Plume 2 High Voltage

Someone knocked on my door at 9 am this morning. Some kind of repairman. I assume, I obviously couldn’t really see him. He said he was there to fix a clogged sink. I told him I didn’t know anything about that. He looked at his papers and said “you didn’t call? It says here you did. Hmm, well ok sorry to disturb you”. I guess someone must have called and said I had a clogged sink. That makes me a little paranoid. Why would they do that? They have my name and apartment number? What are they up to? Well, hopefully it was just a simple, innocent prank. Nothing I can do about it anyway.

Later in the day my door was knocked again. Because I ordered takeaway again. Or takeout. I forget what I’m supposed to call it. I think we call it takeaway in Denmark. Which is odd since that’s not a Danish word. But “madudbringning” doesn’t dound as good. I tried another place this time. There is this handy Danish website called just-eat where you can enter your zip code and you get a list of restaurants and such that deliver to your place through that service. I ordered the same thing as last though. Fish and chicken. Fish wasn’t that good. Fries were nice. Chicken for tomorrow. They put some kind of garlic dressing on the salad, though. Bastards.

A video from yesterday’s goat fun? Okay, if you insist. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lqmxrgUae2Y. Several different scenes. Magnethe enjoying the green. Bodil and her pup Sif. Leo the sheeplamb. The goat boys duelling. If you understand Danish then you might get a laugh out of the boy why suddenly for no reason tells Bodil and I “Bye, now I’m going off to London”. And then gets up and leaves. I wonder if he has made it to London yet?

Tomorrow it’s time for the AMD exam at the eye doc. Just in time too. I think my left eye has gotten worse yet again. I’m not sure though. It’s getting hard to tell. We’ll see what they say.

Hee, hee. That video was funny. Sif on a goat!

When Sif was on the ground and the camera showed the faces of the goats… they looked so puzzled! Just what kind of a “goat” is that little thing anyway?

The same with Leo the lamb. He looked and looked at Sif like he was trying to place Sif in his mind. Pig? No. Goat? No. Plume? No. What is it? I give up.

Now unless I’m learning to understand Danish, I could swear that Bodil takes out a treat for Sif and says: “Sit, sit”. Then Sif sits and get a treat and a “good”. Sif and Bodil must be bilingual.

I’m just beginning to understand donkey. Snickers came up to me the other day and nuzzled my hand (the key word here is nuzzled instead of bite). What do you want, I asked her?

She wanted her ears scratched! And she was telling me that. Donkeys, unlike goats, like to have their ears scratched lightly inside and outside.

Snickers gets all blissed out and her lip quivers when you scratch her ears. She’ll have me trained one of these days yet!

We’ll be thinking about you and your doctor’s appointment tomorrow. Let us know what you find out, okay?

The repair guy had probably just gotten the wrong apartment number, I don’t think it was a prank :) My office mates, on the other hand, pulled quite a prank on me while I was away (been to Copenhagen for a few days): when I came back, evrything on my desk (chair, drawers, pens, lamp, coffe cup etc etc) had been tied together with string-it took me a while to get it all disentangled…! I had it coming though, I dressed up the boy’s desks with pink Disney Princess wallpaper and balloons a while ago! :p
Good luck on the doc apointment!

Love the vid, Plume. :))

I get so, so sad when I read your entries. I remember so well how horrible it was for my grandmother – how bitter she was about losing her sight to AMD (diabetes). And from I was a tiny little thing, I’d always use my wish when I blew a candle, saw a shooting star or dropped a coin in the wishing well on my grandmother – I would wish her sight back. And now I find myself doing the same for you. But please don’t hang your hopes on that, because I did it for 19 years for my grand, and it never worked. I’m hoping the acupuncture and op will prove more succesful than all my wishes.

Sending you hugs.

Katrine: You sound like you’d be fun to work with. On April Fool’s Day (a long time ago) one of my co-workers had scotch-taped my desk drawers shut, my chair was taped to the desk, all my pens and pencils were taped together, you get the idea. I walked in that morning and I was just speechless. Then I started laughing. I guess they weren’t sure how I was going to take the joke, but it was pretty funny after all.

