Snow White And The 2 Goat Baby Boys
I was met with happy news when I got to the playground on Monday. Snow White was inside with two little white furballs. A couple of weeks after Magnethe, she now too has her babies. Two boys. So that makes five boys in all. That’s a handful alright. No girls unfortunately. That means we will have to say goodbye to all of them for sure, when the times comes. But for now I will just enjoy getting to know them all.
The two new arrivals are as lovely as you’d expect. Just about a day old, and still a little tired and bewildered I think. But they seem to be doing well. And Snow White seems to be doing well as well. Thankfully. Sigrid said that the last time she had two kids too and she only accepted one of them. Back when she was at the Tilst playground. But she seems to be taking good care of both of the new boys. Still very calm and sweet she is. Making little worried grunts and checking up on her boys. Nudging them with her nose, pushing them around to get them walking and drinking. So far so good.
Both of them are white like mama, but they do have dark markings on their heads. One of them has dark marks over both eyes and to me it just looks like a little bandit mask. It’s adorable. He seems to be the smallest and most tired one. I call him Bandit. And I call the other one Smokey. Smokey and the Bandit. But they haven’t gotten official names yet of course. Neither have Magnethe’s, as far as I know.

Magnethe’s boys are still doing well. They are out and about and exploring. And then they get tired and lie down in the sunshine. It was quite warm. Temperatures up to 10-15 Celsius. Which is awesome. If it stays like that then I can dump my winter coat at last. Finally some springtime.
Here’s a video of Magnethe’s boys: youtube.com/watch?v=Ztf7_ViRrE0. Good times. Sigrid was there too, it was nice to see her again. She had come in on Sunday even though she wasn’t working, just to take special care of Snow White and make sure her boys were both okay and things were going as they should. That’s beautiful to me, when you care enough to do that even though you’re not on duty.
Hopefully everything will be okay with them all. I shall see them again tomorrow.

Snow White’s babies are so cute! Magnethe’s kids are growing up so fast. Magnethe is sure at ease with you being with the kids. She didn’t seem to like those little human kids near her babies.
Magnethe did some mock head butting to chase the humans away, then went “baaaaa” like “I warned you”. Then I saw where Magnethe was over to the fence with the other people while you were babysitting. Magnethe really does like you.
That head rolling the babies and Magnethe does must be a Boer goat thing. Our pygmy boys don’t do that at all. It was nice and sunny this afternoon, so we had everyone out of the pen for some green grass munching.
I sent you an email on the status of your orders, too.

Debster – To think there’s only a couple of weeks, between the batches. Magnethe’s babies look positively enormous compared….
We’ve been through this a few times now, I think Magnethe knows I’m a good babysitter. While human children tend to run around and make a lot of noise. Not that I really blame them too much, I feel like running around and squeeeeing too when I see goat babies! Good thing I don’t heehee!
But Magnethe is usually okay with the human kids too, as long as there aren’t too many and they don’t run around too much. And as long as she isn’t in one of her moods!
I think our boers probably picked up the head rolling from me, because I do that all the time! Wait, it’s still April 1st right?!
