House Of Candy

Suprprising news from the playground. You know Magnethe’s kids? Two boys. Wrong! It turns out the brownheaded one is a girl after all. So now it makes sense, why Magnethe is so fussy about her. She is protecting her little girl.

It was Crazy Chicken Guy who made the “discovery”. On Friday. He asked Per; “It’s a boy and a girl, right?”. And Per said it was two boys. Crazy Chicken Guy said “no, you told me one was a girl”. And Per said “we thought so originally, but we were wrong”. But Crazy Chicken Guy kept insisting. So Per said “well we haven’t really had a close look, but I guess we can settle it right now”. And then he scooped up little brownie and proclaimed her a girl.

True story.

So I consider that good news. It means there’s a lot bigger chance that brownie will get to stay at the playground. I assume the boy will still go to Kurt’s when he gets older.

I had such a great time with the kids on Friday. This time they luckily decided to stay most of the time in the paved areas, so I didn’t have to stagger around and fall in holes and bushes. Much nicer. And with less new ground to explore the kids paid a lot more attention to me as well. There’s just nothing better than sitting down with goat kids climbing all over you. Bouncing around happily. It’s good for the soul.

They still have no names. Bodil thinks I should be the one to name them. And Bashar, one of the playground workers, asked me the other day if I had picked names yet. So I don’t know if there’s a general consensus that I should give them names. I’m not very good at it though. It’s such a big decision. I am much too insecure. I was thinking about Hans & Grethe. The Danish version of Hansel and Gretel. But I don’t know if that’s really appropriate. It doesn’t seem cute enough. We’ll see what happens.

Bashar said that I was the only one who could pet the little ones. I don’t think that’s quite true. It’s just that I’m almost the only one who takes the time to sit down quietly and wait for them to come to me. That’s all the secret there is to it. But it’s nice to know that I haven’t lost my goat touch. I am still able to get that connection and trust from them.

Anne, a fairly recent addition to the playground staff, wanted to pet blackie, but he ran away from her. A couple of minutes later I was sitting with him on my lap and she came over and asked if she could pet him. Which she could of course. It’s sweet. Not only can I help the children with the goats, but staffers too.

But I think goat kids will jump on pretty much anyone who sits down with them.

I have got the trust of Bodil’s doggie Sif as well. They came by. Bodil set the doggie free and she came running to me and jumped up against my leg. Again not reaching more than barely my knee. So I could lean down and scratch her head. She’s a cute little one. And she got a close introduction to the goat kids as well. As this video shows: youtube.com/watch?v=hbN3FbcmeOo. Lovely. Of course it was blackie who came up first to investigate the newcomer. While Magnethe paid very close attention. I think it helped that Bodil and I were right there though, she didn’t seem too nervous.

Bodil has gotten herself a computer, she told me. Maybe I should give her some of these videos some time. Perhaps she would like them. If she can figure out how to play them. She has barely worked out how to turn on the computer, I think she said.

Another video: youtube.com/watch?v=HM1ucGpeMSk. General shenanigans and tomfoolery. Happy little goat kids. And happy Plume.

Finally, a thank you to Luis. He sent me a belated birthday card plus some nifty other ones. Thanks mate.

Oh and by the way, if anyone should want a copy of the A Night Of 140 Tweets DVD then let me know. I bought 10 copies (for charity). And I have 10 of the Everybody Hurts charity single as well. So if anyone wants one (of either or both) let me know.

Plume cares.

We’ve had cats like that…one day they’re a girl, the next day they’re boys. I think they are now all boys. Except for the female cat that is very, very pregnant. We know she’s a girl! hee, hee

Hansel and Gretel are very cute names. Just don’t let them wander off into the woods and talk to any strange witchy-like women.

Goats are like cats. If you chase after them, they take off and run. But if you ignore them or pretend to be doing something interesting, like eating grass or looking thru your pockets for crackers, they will come running up to you.

I had a piece of hard candy in my shirt pocket. It was wrapped up in crinkly paper and when the goats heard that noise, they came over to see what lovely treats I had for them. I had to wait till they wandered off quite far away before I could get my piece of candy. Silly goats!

Debster – I hope they don’t get as confused as we do!
If we named the kids Hansel and Gretel I would be worried that Magnethe thought we considered her to be the witch!
I used to have treats in my left pocket when I went to the playground. I haven’t really had that for years. But still to this day, whenever may hand goes near the left pocket, Magnethe’s face picks up and she gets all excited. They have good memory those goats.

    Katrine – indeed!
