Pine Fresh

January 12th, 2014

It has been a pretty rainy week. Two out of three goat visits this week ended up with me sitting inside with the goats. Listening to the rain falling outside and the goats chewing on hay inside. But that is still a good time. On the non-rainy day the goats had gotten yet another christmas tree. This one was a really big one. I propped it up and watched the goats enjoy it. I love seeing Mia and Palle jumping up on the wooden staircase to reach the higher parts.

I think Mio is starting to get a little annoyed at her bigness. Maybe kids are forthcoming in the near future. It certainly seems likely. It wouldn’t be the best of timing I guess, since we’re moving into winter weather now. Next week might be freezing and snow. I will just have to keep them warm with a million hugs.

I called Bodil on Thursday. To ask how Sif was doing. She has had some minor surgery. But you always worry, don’t you? I was glad to hear that Sif was doing fine, though. And the surgery seems to have helped with the problems she had. So that’s good. And I should get to see them again next week. It’s not many people I’d feel comfortable enough with to just pick up the phone and call! But Bodil is one, for sure.

Other than that, time marches on like some kind of band that marches, possibly. Here follows the selected goat photos of the week.

Fluffy Kamel. I love the gap in her teeth.

She’s a champion tree eater.

Me and the expecting Mio.

Got some raisins, dude?

And a goatlog. The two days inside because of the rain. And the one day outside with the big christmas tree. I spooked the goats a little when I wanted to move it. Aw you big scaredy goats!

And that’s all for this week, folks. See you in the next one.

The New Year

January 5th, 2014

It’s a new year. 2014, according to the lovely family calendar that DesirĂ©e sent me.

New year, same old life. Pretty much. I had planned to take a couple of days to do absolutely nothing after new year’s eve. But of course I changed my mind the morning of January 1st. Just had to go see the goats to make sure they were okay. And they were. Of course. It’s the same every year, I can’t help worrying about them especially on new year’s night. But they’re always okay. Thank goatness. And I’m sure they didn’t mind me coming by with a little old fruit for them. Came back on Friday and they were still fine. A couple of christmas trees in the pen for them. They always enjoy that a lot. And I always enjoy watching them devour the trees.

Mio is still big. I don’t get the feeling she’s right about to pop, though. A visiting father, with his little boy, asked how long before there would be babies? I said it would probably be 2-3 weeks. According to my calculations it can’t be later than January’s end. But of course I’m no math wiz… Still, it could happen any time I guess. It will be a good start to the new year with goat babies. Though Mia will probably get jealous if I spend too much time with them. She has nothing to worry about, though. I’d never forget her!

But other than that it’s pretty much business as usual. Trying to get back on track with healthy living after an unhealthy holiday season. Exercising. Looking foward to spring. May it come swiftly.

On with pictures.

Mia looking very pretty.

Funny look!

The goats on the morning of January 1st. All good and happy to see me!

Lovely Kamel. She’s got her own little fanclub on Facebook now. Well deserved!

Kamel and Mia, waiting to be let out.

Mia and Kamel enjoy their respective trees.

And a video. Before and after new year’s eve. And a little bit in the dark on the morning of the new year.

And that’s all for this week, folks. Here’s to a good year for us all.
