Say Hello

Guess what?

I’ll give you a hint: Vanilje had a baby! Yes, a wonderful, little goat kid. I guess I was right when I said she was far along! And what perfect timing. It arrived just last night. To think I almost didn’t go to the playground today. I almost canceled my plans because I wasn’t feeling so great this morning. I had a bad dream. Or rather, I had a good dream. I dreamt that my eyes got better and I could see clearly. And then I woke up and reality made me sad. But I eventually forced myself to go to the playground because I know that the more depressed I am, the more good the goats will do me. And boy did they do me good today.

It’s not all good news, though. She actually had two kids, but one of them didn’t make it. That’s very sad of course. But I will focus on the positive. And that is a beautiful little baby girl. She looks so much like her mother. Almost completely white. Just a little dark markings on the face. She seems happy and healthy and curious. Just like a goat kid should be.

I am so glad I went. It has been a beautiful day too. The forecast said up to 17 degrees. I don’t know if it was quite that warm, but it was comfortably warm at least with lots of sun. I didn’t have to wear gloves or anything. I even went all by myself. My dad has been helpimg me get up there during the winter, but now that the snow and ice is gone I thought it was time to try on my own. And it went fine. The bus on my way home was a little crowded, but no big problems.

It was great spending time with Vanilje and her girl. Is there anything sweeter than a newborn goat? I think not. It was almost like the good old days. Lots of people coming over to see the little new one. Three girls came and asked if it was okay to go in and pet her. I said yes, and they came in. And I got to help them and answer questions and listen to them oooh and aaah and awww everytime the little kid moved or made a sound. One of the girls asked me if I was a doctor. “I thought you were. Or… a vet”.

Trust my camera to run out of battery power halfway through my stay. And trust my backup batteries to be flat as well! But I stil managed to make a video. youtube.com/watch?v=mWl42QjRm7I.

My clothes smell like goat poop. It’s been a good day.

Awwwww! What a cute little girl she is. And Vanilje looks so happy with new baby. Silly Magnethe poking her head inside the barn to see what was happening.

That was funny at the end with the sheep running up. I started laughing when I saw the black mama sheep.