Desiree: what a sweet child you must have been for giving all your wishes to your Grandma. She was very lucky to have you for a granddaughter as well as Plume having you for a friend.

Plume: since we live out of town, no one delivers food in the country. So when we phone in for a pizza at the local convenience store (Casey’s), we get a pizza “to go” or ask for a “carry-out” pizza.

And other places where you go in to eat ask if this is “for here” or “to go”. I guess we also use the phrase “take out” food, too. Some of the British comedies we watch say: “take-away” which we thought was funny since we say “take-out”.

If we don’t eat all our food at a restaurant, we can ask for a “doggy bag” or a “to go” box. The “doggy bag” coming from giving your pet the leftovers when you get home. Of course, the doggy may not get the food if the owner gets to it first!

Debster – The goats always pay close attention when there are dogs around. Even tiny little dogs like Sif. But I think they all get along. As long as Bodil is there to referee!
You are right about Bodil getting Sif to sit indeed. Maybe I should put subtitles on my videos.
Magnethe: Baaah (Give me treats!)
Vsnilje: Baaaah (Who said treats? Are there treats? I want treats too!!)
Finn & Jacob: Baah (What is all this talk about treats, where are these treats and how can we get them?)
Magnethe: Baaah (okay, everybody be quiet or he won’t give us our treats!)

And so on.
We have doggy bags in Denmark as well. In fact Selina Juul, facebook geeky model and world saviour, is trying to it to be used more often here as part of her Stop Wastaing Food campaign these days. I personally think they should be called goaty bags, because goats love food more than dogs do.

Katrine – Well I got the impression that he thought I had called personall, but now that I think about it perhaps you’re right. Let’s hope so anyway. And let’s hope no one decides to sneak into my apartment and tie everything down with string!

Desiree – You are so kind and sweet. I hope your wishes help. Emotionally they do anyway. I hope you don’t get too sad when reading my entries. Sometimes it’s hard to stay positive. But I try. Thank you for the help.

Children Of A Lesser Goat

August 16th, 2009

I managed to get to the playground today. Thank goats for that. As always they are a sanity pill in the insane asylum of life. They still manage to make me happy whenever I see them.

They were out of their pen today. Spring has sprung well and the powers that be granted the goats some time with the fresh new greens.

Magnethe diving in. She was tied down along with Vanilje. While the boys roamed free.

Running around in a blurry blur. Exploring their new surroundings. And pushing each other around a whole lot. They really are getting into the rivalry. Every chance they get.

A bunch of kids came visiting, kindergarteners perhaps. The boys ran up to them and were very popular with everyone. I decided to give them a show and let Finn dance around on my back for a while. Everybody loved it. I thought I got some video of the happy outbursts, until I realized that I had the camera set to picture mode. Such it goes when you can hardly see.

Bodil came visiting as well. Always so nice to see her. She had with her sif, the new dog. Still a small one, but she had grown since last I saw her. Still very cute, though. The goat boys were quite interested in her. As well was Leo, the lamb. He wanted to play around with the little doggie. I don’t think little puppies understand the headbutting game, though, so Bodil wisely kept them apart. Calling Leo a lamb is a bit of a stretch these days. Sussi & Leo are very big now. More sheep than lambs. They still run around and make funny baahs, though, that much has not changed.

So a nice time with Bodil and the animals. Just what I needed.

Looks like your goatzie boys are flying with the ears up and that blur over the shoulder looks like a wing (a fairy goat wing).

It is really green there, too. Have you had lots of rain like we’ve had? We’re green here. So much so, my husband has been mowing grass every couple of days (or when it’s not raining).

Well, I hear Snickers sounding off. Must be time for walkies. My donkey calls and I answer!

Glad to hear you got to talk to Bodil and see Sif. Sounds like you had a very pleasant day. And no one deserves a pleasant day more than you do, my dear danish goat boy.

Debster – We haven’t had a lot of rain. but a little bit. I was lucky it had stopped when I got there yesterday. Just some grey clouds and wind remained. The sun even came out in spots.
