Too Little Light Of Mine
I promised I wouldn’t complain on Facebook for a whole day, so now I have to use my blog instead. I need to complain about my new light bulb. It seems Denmark has switched to energy saving light bulbs. And that’s all good and nice and I want to save the planet as much as the next guy. But the light is not good. It’s really not. I had read forum posts about how they don’t reproduce colours properly. Or something. Now that I have tried them I have to say they just don’t give enough light. For me. How am I going to save energy if I need to turn on multiple lamps instead of one? I guess for people with normal eyesight the energy saving bulbs are okay, but I really need the light to be able to see better.
You can’t even buy the old ones anymore, as far as I know. My dad is going to see if he can find something stronger than the one I have now in my living room. Today I got on my exercise bike for the first time since I changed the light bulb. And I couldn’t read the display. At all. There just wasn’t enough light. In the summertime I like to turn off the lights while I bike. The sunlight is usually enough for me to be able to read the display. During the winter I have to turn on the lights. And now with the energy saving bulb I can’t at all. I’m going to have to have a flashlight with me if I want to read the display.
It’s going to hurt me when I attempt to read letters and such too. Right now I’m trying to write a letter for my friend’s baby scrapbook and it’s just harder. And harder. The same thing with all the websites I use. They do updates and every time it makes things harder and harder for me. It’s just frustrating. I have to deal with this eyesight condition and I’m doing that. But when you feel like everything around you is making things harder and there’s nothing you can do about it. It’s frustrating. Especially because they insist that they’re making things better. And they don’t want to listen to the minority that don’t like it. I know I can’t expect the world to be designed for my needs. I just wish they wouldn’t make things worse in the search for change for change’s sake.
Other than that there is snow outside and everything is fine and I will not let the little things get me down.. Can’t wait for Windows 8!

Appreciating the persistence you put into your site and in depth information you offer. It’s great to come across a blog every once in a while that isn’t the same old rehashed information. Great read! I’ve saved your site and I’m adding your RSS feeds to my Google account.

How soon is now?
Thanks! :)

I’m sorry you’re having to deal with the light bulb problem. We’re going to be in the same boat soon here in the US. It really bothers me when the government can say what kind of things you have to use and buy.
They might as well said you can only buy 40 watt light bulbs for everything! We were looking online about new washing machines (ours has a problem). Some of the newer machines use less water. The reviews were bad on these machines. Yes, they use less water, but the clothes don’t get clean! Well, who wants that?
Same with gasoline. Our government wants to raise prices so we all use less. So how are people supposed to get to work? We don’t have busses or subways out in the country.
The powers that be need to walk in your shoes (and ours) for a few days and just see what it’s like. Sometimes I think they haven’t a clue what “real life” is like.
Our weather (till today) has been great. The big January/Feb thaw. Last year at Groundhog Day, we had 14 to 16 inches of blowing snow. This year it was 60 F (15 C). Today it is 37 F (2 C), raining and is windy. Oh, well better than 14 inches of snow! We went all summer without rain, then in the late fall/winter, it has been raining steadily. We needed the moisture, so really can’t complain.

Debster – Yes, it’s quite annoying. But I got a better bulb now, so it’s not a catastrophe anymore. I might buy up a large quantity of old stock on amazon haha. We’ll see.
I am freeeeezing. Maybe if I get a lot of powerful light bulbs that will help heat my apartment. I need some crazy theories to help me with the cold.
