Good goat times today. Gorgeous day. High sun and upwards of 22C/71F. That’s a good summer’s day in Denmark. Lots of lounging around and relaxing. Goats panting from the heat. Breaks to drink water from the buckets. Spent some good time sitting on the grassy end of the mountain watching the goat graze too.
Quite a lovely day, nothinig too exciting happening, but we’re just enjoying the sun while we have it.
I din’t get quite enough sleep last night, so I was almost dozing off in the sunshine too. Rolling over on my side like a zonking goat. Maybe I should put up a hammock. And then take it down a minute later when a goat is tangled up in it.
Now I think I’ll treat myself to a little soup.

Got an hour twenty on the bike today. Legs felt good, sun was powering in. A good session. Now I’m going to grab a bite to eat, a plateful of tomato and cucumber, and then tonight it’s time for Denmark’s last group stage game in the ballsportsfoot. Against Serbia. Hard to know exactly where we stand, but we have a decent chance ot qualifying for the knockout round. Knockout those balls, guys!

The feetsballsports is over for tonight. Denmark drew for the third time in the group stage, 0-0 against Serbia. But that was enough to take second place in the group. after England. I know Americans will admire the sport even more. Three games, no wins, but we’re through! Haha.
Well, now we’re going to meet Germany. The hosts. And they are way better than us. We did okay against England but we’re not at Germany’s level, and they have home advantage. Hard to imagine we have a chance. I’ll refrain from going into a long ramble about that glorious day in 1992, the bset year, when we won the European Championship by beating.. Germany, in the final.

Good goat times today. Bloody gorgeous day. Maybe teh warmest yet, up to 25C/77F. That’s hot for Denmark! Goats panting in the heat. Lots of lounging around. Grazing the nice grass, the earlier rains were good for something. Sweet visitors too. A couple of kindergarteners running around in the pen, petting and feeding the goats. Another kid lectured us about goat poop, as I don’t know! “That’s the goat’s butt, that’s where the poop comes out and then it gets turned into fertilizer”. Smart kid!
Later on it got so hot that me and the goat gang retired to the goat bedroom where it was nice and cool. Sat in there for a while. When it was time for me to go home I sat out in the doorway to do some back stretched before leaving. A young couple came over to the fence and said hi. They said they were hoping to see the goats, but maybe they were on vacation? No, I told them, they’re sitting right in there and pointed to the entrance. I told them they could come in and say hi to them if they wanted. So they came in for a quick look. The guy marveled at how big the kids had gotten, he told me he’d seen them when they firsrt arrived a year ago. Yeah, they sure have grown since then. The young couple thanked me and wished me a good day and were on their way. A beautiful day to be out and about.

Here is Sky and Bella ‘sharing’ breakfast. Not with Sky’s blessing. I have noticed lately that Bella has gotten more dominating. I used to be able to feed all three goats with two apples, one in each hand. Sky would be eating from one apple, Bella and Luna from the other. I can’t really do that anymore because Bella will chase away Luna, or more often Luna will simply withdraw by herself. Bella is too dominant. So I have to put in some extra effort to make sure Luna gets a good share.
And several times recently we have had this happen in the morning. When Bella finishes her breakfast bowl she’ll go to Sky’s and try to get at it. And Sky is of course not happy about that and some headbutting will ensue. Sky stands her ground, but she can’t really chase away Bella like she used to. Bella will persist, and they’ll end up more or less eating from the same bowl. That would never have happened a couple of months ago.
I wonder if we’re getting close to a point where Bella will overtake Sky and become the strongest and the leader of the herd. Or if they’ll remain more equal. I do feel a little bad for Sky, she’s been through so much. She used to have to run for her life and was always the lowest on the totem pole. At least she’s had a year as undisputed queen. I hope she’ll be able to stand her g ground against Bella.
It’s not like any of them are starving. We recently put a lock on the door to the storage room because wae think people may have been giving them food without permission. They only need a little bit of the grain and goat pill mix. Some say they don’t need that at all, but we’re following the vet’s orders on that. We just don’t want random people giving them extra.

Phew, it’s a hot one today. I have my fan going right at me from right next to me, usually I have it blowing against a wall in the other side of the apartment because I get too cold but I need it running to have background noise against the noisy building. But right now i need it to blow me. Oh yeah.
Here’s a picture of me and the goat gang hanging out in the goats’ bedroom where it was cooler than in the blasting sun. I tried so very hard to get a photo with all of us all in the frame. It was hard with Bella up against the right wall and Sky on the left under the hayholder. But hey, Sky still has her head on, I swear! Luna sitting at me feet, I love how she always wants to sit near me.

