly. I wonder what’s going to happen in our next election? Are we going to get this forking insanity too? Where the losers just refuse to accept the results? I can’t imagine that happening in Denmark. But who forking knows anymore.
Anyway. Sorry. Had to get that all off my chest. I sincerely apologise if you read all that. Please accept this tin foil origami swan as a compensation.

With the Garland/Barrett things it has been shown that there IS no morality or ethics or traditions or decorum or anything when it comes to scotus. You fudged the process so don’t blame the opposition for making brownies. Pack the shirt out of the courts. And then when the repubs get in power they can pack it. And then you can end up with a supreme court of thousands of justices and the weight of the ridiculous lifetime appointment system will collapse in on itself and go supernova and maybe you can catch up to the rest of the civilized world and get a working system. Get rid of lifetime scotusses, get rid of electoral college, get rid of presidential pardoning powers, get rid of insane gerrymandering.

Funny, now there are people saying it’s not really Trump supporters doing this. It’s fascinating how such a large group has been trained to think that if the news are coming from CNN or MSNBC then it’s automatically lies, but if it’s a picture someone posted on Facebook then it’s definitely proof of ‘that thing I want to be true’.
At least this is a good chance to thin out the friendlist a bit. I’ve been thinking about downsizing my personal fb, why do I need to be friends with a bunch of people I never talk to anyway? Good goat times today. I’m glad I made it out, despite the temptation to sit and refresh twitter every 30 seconds to see what fresh hell hath awoketh. Much better to be out in the real world, amongst my goat people.
It snow though. Yes, it snow. Not a huge amount. Not enough to freeze over the mud. So… just kinda cold and wet. And slippery. Not great. I think it will be gone very quickly again. But count this as a snow day with gaots. That’s one more than I had all last winter.
The goats were naturally not too amused wit with the cold, white, wet, slippery stuff. But at least they got tretas. And I got some lapgoat time with Milo, Sky and Nuller. Not at the same time, obviously. But still good. And I managed to go for a walk around the pen with the newbs. Even Sassy. I was surprised she followed me around in the snow. She usually just plain refuses anything wet and muddy. But maybe the snow tricked her. Or maybe she was really hungry for treats.
And I didn’t fall once. We’ll see how long that lasts.

It’s really tragic that people died during that coup attempt. A policeman. A former Air Force member. Three others. Died. For what? What did they think was going to happen? Did they think they were going to take over the American govenrment? Stop the American president from becoming president? It’s so senseless.
Remember when the Arizona GOP retweeted a guy saying he was willing to die to stop the steal and asked “are you?”. They literally encouraged people dying for Trump. Insane.

When she finally did come out, some visitors that were at the fence too said “oh here comes the baby”. It’s official. This coup attempt was not nothing, it was close to a castastrophical blood bath. And in any case, it was a big deal. Seeing participants laughing on camera about it is so jarring. Lollol we stormed the capitol. Jesus. Literally, what would Jesus do?
There will never be peace and unity as long as you have Trump empowering the very worst people. Get him the fuck out.

Well, it’s been a year. It certainly has.
What a weird year. It’s the only year I can think of that has been vastly different from all others, on a global scale.
Let’s hope the vaccine will work and we can start getting back towards /normal/?
Not the best of years, obviously. Denmark has managed the pandemic fairly well (so far anyway). But we’ve still had lockdowns and disruption of normalcy.
For me the dominating issue of 2020 was my parents’ health. Other than the pandemic that is going to be the thing I remember the year for most. A lot of fear and worry and helpnessless. Helplessness. Like the pandemic I hope this will also get better in 2021. One can hope.
I had my own little thing in the summer. That one morning I woke up and could barely move from the pain. My tongue like a block of wood in my mouth, completely dry and chewed up. I still don’t really know what happened. For a while I couldn’t sleep more than an hour or so at a time. That seems to have gone back to normal, my sleep and great dreams are backk. And my back pain is back to about the same as before all this happened, or maybe a bit better actually, especially when I get my exercises done. I still feel a bit like my brain got fried, my memory is worse and I have a harder time concentrating. I guess I’m fairly okay now, but that whole thing took a big chunk out of my summer. For a while I didn’t see the goats as much as I wanted to. Hopefully next spring and summer will be good. I just want to sit in the sun with the goats.
The goats have been good. The construction work isn’t great for them, but I’m just thankful there have been no disasters on that front. Hopefully they’ll make it through the night okay. I always worry about all the fireworks. It’s going on constantly now. Poor things are probably scared. Just gotta get through the night.
Yeah a crazy year. I hope you’re all doing out there. Thank you for being there and being supportive through it all. I probably lost some friends over the political rants, but hey. I can’t keep it all bottled up. Hopefully there will be less to rant about next year. After the first month anyway. Sorry if my rants piss you off, but thank you if you put up with me. Me and my family are thankful for all the love.
May 2021 be the best it can be. We’ll do our best.

Good goat times today. Ah, January 1st. The day when I just want to eat junkfood and sleep. But I’m so worried about my goaties that I have to get out in the morning while everyone else is sleeping off the champagne and gunpowder comas to go chevk on them.
It’s a tradition. I always worry about them so much on new year’s eve. Paranoid that I’ll show up and the whole place will have burnt down. But thankfully that has never happened. And today was another fine January 1st with goats. All of them out of the pen and seemingly perfectly happy. It can’t have been a fun night for them. I hate to think of them cooped up together in the dark, not knowing why there are constant explosions outside for a while. But at least it’s only one night. And they didn’t seem bothered. And I didn’t find any blown fireworks in the pen, I always worry that someone might throw fireworks after them, or some stray rocket goes in the pen. I really wish fireworks could just be banned. Have professional people do professional displays at midnight and stop kids being jerks with bombs. Honestly, I was a kid being a jerk (well, a little) with bombs on new years. I get it. But ban it and that’ll be normalized soon enough and people can enjoy beautiful fireworks displays and not have to worry for their safety and whoops this wasn’t meant to be a rant.
Well, it was good to be with the goats. Hopefully 2021 will have lots more of that. And I hope you all got through the night well too. Onwards and goatwards.

Oh by the way, 2020 had one last little kick in the nertz for our family, as my brother managed to hurt himself at work. I think he was doing some restocking and there was for some reason some broken glass and he cut himself. Had to go to the doctor and get stitches. He’s doing okay, but I sure am glad that it’s now 2021 and nothing bad can happen anymore. It’s like having superpowers, I think I’m going to go jump off a building because I’m pretty sure an open truck delivering matresses will pass by underneath as I fall. Best year EVER
