Brightness/Contrast

Day three of the acupuncture is now done.
And I have to say… I do feel results. More slight improvement. Stil nothing to sing and dance about maybe, because there is a drawkback. But let’s take the positives of the day first.
When I was done with my treatments today I spotted the eye chart on the wall in the clinic. When I had my sight tested on the first day I couldn’t see anything on that chart while I was standing at the door to the waiting room. I tried today, and I could see the top letter. Not perfectly, clearly, wonderfully. But I could make it out.
Then after the treatments I was dropped off at the playground and spent some wonderful time with the goats. And when it was time for me to go home I took out my wrist watch. And I could tell the time. Not perfectly, clearly, wonderfully. But I could make it out without taking off my cap and smashing the watch right up against my eyes.
Then as I walked to the bus it struck me. The sunshine. It struck me, and I realized that the sun was at full power. It was warm, probably more than 20 degrees, and the sun was in my face and it didn’t totally ruin my vision. It worsened it a bit, but not in the same devastating manor that it has done recently.
And then tonight there was a footy game on the telly. And I could watch it reasonably well. I could actually follow the ball even in the wide shots. Not perfectly, clearly, wonderfully. But better than in quite a while.
So yes. There is improvement. Three days out of 10 done and I have seen improvement. I can only conclude that it was a really good idea to get acupuncture. I don’t know how good it’ll end up being. But gooder than nothing.
The drawback is that my right eye is not doing as well as the left. Remember when I had the cold or the flu or whatever it was and I talked about my right eye, how some of it looked like someone had taken an eraser to the blackboard? It’s still like that. It comes and goes it seem, sometimes not so much of it, sometimes a lot. It’s like my sight is smudged or clouded. In a different way than the “normal” blurriness. And straight lines still getting curves at some angles. So when you put the two eyes together I still have a hard time reading a lot of text.
So it’s not all good. But I’ll hang onto the improvements and hope that the further treatments can help my right eye some more. In any case I am very happy with how it has gone so far.
Did I mention how wonderful it was to see the goats again? After all the new and stressful suff, it was like a little oasis in the desert. Appropriate metaphor what with the sunny warmth and all. The goats were all doing fine, looking good and having fun. They still make me very happy.
Now I am tired and will go to bed early. To get some good sleep so I can get up early tomorrow and watch Lost before it’s off for more acupuncture. I think my mother is going to join us this time. She has the day off and apparently wants to come with us and see the place. The more the merrier.

So happy to hear that you’re continuing to feel improvement!
What you describe for your right eye reminds me of what I have (also in the right eye), which is a black “blurb” that zooms around and “erases” a little bit of my field of vision when I look at anything bright, like a white wall. The eye doc told me it was this thingummy: http://www.lommelegen.no/336617/prikker-i-synsfeltet (you’re ok with reading norwegian, right?), but of course your problems may be something completely different. Mention it to the docs and the acupuncturist, maybe they can tell you more.
And yay for goats in the sun!

Isn’t that interesting? I wonder what it is that the acupuncture does that helps your vision? Reduces the swelling maybe? Do the acupuncture people know why that happens?
Next you will need to hire a big bus to take eveyone who wants to go with you. “Plume’s Big Adventure” – get on the bus now while there are still seats! (You might charge a small fee for the chance to go on your adventure. Raisins and nuts would work as the fee!)
We had nice walkies yesterday after work. Everyone was kicking up their heels and munching grass.
Lots of rump scratches (John Boy) and shoulder rubs for Billy. Frankie likes scratches anywhere (it relaxes him and he gets sleepy) and Snickers even stands still for a good scratch now and then.

I’m glad the acupuncture has helped a little bit. Also, it’s nice that your mother wants to see the animals. I hope you’ll take some nice photos.
More cases of swine flu hitting us here in San Diego. Very scary indeed.
Has it come to Denmark yet?
I have to be up in Los Angeles on business Monday and don’t feel like going. Too many people in the conference room!!
Take care that you don’t get sick, too, Plume and Debster!!

Katrine – I don’t think that’s whatI have no. But see my latest entry for an update on that. I’ll talk to the acupuncturist about it, see what he has to say.
Debster- Intetesting indeed. The way I understand it is that the body has the ability to heal itself. But for some reason there blockades in the sytem. Or something like that. The needles make the body take down the blockades. So the good chemichals go through the system. And heal the eyes. That’s my crappy way of explaining it. This acupuncturist has come up with a special kind of acupuncture, it’s not the same as the “traditional chinese” stuff. I might write a little more about it some time, but yeah my understanding of it is obviously not the best either. But it’s something about releasing certain chemicals in the system. You know I get two pins in the forehead at the eyebrows? I kinda imagine them as roadblocks.. the needles in my hands and feet release the chemicals. The chemicals are like race cars. They race along the roads (veins) and then when they get to the eyes they hit the roadblocks and stop. And thus start working up there, at the eyes. I have no idea whatsoever if that’s right or wrong, it’s just my pet little theory. I just like imagining the race cars in my body!
Luislemmings – No no, you misunderstood. My mother didn’t come with me to see the animals. She came with us on the trip to the acupuncture clinic today. We went straight home today. Yesterday I was dropped off at the playground, but mama wasn’t with us there.
We have had some people tested for swine flu in Denmark, but last I heard they were all tested negative. It’s a little scary isn’t it? The last couple of days I have randomly been turning on the news and seeing the swine flu situation escalating. It feels sort of like a movie montage, news reports getting more and more severe. Starting off with “one guy infected” to “more infected” to “a few dead” to “millions dead”. Well let’s hope it doesn’t come to that. But turning into the news like that on several days, it made me feel like I was in a bad horror movie in the beginning of an outbreak. Creepy.
I hope there will never be a goat flu, I might be in danger then.
