There Is No Spoon
I had a bad dream last night. Normally I like nightmares. But I can think of two exceptions. The ones where I’m aware that I’m in a dream and I can’t wake up. And the ones where something bad happens to the goats.
In my dream last night Magnethe was hurt. Where her back should be there was a big, gaping hole. Organs and rib cage all exposed. Odd thing was that she was walking around like it didn’t hurt her at all. But it was still a nasty dream.
And to make matters worse I overslept. Wouldn’t be a problem on a Saturday, except I wanted to go see the goats. The playground was closed yesterday. So I really wanted to go today. But since it’s weekend that means it’s only open for a short time. When I woke up from that bad dream I hurried out the door and went up there. Managed to get a little five-minute visit. Better than nothing. And good to see Magnethe was doing fine. Not that I expected the dream to be a bad omen or anything. But it’s still nicer to have the fresh memory of a lively Magnethe rather than having the stale memory of her being wounded.
Speaking of goats and hurt. It’s been a very summery week. And so the kids have been making hot dogs at the fire place. And one day Mathilde’s kids were jumping into the fireplace. This was after the hot dogs were done and the fire was dying down. No big flames, but embers and small flames. And we had to keep getting them out of there. No one got hurt. There was a guy who said we should just let them get hurt once then they’d learn to stay away from it. I guess that’s right. I just couldn’t do that. I’d rather spend the rest of my life picking them out of there than letting them get burnt. Even if it would just be a small burn. If I was to be a dad or just get a pet I’d have a hard time saying no. I have no doubt that I would care a lot and love a lot, but I don’t know if I could be strict and harsh too. I guess when the time comes then you have to learn it. But I’d never let anyone get burnt just to teach them a lesson.
Speaking of goat kids. My new 2gb memory card is awesome. At highest resolution I can take more than 700 pictures. More than 30 minutes video. Pure overkill. You’re lucky I didn’t have it when the kids were born. Or I might have posted an overly large amount of pictures. Thank god that didn’t happen.
Speaking of yesterday, I missed a great concert. Kashmir were playing in Århus. Not too expensive, an outdoor venue. And I heard on the news that there weren’t too many people. If only I’d known. But I only found out about it 30 minutes before it started. Darn. I love Kashmir. Would have been a good place to take an overly large amount of pictures too.
It’s been nice and cool today. Summer is on a little break. I like that. I can only take so much heat, I need to cool down once in a while.
I’m a cool cat.

Re: Reading list
These are some books I’ve read so far this year and enjoyed. A Million Little Pieces – James Frey, David Copperfield & Great Expectations- Charles Dickens, My Antonia – Willa Cather, Glass Castle – Jeannette Walls, In Cold Blood – Truman Capote, Shop Girl – Steve Martin, For Whom the Bell Tolls and A Farewell to Arms – Ernest Hemingway & The Time Traveler’s Wife.
Animals in Translation – Temple Grandin, Cat Stories and All Creatures Great and Small – James Herriot, The Closers and Chasing the Dime – Michael Connerly, Dead I Well May Be – Adrian McKinty, The Fallen – T. Jefferson Parker, and Case Histories – Kate Atkinson
I like mysteries, animals stories, classics, westerns & romantic stories. I DON”T like horror stories, although I have read quite a few of Steven King’s books, go figure.
I have to read some every day or I just don’t feel right and have been known to read the backs of cereal boxes and canned goods for lack of anything else to read. I also used to read the dictionary when I was a little kid (didn’t everyone?). I checked out books from the library during summer vacation and was amazed that other kids DIDN’T read during the summer. What did they do all that time from school???
I read several books at a time (usually different genres, so as not to get confused), I re-read some of my favorite books every so often. Like Lonesome Dove by Larry McMurtry and Fried Green Tomatoes – Fannie Flagg. Sometimes I’ll see the movie first then read the book or the other way round, doesn’t matter to me. I belong to a book club and we read one book a month and discuss it. I’m sorta not out-going, but it’s a small group and has been lots of fun and not hard to do at all.
And yes, Lasse, please do comment on my list and reading habits. I’d like to know if you have read any of them or want too. And what books you’ve read or want to read. I think that’s why I like the Internet, one can look up anything for more info and not have to wait for the library to open!

Deb – The only one of those books I have read is the Time Traveler’s Wife. I completely loved that one. I will check to see if I can get any of the others at my library. Oh yes, I have read a number of Stephen King books too. During my long “period of not reading so much” I still read some of his books. Go figure. I don’t think I have ever read the dictionary. I know who did it anyway. The river. That makes no sense if you’re not Danish, sorry.
Oh yes I saw Shop Girl, the movie, not too long ago. Liked it quite a bit.
I have three books waiting at the library already. Let’s see.. Stranger In A Strange Land. Man Walks Into a Room. Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close. I shall probably pick up those tomorrow.
