The Carlyle Group

The weekend has arrived and it is time to catch up on a few things.

On thursday I was greeted by an unusual sight when I arrived at the playground. Mathilde was standing in the doorway to the goats’ house. And Magnethe was running around outside with Kurt chasing her. How come the goats were out, you ask?

broken fence

The horses had broken down the fence! Haha. Apparently it was an accident, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Mads had gone up to the horses and slyly whispered “if you bust us out of here I’ll make it worth your while”.

The goats were quickly rounded up, though, and put inside. And the next day the fence was repaired. Short, fleeting freedom.

I must admit that I somewhat miss the days when the goats were allowed to just walk around freely outside. It was always fun to go to the playground and wonder where they’d be, to go around and look for them. And to have them run to me when they saw me. They still come to me when they see me now, but it’s not the same when there is a fence between us.

Maybe I’ll bring some carrots and bribe the horses to break down the fence more often.

They are sweet ladies.

It makes me happy when I feel their tummies and think that they will be having kids in a couple of months.

And finally, some more bunny/lamb pictures.

Nothing but fun.

I haven’t called my doctor yet. I gotta do it on Monday. Or Tuesday. Soon, at least.

Sometimes I crosspost blog entries to my livejournal. Today I will do the opposite. In the hopes of getting book recommendations.

I am currently reading The Time Traveler’s Wife by Audrey Niffenegger, and am greatly enjoying it. Since I am now reading for pleasure again I thought I would ask for book recommendations. Any great books I should put on my to-do list? Any books a bright, young fellow ought to have read? Due to social phobia and other disasters I pretty much haven’t read anything since I was a wee laddie.

I remember when I was a kid I was puzzled that reading books was considered schoolwork. I thought it was fun. in Danish class we would go to the tiny school library and pick books and just sit in class and read them by ourselves, and I used to love it because it was so much nicer than actually DOING stuff. Reading wasn’t doing stuff, it was just… reading. And when most other kids had read 2-3 books I would be up to 10-12 books and I would feel proud´of myself. I guess that was around the time when I found out that I was one of the more intelligent kids in our class. Not to be conceited or anything. In many other ways I was dumb as a brick. Just look at how my life has gone, íntelligence intellischmence. I would trade it all for some shiny pearls.

Also, everyone seems to be loving the new draft autosave on lj. It makes me a little uncomfortable though. I know it’s just a draft, I know it doesn’t count for anything. But I still feel like I’m being held accountable for what I’m writing. Like I’m being judged even though I haven’t even posted this yet! You know there’s some echelon gnome sitting somewhere reading your autodrafts, you just know it! And he’s laughing and saving the worst stuff for the office party where all the little echelon gnomes dance around a paper mache figure of Napoleon I CANT STAND IT!

So there.

    Hi!
I don’t know the book you mentioned, so I’m just going to give you the tiltles on some books that i have enjoyed reading. If you are into science, I would reccomend anything by Richard Dawkins. Amazing, the way he sees things!

If you (like me) are into fantasy, obviously “The Lord of the Rings” is a must, but I can also STRONGLY recommend anything by Terry Pratchett, who is my all-time favourite author. Check out the Discworld series for a good laugh, a good story and maby some new perspective… ;)

A good book for anyone who likes animals is “Last chance to see” by Douglas Adams (yes, the one who wrote The hitchhikers guide to the Galaxy-also a good book!), which is about how he and a zoologist traveled the world to see rare species.

Or you could just try picking a book at random? Choose one you like the looks of :) happy reading!