Good goat times today. Another gorgeous day, even hotter than yesterday. Up to 28C/82F. That’s scorching for Denmark! There was a nice breeze and some light cloud cover that made it more bearable. The goats were panting in the heat again. When it’s this hot then around noon they just need to get in the shade and sit and relax. I don’t mind at all Luna gave me a little scare when it was time for me to leave, I went down to the gate and handed out peanuts to distract and then I noticed Luna wasn’t there. So I went back in the pen and up to the goat house. Found her in there, she had just been too tired to get up. Those goats live a hard life! I gave her a peanut and she followed me out for a proper goodbye with the others.
But before that we had had a big day with lots of visitors. More than usual. Seems like there was a big outing for various kindergarten and daycare groups. Lots of people in the pen. Excited kid petting and feeding the goats. There was a little boy in a wheelchair. It was a fancy driving one. He came into the pen with the others and he really wanted to pet the goats. I think he had some muscular issues, not just walking, he was swaying his arms around kind of uncontrollably. Not sure the exact nature of his condition, but he drove the wheelchair into the pen and over grass and dirt just fine. But not surprisingly the goats were a little scared of the wheelchair. They didn’t run away in a panic, but they did back off with a “don’t come near us with that thing” look. I got a peanut out and lured Bella over to the wheelchair and hid it a bit from her so the had to dig in my hand to get at it. And while she did that the boy managed to touch her a little, he couldn’t really pet her, because of his lack of control of his arms too it seemed, but he got to touch a goat and his adult minders thank me. That was sweet. There was another kid in a stroller, they were watching the goats and the front end of the stroller was kind of up in the air and the wheel kept spinning and Bella and Luna were staring at it like it was hypnotizing them. They didn’t seem scared by that one, but of course it wasn’t a mechanical thing moving around unpredictably. Just that spinning wheel.. spinning.. spinning..
But yeah lots of people having a good time in the goat pen, very nice.
When I got home I took advantage of the heat to get an hour in on the bike. Phew. I am beat now. Tired like a goat at noon on a sunny day.

Can’t wait to wake up tomorrow and see the results of the great debate. Weekend at Bert vs Ernie’s. It really is staggering to see two sides fight over which candidate can almost string together a coherent sentence, and whether they’re on drugs or Mickey Ds to accomplish it.
Well, you know where I stand. And we all know nothing that happens in the debate will make a diference, but maybe the memes and rageposts will make up for it.
With these two old geezers and the whole lifetime scotus thing, I ccan’t help but wonder if the movie Logan’s Run didn’t have a good idea. Okay, 21 may be a little young. But how about politicians get expired at let’s say 50. Let young people govern the world they’re going to live in. Old people running it doesn’t seem to have worked out super great for us.
But what do I know, I’m just a simple Hyper-Chicken from a backwoods asteroid. BAWK. Sorry, I thought you was corn.

Got an hour twenty on the bike today. Good sweaty fun. Tonight is the big ball event. Denmark versus Germany in the European Championboatships 1/8th final. Germany huge favourites, i am not expecting anything, But you never know. Stranger balls have happened. Don’t mention 1992, I mentioned it once but I think I got away with it.

Welp. Denmark-Germany paused because there’s a thunderstorm over the stadium. Dark clouds indeed, Germany has been way better. But still 0-0. Hopefully the game can get going again. Ligtning and balls don’t mix.

Balls.
That was the end of the road for Denmark in the European ball tournament. Germany wins 2-0, deservedly so.
But man, it’s a bummer. After the big storm break, we started the second half by going ahead 1-0, we thought. Then VAR took away the goal. The video check. And then literally two minutes later VAR called a penalty for Germany that no one had seen. And from there it was pretty much over, we could have lost bigger. Germany just much better. Denmark is a tiny country, and it shows. When our key players aren’t performing then we can’t compete with the best. It’s been quite a while since we performed really well. I wouldn’t mind if we took the chance to get a new head coach.
But anyhoo, now you all can breathe a sigh of relief, no more ball posts from me! Good luck to Germany, the hosts. I’m going to root for Austria though, since their goalkeeper plays for the team I support in Denmark.
Now I need to get to bed soon, this took a lot longer than expected. Alas, Thor could not save us.

