Keeping Calm
Where did the summer go? It’s been cold and rainy here. At least I think the temperatures will pick up a little again now. I do hope we will get some 30+ days before the summer is over. So far it hasn’t exactly been scorching. But I’ll settle for sunshine and above 20, thank you very much.
All is well in the goat camp. Palle is growing up well. Bigger and stronger. Running around on his own or with the two older kids. They are all so cute and so much fun. I have had a couple of nice, little talks with Sigrid about the goats too. They’re looking for a new home for Medium now. He’s getting about that age where he can’t stay with the others much longer. Sigrid has been looking for places that might take him. I hope they’ll be able to find one. Not many people are willing to take bucks, even if they have him castrated. There are talks about keeping Palle. Because everyone loves him and his sociable personality so much. It would be lovely if Mia could keep her baby. I wonder how well two castrated bucks would get along together, though? Bob is trying hard to assert his dominance towards the little boys right now. I often see him and Medium going around in circles with locked heads. We’d like to keep Large too, as always with girl kids. She has funny horns and those lovely wattles. She’s a little more reserved, personality-wise, than the two boys, though. I’ve been spending more one-on-one time with her lately, trying to get her a little more outgoing maybe. We’ll see how it all goes.
Meanwhile, at the home front. Vegetarianism going well. No meat. And I have been working hard in general. In the past I have often tried the exercise and eating better stuff. But this is the hardest I have ever worked. The most focused I have ever been. Really eating less and biking for 3 hours at a time. In the last month and a halfish I have lost some 13kg/28pounds. It’s a start. Maybe some of it is just water. I have cut down on salt too. But I’m putting in a big effort now, I think. Feels good. I am not without fault, though. For example I temporarily lifted the cheese embargo and had a pizza. I just had a craving for it. With all this healthy eating I do start fantasizing about unhealthy things, hah. My dad was nice enough to go bring me the pizza. I had asked for a “marguerite”, which is just a plain pizza with cheese and tomato sauce. For some reason they couldn’t make that. So I got one with cheese. tomato sauce and.. corn. I have never heard of corn on a pizza before. But to be fair I never, ever eat pizza. So what do I know. I don’t understand why they couldn’t just make the corn pizza without the corn.. that would have been a Marguerite. But maybe they had something premade and just heat it up or something. I don’t know. I’m sure pizza lovers would have found it not terribly impressive but I enjoyed it. There’s just something fun about eating a slice of pizza. Like American debauchery. And as long as my weight is slowly and steadily dropping then I will allow myself the treats now and then. I’m sure I could lose more weight if I were even more dedicated. But I have plenty of time and I don’t want to break my neck over an impossible ideal. I’m doing pretty well!
Now on with the goat media.
First off I made an “internet meme”. Sort of a parody of various “keep calm and listen to [something]” pictures that go around the net. Starring Mio.
Good advice!
And a goatlog. Fun with the kids. Running and jumping around quite a lot. There are visits from a golden retriever too. A man I have seen several times now. He seems to like the goats and likes introducing his dog to them. The goats aren’t fans of dogs, of course. But he seems to have good control of the dog and it seems to be a sweet one. It’s fun to see the goats’ reactions, and I think they’re getting a little more used to seing it too. Although they’re still on guard when it’s around.
And that’s all for today. I hope to see the sun next week.

Are “marguerite” pizzas the same or kind of like margherita Pizzas? Those are my favorite too! I think margherita pizzas usually have tomatoes & basil on them though. But yum. Weird that they gave you corn. I still can’t get over that :) Glad you got your pizza fix though!
I love the close-up pictures of Kamel & Mia. Such cute little whiskers they have! :) i hope you see the sun more too. It was 108 here yesterday, which it think is around 42 degrees in celsius. So hot and bright! Fortunately it rained last night & cooled things down a bit :) (84 today/28ish celsius i believe). Such a relief!

Mmmm…. pizza! I like tomato and cheese pizza the best, but I will eat it with Canadian bacon (ham) and mushrooms on it. I don’t like sausage or pepperoni on pizza at all.
All our goats are neutered males. There’s always some head-butting going on especially when they were younger, but they all seemed to get along okay. Frankie always seemed to be a bit more “bucky” than the other two and would sometimes act up with us.
Some of their behavior was just dominence related and we had to let them know that we were the “alpha” goats and that they were not to butt us or knock us over. We would tell them “no” and just walk away and not have anything to do with them until they showed us positive behavior.
It has cooled down here as well – which we are very happy about, too. It had been very hot and made working outside miserable.
Keep up the good work with your exercise and eating right. Sounds like you are going about it all in the right way – not like just going on a “hay and water” only diet! Hee, hee.

I want nice weather too. And nice pizza’s. I only eat vegetarian pizza’s, I don’t like any meat on them. Bye Lasse! Nice blog, nice photo’s!

Renée de Bruin – Veggie pizzas for all! The goats would approve.
Debster – The last time I had pizza before this was probably a few years ago and that was with bacon. I remember ordering extra bacon on it, thinking it would be nice. But it was too much bacon. Now even a little bacon is too much. But at least I can still have pizza.
Oh yeah, your goats are guys. I didn’t even think of that. There’s always a little head-butting anyway, males or not! I’m sure it would be okay. I’d love it if Palle could stay.
No hay for me! I don’t want the goats to think I’m stealing their diet!
Traci – I imagine it’s something similar! I’ve seen it called Marguerite and Margarita here. But I don’t think they come with tomato slices. Just the sauce and the cheese. That’s the base pizza I guess? And then normally you’d add toppings on that.
Whoa 42C! I don’t think it’s ever been that hot in Denmark. Literally. I’m not sure I’d survive that. But I’d love to try. Just for a day or two haha. I’d really just like a little 30+ action. That’s the high point of the Danish summer. Around 33C/91F. That’s about the highest we ever get. I wonder if we’ll see that this year, though. The two week forecast doesn’t look promising. Oh well! At least gimme sunshine!
