Bee Mine

February 15th, 2015

It’s been winter holiday in Denmark this week. Kids out of school. So I got to see my goatbuddy Abdul at the playground again. Been a while. With the cold I’ve been going home earlier and he has his school of course. It was nice to see him again. Still smiling and happy to be around the goats.

Other than that it’s been a pretty quiet week. I’ve been working on getting a new TV. To replace the broken one. It’s difficult finding something that will work for me. With my eyesight I can’t get something too small. But because I sit close to the screen I can’t get something too big either. I ended up ordering a 32″ one. It might turn out to be too big. But if it is I’ll just have to replace that too. We’ll see. I miss having quick access to the Danish TV2 News channel. Especially the last few days with the presumed terrorist attack in Denmark. Two dead, plus the attacker. Good thing he didn’t get in where he wanted to go or things could have gone much worse. But it’s still really, really sad. And disturbing.

But let’s think about something nice. Like goats. I am tired. So go go goat Photos. First with a couple of Valentine’s Day specials.

Sweetness.

Kamel and my little goathelper Abdul.

And a goatlog. With the usual goating around.

And that’s all for this week, folks. See you in the next one.

Snow Today Gone Tomorrow

February 8th, 2015

It’s been a cold week. But the weather is getting warmer now. Just when the snow was starting to clear last week, more of it came. Might have been the most we’ve had this winter. Now it’s all gone again. The forecast says temperatures above zero for the next few weeks. Maybe that was the last snow of the season? I always feel conflicted about it, because the snow is so pretty and I love seeing the goats in it. But I freeze my bits off. Seeing the goats yesterday I actually didn’t have to use chemical handwarmers. How novel. I’ll miss the snow but I’ll enjoy the slightly less coldness. And looking forward to spring. More sunshine, please.

The goats will probably enjoy the warmer weather, too. But not the mud. Which there’s bound to be plenty of.

Yesterday I caught the quite unusual sight of Kamel climbing around on the wooden staircase. She normally rarely gets off the ground. And very rarely all the way up on things. But this time she did, several times. It was quite amusing to watch. I could see she was trying to figure out how to get back down again safely. Her balance isn’t the greatest. Gravity is hard on her large frame. She sort of stumbled down more or less a couple of times. Cute, though. You can see a bit of it in the goatlog. Along with how I let her in by herself on Saturdays when I’m often the one who closes up. I open the gate for her and she knows she has to be quick before the others come and try to get out as well. And then she runs around to the other side of the building and gets in through the front door where I put a bucket for her. She can eat from that while I let the others in through the hatch. And they can fight over the other buckets.

I’m pretty sure Mia is pregnant. She seems to be growing a milk bag. She’s a skinny girl, though. It’s not very apparent. But I’d say something is coming. Herman left 11/11. So it could be April potentially before anything happens. It will be awfully sweet. Though I’ll worry about her health of course. And it will be a little sad seeing her and Palle grow more apart. But let’s just hope everything goes well and happily. Fingers crossed for good times.
On the homefront, my TV unfortunately stopped working suddenly. What a bummer. I use it as my computer screen too. I’ve had to hook up my old computer monitor for that instead. It’s okay, but the sound is bad. And I listen to a lot of music and youtube videos. So that’s no good. Finding a replacement has proven tricky. I was using a 26″ TV. And those are apparently not very common. I remember when I bought it, I first got a 32″ one. But that was too big. With my limited vision I just couldn’t see enough at a time on it. Most TVs I see now are either 24″ or 32″. I found a 28″ one that I’ll probably end up ordering. I just hope it’s not too big. We’ll see. It’s odd being without TV. I usually put the TV2 News channel (the Danish CNN sort of) as background noise when I don’t have the computer running. I feel somewhat cut off! But hopefully it will all be resolved next week.

Now let’s go to photo. First one of the snow, and then one of how I dress for it.

And a couple of the funnies.

Oh yeah, Clark has attitude!

Roar.

And a goatlog. With the snow coming and going and the goats bleating and eating and butting heads. And Kamel’s adventures.

And that’s all for this week, folks. See you in the next one.