Feeling the depression today. Just Sunday blues I guess, I just want to be with the goats. Our little mini heatwave is winding down, the forecast next week is sadly grey. I just want sun and goats and soup and exercise. Can’t believe tomorrow is July already, seems like the months are flying by, like a gif of pages being torn off an oldtimey calendar. Well, my Facebook account got locked again.
This time I didn’t actually have to do anything to unlock it. I just had to click through. I guess because they have my ID from last time. It asked me to renew recent posts, and change my password. Recent posts and comments are all my own. I don’t know why fb thinks my account might have been compromised. I think maybe it’s because I switch into the goat page for doing admin stuff. Sometimes I get logged out after doing that. But I don’t know what to do about that, I have to switch into the page to post on it. They made the system that forces you to switch between your page account and your own personal account, you’d think they could recognise that’s what happening, it’s not someone else signing into your account.
Whatever. i’m worried some day I’ll lose access for good. But for now I guess I’m fine.

Good goat times today. The weather heated up a little bit. Only up to 17C/62F, but that’s an improvement. There were a lot of clouds, but not enough to keep the sun out. So it was quite lovely at times, nice to have some feeling of summer back.
Lots of visitors today. New people found the playground. It got a little rowdy. There was a sweet little girl who came in and gave Luna a full on hug, which was super sweet. Then she went to do it to Bella and too, and Bella was like ‘Nope’. And ran from her. Normally Bella is the confident one, but she seemed a little on edge with all the ruckus and the kids running around. So she ran away, and had kids running after her which just made her run faster. We had to tell the kids not to run after the goats, if the goats say no to socializing then they have to respect that. Things calmed down, and Bella was much happier when the kids came with carrots and started picking weeds for the goats too. They found some weeds that the goats really liked, so that was nice. There was a nice lady with the kids who asked questions and was very complimentary of me and it was all very nice and sweet. Sky got a lot of cuddles because she wasn’t fazed by all the rowdiness at the beginning. I think the kids had quite a good experience, i’m sure we’ll see some of them again.
Once the visitors left the goat gang, including me, sat down and relaxed in the sun. A job well done.

The goats got all worked up again later, when it was time for me to leave. I notice as I was going that my blindey badge was gone. So I had to go back in the pen to find it. I did find it, but Bella managed to slip out the gate when I came back in. So, then I had to try to catch her. But I’d thrown all the last peanuts out on the ground when I was leaving, that’s what I usually do to distract them a bit so they don’t get too upset when I leave. Well, now I had no treats to lure Bella back in. I managed to grab her by the horns, but she wrestled free and now she was even more wary of me. Well eventually I just left the gate open and went back up to the goat house. As I expected, all the goats came following me up there, including Bella. So then I quickly went down and close the gate, with me on the outside. Phew. But all that running aroudn and escaping and all, well it upset the goats. And I felt bad about leaving as they were all crying. Yeah, guilt trip worked. So i went back and gathered some branches outside the grounds so they could have something to snack on instead of yelling after me as I went. Leaving is always a pain!

In case you missed it on the news, today I defrosted my freezer. There is a special pleasure in the big flakes of ice peeling off. A shedding of the winter fur, an unburdening of the troubled mind. Baggage melting away. METHAPORE
Also got a Pepsi delivery, this time with Pepsi. Just to make sure I have it in stock. Never know when we might get an influx of tourists.

Good goat times today. Harsh wind in the morning, and clouds in the sky. But the sun did its thing and warmed up the day nicely. Good to be back to days that at least feel somewhat summery. So good to just sit around and relax in the sun with the goats. Their fur gets so warm under the sun, no wonder they need to just zonk out when we’ve been running around for a couple of hours.
Nice visitors again today. The little boy Khalil was back. He’s always full of energy. Running around. He probably needs a nap when they get back too. He was happy to feed the goats and the goats were happy to be fed. Other than that it was mostly pretty quiet, just hanging around. Relaxing with breaks for snacks. Not too shabby.

Good goat times today. A lovely day, less wind, more sun. Up close to 20C/68F which is quite summery for Denmark. Nice to be sitting in the sun with the goats again.
We had a bunch of visitors too. Sweet kids in the pen, talking to me and the goats. And Jeanette made pancakes for them on the campfire. She asked me if I wanted any, but I politely declined because I’m on a diet. I have barely had any bread the last couple of months, and no cake at all. Trying to keep the streak going. I am also not used to eating around other people and my anxiety and shame would complicate. But it was nice to be asked, and I bet the kids enjoyed those freshly made pancakes on an open fire on a beautiful day. How lovely. The goats enjoyed a branch Jeanette found for them and I brought pumpkin seeds so we had a pumpkin seed feast on the plywood board, nom nom nom.
When I got home I managed to get on the bike for an hour twenty. I had planned to NOT do that to give my legs a chance to recuperate, but the sun got me all in the mood to do some biking. Legs tired now, but worth it.
Almost time for the big footyballsport game now. Denmark vs England. Now that’s a classic. I’ll come back and report how much we won by which is a thing that’s definitely going to happen, words my mark.

Well, the ballfoot game ended 1-1 between Denmark and England. Same result as our first game against Slovenia. That game was a huge disappointment for us, the draw against England is a much better result since England are among the favourites to win the European Championboat. Now remains our last group game against Serbia and we still have a chance of qualifying for the next round. Hard to say where we stand, the last few years our national team has been pretty poorly performing. The game against England showed promise.
Alright enough ball talk. If you read through the sports I will reward you with a funny Denmark fact. In Danish if you want to say someone farted you say they “slog en prut” which literally translates to “hit a fart”. That’s right, in Denmark you hit people with farts. The more you now.

Got on the bike today for an hour twenty. Felt weaker than in a long time, tired and wonky legs. Felt a little deflated afterwards. But perked up when I got my lowest weighed weight since I think 2015. I have a text file with weight results going back to I think 2013. It’s a rollercoaster ride of losing and gaining weight, since I got the diabeetus. I have been lower than I am now, but more often I have been considerably higher. So it’s motivating to see those results. I’ll try to keep going. At some point I have to eat cake again. I must. But I also know myself well enough to know that cake in moderation isn’t at hing for me. Candy in moderation isn’t a thing for me. Junk food in moderation isn’t a thing for me. Once I dip my toe in, I go overboard. But hey, for now it’s a lot of fruits and veggies, and soup. And exercise. And good results. So for now it’s pretty pretty good.

Finished reading Michael Ricchard’s Entrances And Exits. If you’re a Seinfeld fan this is a must read. There’s a goldmine of information and background on how he shaped the Kramer character and what went into. Fascinating stuff, it’s making me want to do another rewatch of the show. Also interesting stories of his past and of course a reckoning of his public meltdown. And a lot of really surprisingly interesting stuff about philosophy and thoughts on religion and stuff. Super interesting read, in my opinion. And the audiobook is read by himself which is always a treat when you read memoirs.
Next up is Carrie by Stephen King. Which I have surprisingly never read. I have been going around debatign whether I should start reading the Dark Tower series, whidh I have also never read. The stuff I read about it is putting me off a little, the gunslinger doesn’t sound appealing to me and it’s not set on Earth I guess? The dark tower concept itself is intriguing and I know it’s very relevant to the whole Stephen King universe. But I just prefer stories set in our world. That’s probably my favourite thing about the King books, the characters and settings, just diving into those, even if the plot goes off the rails sometimes. I’m worried that I might not enjoy it as much if it’s set in other worlds. At some point I suppose I will get to tackling that journey, but for now I guess I’m instead going to fill in some of the blanks in his older bibliography, maybe some of the books I read as a kid and barely remember. It is a treasured memory, getting my mom’s King books and reading those, probably some of my earliest forays into more mature literature. Sitting in the shade in my parents bedroom and reading Regulators and Desperation during a summer holiday is strong memory. When I was younger I think I didn’t like the heat so much. It was cooler in my parents bedroom. When I was a kid I’d sleep with an open window when there was snow on the ground, i’d go walking outside in snowstorms for fun. These days my circulation is show and I can’t stand the cold but I crave the sunny days.
Anyhoo. That’s neither here nor there.
In music news I got the new Eels album Eels Time. Eels is one of my favourite bands of all time, but they haven’t really been able to get back to the highs of Electro-Shock Blues again. That album might be my second favourite of all time, after Adore by the pumpkins. I still love Eels and always look forward to their new releases and usually enjoy them a lot, but it never quite hits the emotional highs of ESB. And I can’t really get myself to really hope they find that level again, because ESB was highly highly informed by personal tragedies. Makes for powerful music, but you don’t want to wish that on people.
On the TV front I’m itching to get started on watching Twin Peaks The Return. After finishing season 2 I have been reading the books. Currently reading The Secret Diary Of Laura Palmer, which must also have been one of my earliest more mature reads. I remember being almost embarrassed when I went and bought it at the book shop in City Vest because .. well it was the diary of a girl! And I was what a 12 year old boy or something like that. Haha. Funny to think of now. Well I have always felt great shame about who I am and what I do. I just wrote on twitter, once you’re fat you’re always fat. No matter how much weight I lose I will always be fat, I will always feel all the shame and pain. Can’t burn that off on the bike. But still, burning the calories is a good thing.
